We are going to start wishing for lazy, slow, old Fred Thompson.

I am, already. I’m looking at Romney...but there are so many questions for a real conservative.

Very depressing.

Rush could have backed Hunter or Thompson, the only 2 real conservatives in the race but he chose not to.

Maybe because that it's not Rush's job to go around "endorsing" candidates?

I agree it’s not looking good, but we can always hope and pray that some unforeseen event will shatter their ambitions.

“the media?”

Anything that the media has done to Dick Cheney should be worn as a “badge of honor.”

Given a ticket of Dick Cheney vs. Clinton or Obama;
just who do you think Republicans and the majority of registered Independents would vote for?
I’ll take Cheney any day and Cheney would hand either one of the ‘Rats their lunch in a debate!!!

If McCain is at the top of the “Republican” ticket - I’ll not cast a vote for president, but vote on the rest of the ticket for the best folks available...

There is NO WAY I will cast a vote for McCain...

The clothespin manufacturers are going to make a fortune selling to conservatives this election.

Come on, Rush, don’t be like that. Good Lord, we rolled over for Clinton I. Why in the world would we even think about a Clinton or NObomba Presidency?

The biggest issue by far is our own security. I’ll take a McCain or Guliani over ANYTHING the cowardly Democrats have.

And it’s not even close.

Let’s not be fools here. What’s that about cutting off one’s nose to spite the face?

What’s Mitt’s position on self-defense?

We just got the castle doctrine a liberation of gun transport regulations in Missouri. It was like a breath of fresh air.

No steps backward. This FredHead needs some convincing about Mitt.

There are worse things than losing an election, such as having a Republican win who would work diligently to delegitimize conservatism.

“Rush said before the primaries that he would not endorse any candidate this early in the race.”

Yes, Rush’s “rule”.

I don’t get it. The man does 3 solid hours of commentary, 5 days a week, roughly 48 weeks per year and he won’t endorse or at least discuss the validity of Presidential candidates. Particularly when the MSM has propped up the nothing candidate, This Year’s Girl, Obama (did you know he was half white?), and a stable of RINOs.

I’m stumped.

Sorry Rush, but that is obtuse Obama

/Begin Sarcasm/  I think none of us should vote this year.  Eight years of Clinton can't be that bad!  Besides, that'll teach those crazy Republicans! /End Sarcasm/

Rush isn’t there to tell me who to vote for. I can figure that out for myself and so can you and everyone else who calls him- or herself a conservative. If republicans can’t figure out who is conservative, then it tells me that the GOP as a whole has no interest in conservative candidates. So I think this means it is time (past time really) for a new conservative party to emerge.

Sad but true. What don’t the Repubs get? We have been saying for years that we want CONSERVATIVE and the keep shoving dem-lite down our throats.

We keep saying that, but we don't vote that way. We had Thompson and Hunter in the race, and the simple fact is they didn't get the votes. I have no idea why anyone would vote for McCain, but they did.

Most of us on FR are political junkies, and we know a lot more about the candidates than the average voter. Proof of that is that Huckabee and Thompson ended up competing for the same voters. These guys have very different positions, but both have a folksy southern charm. A lot of voters vote personality.

Most people voted for Reagan for his personality, not his positions. We got a great man with the personality, but he didn't win because of his policies or positions. He won because he connected with people.

Thompson spoke conservative, but he was not a “down-the-list” conservative.
