I might vote for Romney. Or Giuliani, even. In fact, the only candidate that I absolutely will *never* vote for is Mike Huckabee.

Thank you for this article. Rep. Linder provides a very interesting analysis. As he says, politics is about what a candidate believes. I’m afraid Romney only believes what the polls and consultants tell him the voters want him to believe at that moment.

Mike Huckabee has not proven himself to be an honorable man during this campaign. That is what first caught my attention about him before I even knew or cared who he was. Ronald Reagan ran an honorable campaign. Huckabee has been smarmy.

Mike Huckabee has yet to show he has any intellectual heft whatsoever. Placing his name with the likes of Adams (last week it was Jefferson - what happened did you become a federalist overnight unspun?), Madison and Lincoln is just ridiculous. He could never hold a candle to them intellectually or philosophically.

Mike Huckabee has used the Christian faith in the most cynical and unseemly fashion. Ronald Reagan would never have done such a thing (nor would any of the Founding Fathers).

Mike Huckabee is a self-promoting opportunist. You could tell that Ronald Reagan loved this country. Mike Huckabee loves himself.

I would rather vote for an honorable man who really shows he loves this country, even if I don’t agree with everything he stands for, than for a cynical opportunist who says he stands for everything I believe in but shows that he cannot be trusted.

Good luck to your man. May his candidacy be short-lived for the sake of this great country and all the men who gave their lives for it.

He seems like a very nice man.

But, there are a great number of very nice men for whom I'll never vote. Governor Huckabee is among them.

He’s another Bill Clinton.

Here’s some proof he is a real classy guy. In order simultaneously furnish his 7000 square foot home while skirting state ethics laws, soon to be ex-governor Huck registered for gifts (just like a bride) at two department stores. Straight out of the Bill and Hillary playbook.

Finally someone displays a better understanding of history and what propelled Reagan to electoral success than Limbaugh, et. al. and acknowleges that Huckabee is closest to that template.

It is utterly ridiculous to villify Huckabee the way he has been on radio and on these threads. Even the MSM has tried to limit Huckabee's appeal to evangelicals, when there are far more qualities that Huckabee possesses and that should make him an extremely attractive candidate for the Republican faithful as well as and more importantly, the squooshy middle, come November.

Huckabee has shown that he is the best campaigner by far than any of the remaining opponents. With the least money, the least name recognition, and the most constant barrage of calumny aimed at him, he is still holding his own.

He is by far the best the rep. party has to go against the Clinton machine.

McCain is too old and unpredictable, Giuliani too associated with one issue and lacks any comparable experience, and Romney is just Romney. His melt down when asked a question by that AP reporter showed a man who prone to panic. If his financial advantages, and his photogenic looks and political lineage can only produce such a tepid response, he will be no match for the Clintons.

The Clintons are the N.E. Patriots of politics. We have to appreciate how they overcame a double digit deficit in New Hampshire to squeak out a win. A truly amazing feat. So we have to put up our best player, our best politician, our hardest worker, our most likable guy if we are to prevent another eight years of the Clinton nightmare.

I don’t totally agree with the article or your post I think Huckabee is a reasoned alternative.

Most of the people on FR are still going through Fred separation anxiety.

Give it a few days.

Huckafeller is very far from Reagan. He’s a liberal who supports nany-statism (a food fascist), a tax raiser, a big spender, pro-amnesty, and liberal in almost all ways except a few social/moral issues.

I don’t trust him.
