Name a state in that south that Romney can win, Feb 5 or in the general.

Not including FL.

“Rudy is receiving three times the free media that Mitt is. The MSM wants yet another comeback.”

Yeah .... anyone but Mitt who COULD defeat the Demoncrat, Hillary. Hillary will get the Demoncratic nomination by hook or crook.

Rudy's absolutely INCREDIBLE drop in such a short period of time--rivals that of Howard Dean. It's truly 'mind-boggling' that he is now behind in NY--the state that 'knows him best',,,,,loves him,,,,and in most in-tune with his liberal social positions.

Rudy's HUGE, GIGANTIC DROP IS ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDING!!!!

(especially given the fact that he had 'name recognition' that most candidates could only dream of in their wildest dreams--and name recognition that millions and millions of dollars CANNOT BUY!!!) Just think--it was only a few months ago that Huckabee was a complete unknown.

Well, FReepers got what they wanted - a tanking Rudy.

And McCain in his place. Not much of a switch.

Way way back when people were saying (was it Bob Novak?) that McCain was the establishment candidate, I thought they must be nuts. Never happen. Now I’m starting to think that’s who we’re gonna get.

“Mitt needs to win in Florida and beat Mclame and Rootie.”

Yup!

The Huckelbilly is toast - he hasn’t got the money and his small base won’t carry him. He’d lose on the national level. Hucks appeal is to the ignornat humanist that doesn’t know what Christianity is - financed by socialism.

LOL!

I really liked Rooty’s brilliant strategy of taking himself out of the race and savin’ it all for Florida!

That worked about as well as his brilliant strategy of leaving all the emergency centers in the WOT after knowing they were a target before he took office.

Doesn’t that show us all what a great man of strategy he would be if POTUS? /s

I can’t imagine anyone here on FR is going to celebrate McCain leading the polls. McCain has stood strong on Iraq, and he deserves admiration on that. Outside of that fact, he is nothing but a thorn in the side of conservatism. Rudy is not a social conservative but he represents a much stronger fiscal and foreign policy side than McCain. McCain my be pro-life, but he is a pending disaster for the cause due to his main goal of ‘getting along’ with the Washington elite and media.

My first two choices are now falling precipitously ...

Thompson’s done.

Giuliani’s almost done.

So — Romney, I guess?

Perhaps, New Yorkers realize that real heroes put on uniforms and serve their country, rather than make stump speeches in front of a burning building.

Rudy’s HUGE, GIGANTIC DROP IS ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDING!!!!”

Agreed.

The big question for many months was, can Giuliani really kick everyone’s butt in FL and on Feb. 5 if he foregoes all the early states. For MONTHS it looked like the answer was yes. He led by over 40 points at one time in NJ.

But then, as these early states rolled in Giuliani was way down at the bottom in Ron Paul/Fred Thompson territory, I guess people in these 2/5 states started to re-think.

So, now, it appears there is a crystal clear answer to the question of whether he can ignore everything before FL. The answer is not just “no” but “HELL NO”. And it appears that not only will he not dominate 2/5, he will not even hold in NJ and NY. Amazing!

EXACTLY!!! It's unbelievable.

He had name recognition that millions and millions of dollars cannot buy,,,,name recognition that any candidate could ONLY DREAM OF,,,,a huge lead in the polls (about a 20% lead,,,with almost 40% of Republicans having him as their preference).

He was a huge front-runner---way ahead of everyone.

But,,,BUT,,,Rudy had his OWN grand strategy--to completely throw all of that away--and go 'all-in' in Florida.

Amazing. Great foresight.

Excellent news. He is even trailing in NY, and for good measure the NY Times ran a hit piece on the former mayor.

Maybe his “campaign” will go down as one of the most inept in modern history.
