Identity theft is already child’s play, and she neglects to address how this will affect our twenty million uninvited guests.
I hate articles that use “Amerika” “Amerikkka” etc. It’s childish. It’s usually leftists who do this, but sometimes far right nutters too.
People who oppose Real I.D. tend to have a not-very-secret open borders agenda. Wihtout some verifyable form of ID attempts to stop illegal invasion will falter. I heard Chertoff on the radio being interviewed. Today the border patrol has something like 1,000 types of ID that people can use to gain entry to the USA. (They are cutting that way down shortly.)
“If this law is actually implemented, it will mean the end of privacy and freedom. “
I find it hard to take her seriously when she makes statements like this.
We already have a National ID card. It’s called the social security card. It consists of a piece of paper, a number and a name. As far as I can tell it is the most easily forged combination of elements you can get to still be considered an ID.
Just wait until you have to have your ID scanned before starting your car.
This’ll be no more an intrusion on freedom than a driver’s license is. You’ve got to show it everytime you’re pulled over, and to cash checks or use credit cards. The Texas Gov’t didn’t use my driver’s license to “end freedom”.

Another nonsense article.

I have thought a lot about this because there is some valid reason for concern about abuse of a national id card. Still, I cannot get too worked up about the Real ID thing. Real ID seems like a pretty rational balance between the threat of terrorism and the threat of government control of individuals.
I don’t read articles by people who think they are making a cogent point by spelling the name of our nation with a ‘k’.
I have found that they are neither as original nor thoughtful as they would like to think they are, and can be ignored without issue.
Anybody that writes “Amerika” should be shot.
It is INCREDIBLY annoying and childish.
As for Real ID, we finally have a national ID. A few years ago, everyone wanted it.......now many of the same people just have to find something to criticize by screaming “no privacy.”
Give me a break.
FR needs a sheep herder.
If the check is valid, yes. Too much anonymity lost on this front already.
Should parents hire baby-sitters they know nothing about?
No, but the information to be gained from this isn't really all that helpful in that scenario, and/or the full information won't be available to us serfs anyway, and/or it's way more detail than anyone should have to give to get a babysitting gig.
Should airlines let passengers on board without validating their identity?
Yes. I miss the days when you could sell an unused plane ticket without giving the airline another bite at the apple. That's what's really behind them wanting to know who you are anyway. Besides, why should they be able to know everything about you, just so you can do business with them? I get pissed when the grocery store tries to pull that crap; I don't want an airline to do it to me either. Especially if they stop making us travel disarmed.
My son is only 6, but he already knows PHP and SQL. I am making sure he learns all the tricks of the hacker trade so we can defeat Nazi technology such as RealID. I highly suggest if you have several kids, to try and make sure one is a hacker and another is a lawyer, to future-proof your family.
Maybe by then people will have found enough collective testosterone to get mad and act.
And of course, it will be far too late.
Mark of the damn beast...!
“REAL ID” as opposed to what, the SS cards, drivers license, Passports, employee verification etc. etc. etc. The Gov’s done a real A-1 job at keeping the night watch on those.
Folks this is the G-O-V-E-R-N-M-E-N-T we are talking about...when was the last time they had a “good” idea? All I smell is abuse down the road by the bureaucracy, who will expand it for their purposes. ID hackers and theives will inevitably find a way around the new system to rip people off, which, very arguably could lead to an inserted chip.
I don’t particularly like the idea of some yahoo looking at all my personal information as if they were a check-in clerk at the airlines.
My bet is that they are just looking for $$$, I havent met a local, city, county state or fed agency yet that gives two sh!ts about my freedom...their independence is for sale though...
