Fredheads, It's Time to Support Mitt
The Jawa Report ^ | January 22, 2008 05:18 PM | Dr. Rusty Shackleford

Posted on 01/22/2008 3:22:24 PM PST by Checkers

Dear fellow Fredheads,

It's time to support Mitt Romney. Can Mitt win in a general election? I don't know. Certainly he has always had a better chance than Fred. And if the opposition is Hillary Clinton, then maybe.

McCain can beat Hillary. But McCain is, well, McCain.

To be honest, I'm not as down on McCain as most of my fellow Jawas and you, the readers. But that's just because I've been a one-issue guy since right around, oh, let me see, I think the date was 9/11/2001.

But still, McCain doesn't get that the border is tied in with our national security.

Mitt does. And he seems to get the war on political Islam.

Sure, Rudy also seems to get both, but it's probably too little too late for him.

I'm hearing some oddball theory that a lot of Fredheads are natural Huckabee supporters. That's insane. Like, certifiably insane.

It's built on the presumption that the evangelical supporters of Thompson are in the same boat as the evangelical supporters of Huckabee. I got news for Tom Edsell: they aint the same animal. Sure, they may have the same funny accent, and so I'm guessing that to an outsider like Edsell the presumption is that they must be the same species. But they're not.

You haven’t read many of my posts. So the state is already in your life....how amazing. I didn’t think that happened anymore.

Spin, spin, spin.

If this is what we can expect from the Romney camp ... pardon my lack of enthusiasm for him as the GOP standard bearer. Like I said, let me put on my Gore-Tex to prepare for months of you pi**ing down my leg.

Are you kidding?

Wouldn’t have her. And if she does get elected, then she will be out in four years and a REAL Republican will be in her place.

BTW, even though she might be the dimocrat nominee, I believe she would be defeated. There are too many skeletons in her closets!

I'll vote for Paul. I was supporting Hunter, but that's rather a moot point now....unless I write him in which I may do as well.

At this point, it's not so much an issue of what constitutes an acceptible and right action, but rather what constitutes an unacceptable and wrong action. By this, I mean that there are certain things that we are morally obligated to ABSTAIN from, such as voting for RINOs and democrats.

This leaves yet a few choices, but they only serve to further divide the conservative voter base. However, in choosing to do what's right, we are in effect choosing the lesser of evils even as those who vote for RINOs. Rather ironic don't you think?

I'm planning on writing in Thompson/Hunter at this point, but could vote for Paul as well. I said to somebody earlier that there was nothing to lose. I believe we've already lost what we're going to lose. We simply haven't reaped from it yet.

One thing will remain certain, me and my clan will NOT vote for a RINO, and we will NOT vote for a democrat.

Now that Fred is sadly gone I will definitely switch to Mitt or maybe Rudy if he survives Florida.

You are spinning and/or have simply decided to ignore the real Romney life story and record.

Yeah, foregive me for looking at him trying to run to the left of Ted Kennedy on abortion in 1994 and now presenting himself as pro-life. Foregive me looking at him supporting McCain's amnesty just a few months ago and now attacking McCain.

Silly me. Don't look at his history. Just fall in blindly with the rest of Romney's cult following. Pass the Kool-Aid. Make mine grape, thank you.

Where is the spin in that statement?

You are forced to pay auto insurance so I don’t have to pay ten times more for it.

How is this different from health insurance? BTW, you can opt out if you want to self insure.

“Romney must be doing something right.

Have you noticed all the lies and disinformation spread about him?”

This has been going on for almost a year now.

Romney has had more muck thrown at him than any other GOP candidate. Some of it done for dishonorable reasons that we wont go into. Quite frankly it does tell me that his closet must be skeleton free if all they got on him is something he said in 1994 that wasnt conservative enough.

Post #313 has his overall 1994 positions. About 80% of it is what he is talking about TODAY. Same guy, except for becoming prolife, pretty much the same agenda.

“Are you kidding?

I heard the same lies from conservative Perot supporters who were gleeful at dumping GHWB.

Stupidity like that can kill conservatism for a decade or more!

‘BTW, even though she might be the dimocrat nominee, I believe she would be defeated. There are too many skeletons in her closets!”

Lets hope so. I think Romney can defeat her.

Wow...that was a BAD typo too! :-) Yeah...hate em I do!

Ah...my warning... right. I'm merely warning that my "group" and the Paulites are going to keep the conservative voting base split. There are simply too many of us. The base will be weakened enough to NOT win the election. People don't seem to want to hear it though. They'd rather tell me how bad I am for thinking this way, and not realize that they've been successfully herded by the MSM and the GOP.

I feel like I'm shouting at a large crowd of very stupid people who are stading ON the tracks at a high speed intersection to catch a train. I shout for them to get off the tracks and they tell me I'm stupid because they're going to catch the train, and I'm going to be left behind. But I look down the tracks and see the train approaching at a high speed. They don't seem to see it. So they get mad at me, and I start backing up 75 feet or so in preparation of the "mess".

That's where we're at now. My and my crowd have already started backing up and we can see the train.

Forgive me, but you are spouting BS.
BS on 1994 and BS on the McCain’s amnesty ...
Romney opposed it immediately when the bill came out:

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/06/01/critics_press_romney_on_immigration_view/?page=2

“In his appeals to conservative voters, Romney has made the Arizona senator’s work on immigration one of his favorite targets. When McCain and other senators unveiled the latest reform bill two weeks ago, Romney called it the “wrong approach” and immediately launched a television ad slamming “amnesty” for illegal immigrants.

But while Romney has been aggressive with his barbs, he has offered no specific solutions of his own to the immigration crisis. With McCain and his surrogates pushing the issue hard, Romney is facing increasing questions about what he would do about the problem.

Romney, in outlining his immigration position, advocates three broad principles. He says he wants to secure the borders, establish a fraud-proof employee verification system, and offer no special residency or citizenship privileges to the estimated 12 million immi grants in the United States illegally. He objects to a provision in the current bill that would create a special “Z visa” allowing undocumented workers to remain in the United States and work legally.

...

Asked if Romney is going to put out a detailed immigration plan, his spokesman, Kevin Madden, said Romney “has made his immigration priorities clear: Secure the borders, implement an employee verification program with a tamper-proof biometric card, and no special pathway towards citizenship for those who broke immigration laws.”

Madden would not say specifically whether Romney would veto the Senate bill if he were president but said Romney “does not support the bill in its current form.”

If my last posting to you didn't "register" there's nothing I can do. I don't think that you and I are going to make any significant gains, or come to any "common ground" by discussing this any further.

Don't forget what I said about "us" and the "Paulites". It's a real and present danger to your candidate and others like him.
