The first crisis of the Second Cold War?

Over the past several years, the Russian Federation has taken a posture that is increasingly antagonistic and hostile toward the US and NATO. Recent Russian military activity and the Kremlin’s stances on Iran and Kosovo indicate a potential for confrontation with the West. We assess that the Kosovo situation in particular could be a catalyst for this confrontation.

Kosovo’s quest for independence from Serbia has been largely ignored by Western policymakers and the media, but this volatile issue could quickly become a global crisis, pitting Kosovo and its NATO allies against the Russian Federation.

Putin has explicitly stated that they will not tolerate Kosovo independence, yet many Western leaders do not seem to comprehend the gravity of this dangerous situation. Strategic Intelligence Estimates.com believes Russia will deploy its military forces to Kosovo in the event that independence is declared.

The treaty that ended the Kosovo War gave the Kremlin the right to deploy its military to the region, but the Russian economy and military were too weak to exercise this option in the late 1990s.

Aw c'mon.... you know that big super powers wouldn't get in a war over some backwater, podunk little country like Kosovo, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia or Montenegro.

gee, it's not like we'd have a world war or anything.....right?

Now let's see which legislators, bureaucrats, candidates and talking heads paid attention in history class..... and thought about mistakes that may have been made in the past.

It's actually much more involved than that.

Many of the same so-called "neo-conservatives" in the Defense Department under the Bush administration who orchestrated the war in Iraq were among the only people outside the Democratic Party to openly support the Clinton administration's military campaign against Serbia in 1999.

The future history books will state that neo con American century ended before it even started, in 1999.

Ruskies have lost the Cold War and cheerfully embraced all things American. Better system won, and Ruskies had no tears fro Communism. They felt liberated, not defeated.

According to Hansen case, Boris Yeltsin was an American spy and Ruskies knew it -Hansen reported this to his Russian masters. Behind the scenes and the prop of Drunken Sailor Yeltsin, KGB built the firewall. They only needed an excuse to bring their man back to power.

The opportunity appeared when U.S. and Canada started savage bombing of civilian targets in Serbia, and even more when savage racist propaganda appeared in Western media against the Serbs as a people. All that Communist propaganda indoctrinated Ruskies about NATO, turned out to be true and Russians could see that with their own eyes on Western sattellite channels in their homes.

For KGB, Albright Berger Cohen gang was priceless as were White House news conferences.

Russian love affair with all thing American ended overnight. Russians felt cheated. They woke into American nightmare from their American dream.

The rest is history. Zippergate effectively sunk PNAC.

Since attack on Serbia in 1999 , PNAC fraudsters managed to unite India, Russia, China and Persia in military cooperation. A formidable feat, haviung in mind rivalry and suspicion between them.

It is interesting that Neo cons on FR are silent when it comes to Kosovo news. Mention Kosovo to them and suddenly, cat eats their PC mouse.

Perhaps fraudsters never heard Bismarck's advice that Balkan is not worth the bones of a single Pommeranian grenadier. Meddling into Balkans ended three empires in 20th century. PNAC guys lined up to be the fourth.

The ineptitude now coming from The White House is descending to levels we haven't seen since the last days of the Carter administration. He might have started by wanting to be the next Ronald Reagan, but GW Bush will end by being the new Jimmy Carter.

It's also worth noting that those PNAC folks were such big fans of the Chechen separatist movement, too. Do some research on a group called the American Committee on Peace in Chechyna -- a lobbying group that's basically a front for neo-conservatives -- and notice how many of their members are also on PNAC's board.

They don't even call the group the American Committee on Peace in Chechnya anymore. After the Beslan massacre exposed their agenda in support of radical militants, they changed their name to the American Committee on Peace in the Caucasus.

I always find it entertaining to mention this little tidbit to neo-con apologists here on FreeRepublic. The silence gets to be pretty deafening.
