The West must be prepared to carry out pre-emptive nuclear strikes to halt the spread of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, according to a radical manifesto for a new NATO by five of the West's most senior military officers and strategists.

Calling for reform of NATO and a new pact drawing the U.S., NATO and the European Union together in a "grand strategy" to tackle the challenges of an increasingly brutal world, the former armed forces chiefs from the U.S., Britain, Germany, France and The Netherlands insist a "first strike" nuclear option remains an "indispensable instrument" since there is "simply no realistic prospect of a nuclear-free world."

“The five commanders argued the West’s values and way of life were under threat, but the West was struggling to summon the will to defend them.”

What are the West’s values judging from our obsession with sex, drugs, money and self-centered amoral gratification?

Furthermore, its no shock we have not the will to defend our “values” if our values are morally bankrupt.

More strategists are looking at the current situation and seeing parallels to the Pre-WWI world, where the political players prefer to sneak around on each other while ignoring terror (Serbia, etc.) and other trouble spots (the Hapsburgs, the Ottoman's, etc.) thinking that any eventual war will be no big deal.

However, with nuke weapons, casualties and destruction could easily and quickly go to back to WWI levels and rework our planet’s governments and infrastructure.

Mine are not... give me a nuke and I’ll prove it to you.

Oh yeah. Like this is going to happen. We can’t even summon the courage to leave the waterboarding option open for interrogation of a suspect who might know where a ticking nuke is. And suddenly we’re going to summon the gonads to go around policing the world for errant nukes.

Oh yea. Like that is going to happen.

Are you morally bankrupt? I surely am not...

Glad these NATO commanders have a pair, and are interested in defending the world from rogues...

Thanks...
