RACINE, Wis. -- A right to life group in Racine is under fire after mailing controversial material to 44,000 people.
It included an informational letter, a fundraising envelope and a small plastic fetus.
Mystical Listrom said she was not happy with what she found inside when she opened a letter from Wisconsin Right to Life accompanied by a plastic fetus.
"It's my right to choose to do what I want with my body. I shouldn't have people telling me what I can and can't do with my body," Listrom said.
Her neighbor, Glenda Pollock, got the same package.
"If they had sent a letter explaining why they think abortion should not be allowed, I wouldn't have a problem with that. It was the plastic fetus that bothered me," Pollock said.
"We thought it would be appropriate to send out some information to get people talking about the subject," said Dave Obernberger of Wisconsin Right to Life.
Dave and Bonnie Obernberger, with the Racine County chapter of Wisconsin Right to Life, are the people behind the mailing.
They said the plastic figure represents an 11- or 12-week fetus.
They sent it out this week to mark the 35-year anniversary of Roe Vs. Wade, the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion.
"I pray that they'll look at it a little more than being offended by it, but being educated by it," Dave Obernberger said.
The Obernbergers said they have already gotten some response, and they expect more.
Pollock wasted no time having her voice heard. She brought the package to the post office and mailed it back.
"I had to pay to have it returned because it was a non-profit mailing, which I was happy to pay. It was just over $1 and it was well worth it," Pollock said.
Pollock filed a complaint with the U.S. Postal Service; however, it doesn't appear to be illegal.
Postal officials said it doesn't fit their standards of obscene or lewd, but they said people can fill out a form that would prevent them from getting mail from Wisconsin Right to Life in the future.
The mailers were sent to every home in Racine and to some of the surrounding suburbs.
Enjoy the King Cake.
Hey Mystical, what say you about seatbelt laws, helmet laws, drug consumption laws, etc. etc. etc.??? How about vaccinations requirements? All having to do directly or indirectly with your precious body, and you have nothing to say. Why is that?
What they ought to do is send a 20 week old fetus in little assemble-it yourself pieces.
So she’s advocating for those who disagree to lose thier First Amendment rights? Notice that what she is complaining about is not actually a violation of her rights, but that someone sent a message to het.
I think that seeing this might have a much more profound effect on most people than receiving a plastic fetus in the mail.

You dont have a right to not be offended-PING.
Well, at least we know there are two completely brain dead women in Racine.
Ping
Do you really think these two whiners would have become pro-lifers if some other method was used?
they would at least have a chance to be reached in the future. Shock methods close minds for a long time.

44,000 and only two complained? Seems like a statiscially unoffensive means of education to me.
I have a hard time seeing this as a “shock method.” Showing photographs of aborted babies is a shock method, and I have extremely mixed feelings about those who use them as pro-life propaganda. But these are no more offensive than those little pins with baby feet on them.
Methinks Mystical doth protest too much.
I heard this on the radio the other morning and at first I thought they had mailed actual fetuses...and was greatly relieved to hear that that wasn’t true, LOL!
The publicity is good for the cause, but I don’t think mailing these things to people that don’t care/deny/refuse to accept that abortion kills a baby, will sway them anyway.
I’ve asked this before and I’ll ask this again; Why don’t the anti-abortion crowd approach this problem from the angle of pushing ADOPTION, versus stopping abortion? Until we get Roe v. Wade reversed (which I really think could happen with some decent LEADERSHIP in Congress) I’ve always thought that THAT is where the “changing hearts and minds” part could be MUCH more effective.
Convince young women that, yep, you made a HUGE mistake by getting pregnant out of wedlock, but Sweetie! It can be fixed. It’s not the end of your world if you have this child, give it to parents that WANT it and will give it a good life...and then you can go back to college, or high school, or your career, etc. CONVINCE them that ADOPTION Is the noble thing to do. It’s the RIGHT thing to do. It’s the ONLY thing to do!
We also need to involve teen fathers because the hole is going to be in THEIR heart forever and ever Amen, too. And don’t forget the Grandparents. Man, Alive! If I had done this to my parents, they would’ve been CRUSHED to know that I had killed their Grandchild!
I don’t WANT to see even one child killed...but in reality, that horse is so far out of the barn by now that it’s in the next county!
Sad, but true. I think the whole focus of the “campaign” so to speak, needs an excellent Marketing and PR plan. It needs a total re-vamp. It’s too emotional an issue to get anyone to listen to you until we can crack that veneer of the lies that the Left has fed us (and the young women of today) for all of these decades.
Abortion on demand? Oh, that’s in the Constitution! BS, it is!
Let’s get bizzy! :)
