Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee
National Review Online ^ | 1-23-08 | Byron York

Posted on 01/23/2008 12:29:02 PM PST by TitansAFC

This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America‚s industrial base."

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

> Huckabee might just choose General Wesley Clark..wouldn’t that be a hoot! <

Hmm! Maybe you’ve hit upon something significant. Even though General Clark was born in Chicago, he did grow up in Arkansas!

Florida votes on JANUARY 29TH. As Fla goes, so goes the nation. Floridians were stupid to elect C. Crist governor but it looks like they're not going to be stupid on primary day.

There will be turnout too cuz we are voting for property tax relief and against a school tax (I am anyway). Our school system has less kids but they want laptops (when did somebody buy any of us a laptop?)

Exactly.

I remain, Floriduh Voter

Considering the numerous tax cuts he proposed, I’d say he is a died in the wool supply side Reaganite

Huckabee is going broke. If he can’t run a campaign budget, he can’t run a country. Everyone that’s left has quit due to financial problems.

Right. It only has four strings. To play the guitar well takes at least five times as much skill.

Maybe. This is an intersting endorsement and pushes me further, God help me, in that direction. I was hesitant but Huck was a long term governor and does have credentials I’ve bypassed until now. Praise the Lord and pass the bumper sticker.

Huckabee did his best of the bunch in trying to ape Hunter’s issues. I guess Hunter thinks that he is sincere. I have my deep doubts.

Yep. It’s supposed to be about what direction the country will go, not which one will be our savior.
