Dear fellow Fredheads,
It's time to support Mitt Romney. Can Mitt win in a general election? I don't know. Certainly he has always had a better chance than Fred. And if the opposition is Hillary Clinton, then maybe.
McCain can beat Hillary. But McCain is, well, McCain.
To be honest, I'm not as down on McCain as most of my fellow Jawas and you, the readers. But that's just because I've been a one-issue guy since right around, oh, let me see, I think the date was 9/11/2001.
But still, McCain doesn't get that the border is tied in with our national security.
Mitt does. And he seems to get the war on political Islam.
Sure, Rudy also seems to get both, but it's probably too little too late for him.
I'm hearing some oddball theory that a lot of Fredheads are natural Huckabee supporters. That's insane. Like, certifiably insane.
It's built on the presumption that the evangelical supporters of Thompson are in the same boat as the evangelical supporters of Huckabee. I got news for Tom Edsell: they aint the same animal. Sure, they may have the same funny accent, and so I'm guessing that to an outsider like Edsell the presumption is that they must be the same species. But they're not.

Spin, spin, spin.
If this is what we can expect from the Romney camp ... pardon my lack of enthusiasm for him as the GOP standard bearer. Like I said, let me put on my Gore-Tex to prepare for months of you pi**ing down my leg.
Like hell. And take your retort and shove it.
yep
Are you kidding?
Wouldn’t have her. And if she does get elected, then she will be out in four years and a REAL Republican will be in her place.
BTW, even though she might be the dimocrat nominee, I believe she would be defeated. There are too many skeletons in her closets!
Now that Fred is sadly gone I will definitely switch to Mitt or maybe Rudy if he survives Florida.
Yeah, foregive me for looking at him trying to run to the left of Ted Kennedy on abortion in 1994 and now presenting himself as pro-life. Foregive me looking at him supporting McCain's amnesty just a few months ago and now attacking McCain.
Silly me. Don't look at his history. Just fall in blindly with the rest of Romney's cult following. Pass the Kool-Aid. Make mine grape, thank you.
Where is the spin in that statement?
You are forced to pay auto insurance so I don’t have to pay ten times more for it.
How is this different from health insurance? BTW, you can opt out if you want to self insure.
“Romney must be doing something right.
Have you noticed all the lies and disinformation spread about him?”
This has been going on for almost a year now.
Romney has had more muck thrown at him than any other GOP candidate. Some of it done for dishonorable reasons that we wont go into. Quite frankly it does tell me that his closet must be skeleton free if all they got on him is something he said in 1994 that wasnt conservative enough.
Post #313 has his overall 1994 positions. About 80% of it is what he is talking about TODAY. Same guy, except for becoming prolife, pretty much the same agenda.
What will you do with your days, now that you don’t the Fred threads to spam anymore with your oh, so witty commentary and analysis.
“Are you kidding?
Wouldnt have her. And if she does get elected, then she will be out in four years and a REAL Republican will be in her place.”
I heard the same lies from conservative Perot supporters who were gleeful at dumping GHWB.
Stupidity like that can kill conservatism for a decade or more!
‘BTW, even though she might be the dimocrat nominee, I believe she would be defeated. There are too many skeletons in her closets!”
Lets hope so. I think Romney can defeat her.
I don't believe you can be such a jerk to post such a comment.
I come up with fact, you come up with gibbering rants.
“Romney has flipped and flopped” NO he hasnt and I showed you how he has been consistent on many issues.
Let’s get back to facts here.
**Stupidity like that can kill conservatism for a decade or more!**
I would certainly hope that you are not trying to label me as “stupid.”
Of course Precious Willard has core values.... We’re just on version 3.1 of it....
“Yeah, foregive me for looking at him trying to run to the left of Ted Kennedy on abortion in 1994 and now presenting himself as pro-life. Foregive me looking at him supporting McCain’s amnesty just a few months ago and now attacking McCain.”
Forgive me, but you are spouting BS.
BS on 1994 and BS on the McCain’s amnesty ...
Romney opposed it immediately when the bill came out:
“In his appeals to conservative voters, Romney has made the Arizona senator’s work on immigration one of his favorite targets. When McCain and other senators unveiled the latest reform bill two weeks ago, Romney called it the “wrong approach” and immediately launched a television ad slamming “amnesty” for illegal immigrants.
But while Romney has been aggressive with his barbs, he has offered no specific solutions of his own to the immigration crisis. With McCain and his surrogates pushing the issue hard, Romney is facing increasing questions about what he would do about the problem.
Romney, in outlining his immigration position, advocates three broad principles. He says he wants to secure the borders, establish a fraud-proof employee verification system, and offer no special residency or citizenship privileges to the estimated 12 million immi grants in the United States illegally. He objects to a provision in the current bill that would create a special “Z visa” allowing undocumented workers to remain in the United States and work legally.
...
Asked if Romney is going to put out a detailed immigration plan, his spokesman, Kevin Madden, said Romney “has made his immigration priorities clear: Secure the borders, implement an employee verification program with a tamper-proof biometric card, and no special pathway towards citizenship for those who broke immigration laws.”
Madden would not say specifically whether Romney would veto the Senate bill if he were president but said Romney “does not support the bill in its current form.”
