I said go for Fred in South Carolina because I wanted to give Thompson a chance to mix this race up.
But Fred fell short now and the main concern of mine is to beat McCain.
There's a media orgasm-coronation going on right now and we have to have straight heads to stop it.
Lets not infight and let trolls lead us atray.
Here's a serious look at how to defeat a man who's a virtual Democrat and a traitor to the conservative cause in this country.
McCain-Feingold made the First Amendment into toilet paper.
The law was designed to protect incumbent politicians by keeping little candidates from getting outside support to defeat entrenched politicians.
And we all have a list of what McCain has done to help Democrats and hurt Conservatives from the Gang of Fourteen on down.
Straight heads must prevail at this point.
I've heard two guys on two different networks (David Gergen on CNN, Bill Sammon of the "Washington Examiner" on Fox News) point out that Thompson is a "friend" of McCain. Sammon suggested Fred will endorse McCain.
That should settle the issue I brought up some weeks ago about Fred being a McCain front if it pans out.
Fred can't do much if he stays in right now but hold Tennessee which if he wants to run there on February 5th makes me happy enough.
McCain must be defeated by tactical voting.
I only hope Giuliani doesn't collapse from the media wave before we reach New York on February 5th. Its a winner take all primary and the only candidate who can take out McCain there is Rudy.
In New York and New Jersey on February 5th, I'm certain Rudy is the anti-McCain vote to defeat him there. You have to vote Rudy there to stamp out the McCain Mutiny.
Romney will contest Florida so vote for him there on the 29th to stop McCain.
Huckabee at least campaigned against McCain in the last few days in South Carolina.
The return the illegals pledge he signed along with on-air (MSNBC) criticism of McCain-Feingold I saw was clearly aimed at McCain.
But yes Huckabee always says nice things about McCain.
Maybe that's just his style.
If Huckabee is a shill for McCain, lets make Huck prove it by giving him wins and delegates in states where he is strongest. On February 5th, that will be Oklahoma, Alabama and or course Arkansas.
Back to Romney, he's the obvious choice in Utah, Colorado and Massachusetts on February 5th.
Romney should probably contest Missouri so you know who to vote for there.
Wouldn't it be nice if the native son of Missouri who's name inspired mine finally came out of the closet for Romney?
Is he fiddlin around while the Republican Party burns?
Emporer McCain and his media buddies are torching the place right now.
Focus your vote in the next few weeks on the strongest possible candidate in your state to defeat McCain.
Its straight heads time and I won't attack Huck, Romney or Rudy at this point because I'm not in the McCain helping business.
The grim task is to knock McCain down so hopefully a conservative alternative can rise up (that would probably be Romney). (ALL CRITICS CAN SHUT UP AT THIS POINT BECAUSE YOU ONLY HELP MCCAIN BY TRASHING ROMNEY)
But I will accept the other two as alternatives.
Get real, don't let the beltway crowd steal the Republican Party away from us.
THE ESTABLISHMENT CANDIDATE IS MCCAIN.
Guys like former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Alexander Haig, the Rockefeller Republicans are in the McCain camp.
Also President Bush's friend, former Homeland Security Secretary and PA Governor Tom Ridge is on the McCain bandwagon.
On Friday, by the way, Ridge called "waterboarding torture. That echoes the McCain position of course.
The hard numbers show that McCain is at least 10 times more conservative than Hillary.
Look for yourself: Congressional Ratings
While you're still thinking clearly I'll let you in on a little secret, despite what you may have heard ... Romney is not the second coming of Reagan.
Same old Sh— different day!
Guiliani is already done. He’s got fewer declared delegates than Ron Paul (6). Rudy’s got just as many as Hunter (1), and Hunter dropped out. Romney’s at 72, and McCain’s at 38. This is with 6 states done (12% of the 50), and with eastern states (NH) and large cities (Detroit) already having ignored him.
You're correct, he's acting like he invented the surge.
However, many 4 Star Freeper Arm Chair Generals were hollering for the surge way back in 2004 when Fallujah One, went down, when they burned and hung the Blackwater Contractors.
McCain is just doing a "me too", a few years too late.
Okay, I'llshut up quit being an FR arm-chair general for today.
Actually I suspect that McCain will beat Hillary because the “moderates” will put him over the top. Unfortunately the attitudes found on this board are the minority this election year.
I would hope for actual conservatism to win out at the convention. But, alas, populism seems to be the trend now.
Wrong. Mark Levin highlighted the fact that in none of McCain statements in opposition to the tax cuts, did McCain mention cutting spending. He said he was against the cuts because they "benefit the rich." McCain is an outright liar and mentally unstable. His rapid support of AGW alone should make any rational person despise him. McCain will NEVER get my vote. In fact with discussions last night with friends and family we concluded we would vote democrat if the nut case McCain is nominated. With McCain as President his unstable mental state could result in a bad war. He true liberal nature would cause him to seek Teddy's advice on S.C. Nominees. His was the one vote that stopped drilling in ANWAR.
McCain hates conservatives. He has always been at hoe cozying up to liberals
If my beloved Republic is to be destroyed by rabid Socialism, let it be by the hands of a Rat.
I absolutely agree with you. I know this may be wishful thinking on my part, but I feel Fred still has a shot in the southern states where the demographics are different than SC. SC is not as conservative as some of the Dixie states and there is not as strong a military vote in some of them, such as went for McCain. If only we could get rid of Huckabee, those votes would most probably go to Fred. At least most of them. My fear is that if Fred gets out, some of his votes may go to the Huckster and he will get the nomination.
In my opinion, he’s the worst and sneakiest, because he is using religion and Jesus to fool voters. I think that is so despicable. But I know that God does not sleep, and he will not look kindly on someone who uses Him this way.
In general the hanging with while hes still hanging on philosophy risks McCain getting Florida. Stopping McCain in Florida is the most important goal, and that wont happen voting for a candidate who:
1) Cannot win because he has no ability to compete in major media markets in the big states Feb 5
2) Is splitting the anti McCain vote, much too dangerously in Florida
3) Cannot do anything in a brokered convention because in 850 million dollar races the big donors will not tolerate elevating a 50 delegate candidate over a 1000 delegate candidate. And 50 delegates doesnt buy a VP slot over a 500 delegate candidate. If his glowing principles are to be the reason to be VP, he gets that with or without 50 delegates. So . . . theres no upside to risking McCain in Florida
In the final analysis it is all about last year. The enormous earthquake of conservative rage at McCains Amnesty Bill was the single most profound act of the right wing anger since the 2000 attempt by Gore to steal Florida.
To act now in any way that REWARDS McCain for his treachery last year for his literal sneering in the face of conservatism renders that entire event last year nothing more than mere petulance. The shouts were that he will pay. ANY act taken now to allow him to escape punishment defiles the dignity of last years victory.
And so, the choice is clear. It is not one of voting FOR Romney which is a concept the Thompson folks wont want to fully embrace. It is, rather, one of honoring last years effort and punishing the perpetrator.
Romney would be a good 2nd option. Mcrazy is not different than hitlery, neither will get my vote.
He's a rino. He gave Mass a healthcare bill that requires people to purchase health insurance or pay fines. I'm sorry that's communist at the core! Just look at the wishy-washy stance he's taken this primary season along.
Ann probably likes him because of his hair! ;-)
This is one of the greatest myths of this election cycle. The MSM has not even started looking at Romney, let alone his closet.
Take 15 minutes to search youtube. You'll find more trash on Romney than Paris Hilton.
Does anyone bring up the fact that Romney is a Mormon Bishop? Wait until the MSM runs with that, we'll never hear the end of it! They'll make the whisper campaigns against Romney look like child's play.
We haven't heard anything about his leveraged buy-outs where hundreds of people lost their jobs.
The only argument I've heard for Romney (and it's a terrible one) is that the MSM doesn't like him, so he must be a conservative.
That is one of the worst arguments I've ever heard, but yet Coulter and Rush trumped it up as the single most important qualification for being the GOP nominee. Since the Old MSM has complete control over who it criticizes and who it doesn't, we've turned our selection process over to them. Especially since it's well know that Rush and the New MSM are using that as a guage. It wouldn't take much foresight for the Old MSM to criticize the candidate they want to get the nom.
I've always laughed at DH supporters when they would make statements like this, thinking to myself, well, none of these guys are that bad that I would sit it out. But now that we are on the verge of a McCain nomination, I can see where they were coming from. McCain brings nothing to the table to make me go out and vote for him and I believe he will get steamroolled in a general election, so why bother. Even with FRed as VP, I'd be uninspired with a McCain nomination.
I don't know who is the most conservative of McCain, Romney, Huckabee, or Giuliani. What I do know is Romney is NOT owned by Soros, and McCain is and has been for a long, long time. If at election time, the choice is between Hillary and McCain, then there is NO choice as both are owned and operated by Soros.
Sorry, let me correct this typo-ridden sentence with a vengence.
Just look at the wishy-washy stances he's taken this primary season alone. I don't know how many times he's changed his principles about life's issues?
Really? How do you know what Romney actually believes? When he says something, do you have some way of determining whether he is actually pandering to you? Do you know ONE politician, except Fred, whom I prefer but who won’t win, who does not pander? Romney is the last best hope we have and I think a decent family man and business man who will see the big picture and lead this country honorably.
This is nuts. It makes no sense what so ever that the Republicans have shot themselves in the foot, but the alternative scenario of feeling sorry for our selves when the Beast becomes President is a nightmare that I wont sit back and watch. No thanks. I don't pick on girls. My Husband and I will back McCain (reluctantly)because our number one issue - above all else- is the military and national security.
So those of you who want to stomp your feet and stay home election day instead of voting to keep the Clintons out of the Whitehouse, please tell me how far you will let this go before you get over yourselves?
Flame away.
That would be Tweedle-"D" and Tweedle-Dumb...
I don't know, but I know they have left me. Going to change my registration to IND next week. No reason to stay until the primary ends with Hunter out.
