Please check out Phsstpok’s EXCELLENT Sunday Talk Show PRE-Thread. It’s a great way to hear analysis on why the DBM picks the guests, what they’ll probably discuss, and other pertinent facts. Also, check out his blog!

Thanks, AB & Good Morning to EveryOne! Congrats to last week's top posters!

Yesterday's Surprise: Fox turning to left of CNN. And then this from Wash.Post front-pager:

This Time, McCain Defused Conservative Attacks.

Really? MSM is going to help McCain, like in 2000?

Does anyone have any confirmation of a statement made by hanity last night that 40% of the expected FL primary votes have ALREADY been cast?

I expect todya to be a RINOpalooza with the left wing media trying to spin out conservatives.

Good morning.

Last night was a dark day for conservatism and quite frankly I’m not in much of a mood for political wrangling. You know, with each passing day I see myself becoming more and more radical in my views on the future of this nation and the media that seems to control it.

We have all of the major candidates (or representatives thereof) except Fred Thompson on air this week, a whole boatload of Democrats, and not a single non-candidate Republican.

Ratings coming up...

Morning all!

Perhaps Senator Thompson should give some thought to hanging in there.

I see H. Ross escaped and is looking to make trouble for McCain.

It seems Huckleberry, wasn't pulling conservative votes in S.C. and he'll be running on fumes outside the evangelical areas.

Romney is racking up delegates but still isn't capturing CONSERVATIVE hearts and minds.

Giuliani won't get traction outside larger states and RP is a clown.

This is a war of attrition, Senator Thompson, we can prevail or at least leave a serious bruise!

Interesting commentary this morning from the Politico.com commentator on Fox&Friends.

He was going on about how the current combined results of the primaries/caucuses 'show the Republicans in disarray' as they cannot seem to find a desired candidate.

However, he summed up the Democrats, with 3 vying for the nomination and none the clear runaway leader at this point, "have 3 strong candidates."

==

No bias in his commentary -- if you have an IQ that is lower than the temperature in Kansas this morning.

CNN Tally January 20, 2008

Pledged* delegates to date

Republicans 1,191

Romney 66
Huckabee 26
McCain 38
Thompson 8
Paul 6
Giuliani 1

Democrats 2,025

Clinton 36
Obama 38
Edwards 18

*Pledged delegates to date.

Three Republicans and eleven Democrats on the Sunday Morning Talk Shows and no Fred Thompson. Now THAT’S fair and balanced!

G’day All!

Let us remember, this Day of Rest...

Some who are indeed Conservatives need to stay in the game and keep prayerfully slogging on and not be dismayed and sidelined.

Some who THINK they are Conservatives aren’t; the U.S. Constitution DEFINES Conservatism. Please prayerfully rethink your positions.

Beyond that, there are many who are in America while America is not in them and they are definitely voting, early, often and Liberal. Please prayerfully stand against these threats.

I was impressed with the Fox Mitt Romney interview. Not just for content but for style.

MR comes across as extremely intelligent and in command of his thoughts and beliefs. He surely must be the most intelligent of the candidates. Note, that he does not hem and haw, say "eh" or have any other verbalisms designed to give him time to think. He is a very fast thinker.

That said, MR has a problem in that his staccato like speech more than covers the ground but in a rapid fire, machine gun like approach.

Admittedly, he was pressed for time so this might be part of the problem but I have seen this before. Someone has to grab him by the scruff of his neck and tell him that the average listener needs more time between words and above all he doesn't want to be labeled as a "fast talker" aka a person seen by the ordinary as a characteristic of psychopathy.

FWIW if I were MR Romney's handler I would suggest he master the first word he ever learned--CAT. An acronym for contact, awareness and finally therapeutic or political strategy.

He needs to focus on making contact his first priority. Then he can bring whatever he chooses from background to foreground. This is usually all that is required for success--including in political discourse. The idea is communicate your message after making genuine contact with the audience. Finally, what ever therapeutic strategy he works on it must be brief and effective.

One strategy he has not discovered is how to make criticism take a U turn. The trick is to say, "I am sorry you are critical about me and _____________." Then he could launch into an alternative view without being defensive. The idea is to make the questioner or critic own or accept his own criticism. This may not be easy, especially when dealing with journalists who like to cloak their questions by allegeing they belong to someone else.

In any case handling blunt assertions of a critical nature is something he has to master in the political arena. Other answers are sometime, "Oh, really" (as if this is so implausible it does not merit discussion) or "I hear your criticism but...."

The MSM, Rats, and RINO’s are trying to kill Ronald Reagan!

I CALL UPON ALL CONSERVATIVES AND REAGAN REPUBLICANS TO UNIT.

I call upon the “National Review” to place all back issues on a disk (similar to what the “New Yorker”). They could index the volume by topics much like the FR. That disk along with the writings of Goldwater, Kirk and Burke.

We must study the brilliance of RR, the young Buckley and Kirk.
