It has been tossed around by the MSM... and it has failed to materialize. If Fred wanted to influence the race, the time to do so would be now, before McCain drops any further in Florida.

He hasn't, though. One reason put forth is that he's reconsidered his position vis-a-vis the Vice Presidency, and wants to keep his options open. This hasn't been mentioned, but I also don't think an Attorney General, Solicitor General, or perhaps even a Supreme Court appointment is out of the question.

Since he hasn't made an endorsement by now, and has made no indication that he will make an endorsement, it's highly doubtful that he will before the nominee is clear.

In the end, your question makes no sense. It's based on pure speculation that Fred might endorse McCain, when he hasn't done so, hasn't indicated that he will do so, and has given no reasons why he might do so. How, then, are we supposed to judge whether doing so would make Fred Thompson a 'RINO'?

I think it is a perfectly good question, and it makes perfect sence. It is based upon speculation AND historical friendships....including that Fred was part of McCain's 2000 campaign:

SO- If Fred one day endorses McCain .... will that make Fred a RINO too???
