From the article: The former first lady, who met King as a teenager in Chicago seven years before he was gunned down in 1968, paid tribute to Obama as an "extraordinary young African-American man."
Obama is 46.
For those unaware, it is a racial slur to refer to an adult black male as 'boy.' After Guy Milner called a black man who refused to shake his hand 'boy' his campaign was over.
While she didn't use the term 'boy' here, it sure sounds suggestive of the slur and is exceptionally insulting. He's a grown, accomplished, married man with children.
If an R did this, you know the media would be all over it.
He's actually clean too!
Im just gonna reach a safe distance before that one erupts.
"Now, we know, even as we take this moment of joy and celebration, that the work is far from finished, the dream is nowhere fulfilled," she said. There are no rich blacks. No middle-class blacks. No blacks in any of the major universities in this country. No black doctors, lawyers, generals or members of the cabinet. No black judges, which of course means no black judges sitting on the Supreme Court of the United States.
There are no blacks living in any communities anywhere in America where there are also whites and other races. There is segregation in the housing market. Blacks are locked in ghettos and can't move out, can't live wherever they want.
There is no chance for a black to get a good job, a good income, live in a good neighborhood and send their children to the same schools as white kids. School segregation, like housing segregation, is complete.
There are no black athletes playing on major sports teams, no black musicians, no black actors and no black radio talk show hosts.
Blacks are completely locked out of American society.
"the dream is nowhere fulfilled"
LOLs, did your Who is Huma question get answered by the mighty FR research team? Keep your eyes peeled on camera footage of Hill and Huma will almost always show up in the b/g. It is beyond creepy, IMO.
Call her on this? He hasn’t even called her on the more obvious and totally OUTRAGIOUS comment on Obama not being ready for the WH because he “hasn’t done the SPADE work”
And the loathsome lib media hasn’t said a word.
Well, 46 is quite young for a presidential candidate. Especially compared to Romney, McCain, Thompson, and Hillary. And he’s still a number of years younger than Edwards and Huckabee.
People are too sensitive these days and try to find racism inherent in every word and action.
They both must think it does since they've both invoked the name of Ronaldus Magnus in the past week or so.....
What was really ugly is how many times John McCains names was mentioned in this debate. Our station looped all the McCain comments. Like he was already chosen as our nominee. It was “I’m more capable of beating McCain” - No I am , No I am, .......
“I bet he and Michelle let fly quite a few epithets when conversing about Hillary and Bill.”
Our household has a least one thing in common with the Obama’s...
I would bet a sizable sum of money on that. I take your bet, Sir.
“the dream is nowhere fulfilled”
She don’t feel no ways taaared, either.
Thanks. Looks like you’re close.
Thanks, I think... LOL.
LOL, good move. I think I got some of it on me.
Well, I got a link. Ewwwwwwww... LOL
I know, the media has lowered itself beyond biased to the macabre absurd.
Got a pic?
I'll stick by it. It's a back-handed compliment. He's a grown, adult man. She is trying to minimize him in this way. It was practiced. It's like saying 'bless your heart' in the south, but with a racial overtone.
This is just like the biden quote (thanks Skypilot) about him being a 'clean' black man, except Biden meant no real harm.
I agree it was back-handed, and a bit patronizing. I disagree on the racial overtone. "Boy" has an ugly history; using "young man" to imply "boy" is just too meta. I don't think Hillary would go to that much effort to work in an insult that few would be likely to catch.
Not to mention, it's a double-edged sword; it plays to Hillary's base, which is mostly over 42, but hurt her with Obama's, which is mostly under. 42 is where there's a pretty clear divide in the polls. I guess we know the question to the answer now.
My senior year of college, I had a black roommate named Danny. One day, when we were engaged in some good-natured joshing, I began a sentence with "Boy ..." in my best Foghorn Leghorn accent. This was something I did with white, Asian, etc. friends, as well. It's like calling someone "kid" or "skippy" or "sparky," because you're a wise old man, all of two years older.
I caught myself, and apologized to Danny. It took him a couple of seconds to realize why I was apologizing, and he brushed it off.
