None of the other GOP candidates pose a threat close to what McCain poses. A vote for McCain in the primaries, is a vote for Hillary and Obama. On concerns regarding McCain's mental health alone, he is likely to lose in the general election. While he is MSM candidate in the primaries, he will not be in the general election.
That’s one way of seeing it.
I don’t want to walk away from the GOP but I’m going for some resolution here short of McCain.
A senator is clearly a losing candidate based on the last 30 years of elections for sure.
6. From complacency to apathy;
THIS IS WHERE WE ARE (I’ll vote for anyone with an R)
7. From apathy to dependence;
THIS IS WHAT WE WILL LEAVE OUR CHILDREN
If it’s McLame/Clinton Inc, millions will stay home or vote third party.
But don’t you think that that was because it fit in Mass.? I suspect his weakness of changing positions on issues works in our favor. If the base gets fired up enough ala Harriet Miers and immigration he’ll bend to us. McCain on the otherhand will just call us hacks.
My bad, MG43 should be MG42.
Excellent analysis. I was Fred supporter up until last night when he fell far short of expectations. His own expectations as well. Staying in the race at this point just gives McCain a leg up states he shouldn’t have a shot in. When you take the combined votes for Huck, Thompson and Romney it all adds up to McCain not having any business winning in South Carolina. Huckabee will fizzle as he runs out of Evangelicals leaving Romney, Guliani and McCain. I am now supporting Romney, the best of the three remaining.
Sorry. You can work yourself all into a tizzy, but it has no impact on me.
...where do you go from here?
One name...Reagan!
I go to fight for conservatism in the Republican party. What do think happened in 1994 when "The Contract With America" was developed? Remember in 1996 when there was all this talk about abolishing all these useless departments and how the dems were screaming? What have the Conservatives done since then? My point is why lose by giving in, instead of fighting. It's like taking the third strike. You never even give yourself a chance. Republican moderates are the bane of this party and need to just sit down and shut up and let the adults, who understand responsibilty and accountability run things!! More things get done and accomplished for the good of America when conservatives do what they say they'll do!
So where do I go from here? I go try to get conservatives elected within the Repub party, instead of allowing the moderates to think they matter, because we all know they don't. Infact, they are detrimental to this country because they NEVER accomplish anything except bad government!
ie..McPainintheass/Findgold
Fred ran a “national” campaign that would have made Harold Stassen proud.
Never seen a worse effort.
Dick Cheney, please answer the phone.
Your country needs you.
And how does eight years of Hillary help us?
I understand your frustration because I'm very close to that same point myself. But there are degrees of evil and there are degrees of good, and except for Rudy I believe that any of the remaining Republican candidates are preferable to any Democrat still left in the race. But as I said earlier this morning, now that Fred is out of contention for all practical purposes the November election is guaranteed to be the most disastrous presidential election in the lifetime of any living American.
Fred’s supporters have a mind of their own and are likely to split evenly among the other top 4 contenders.
I believe the real question will be what happens when Rudy loses Florida?
If we have Mitt, Mike, and John, how do Republican’s and Independents allocate their support in that scenario?
How could you forget McCain’s global warming nonsense and running around the stump with AL GORE’S running mate for a platform? ;-)
Actually, it’s pathetic that you will sacrifice your principls in an effort not to.
You’re making a mistake in backing McLame. Let Hitlery win...four years of her will make the country so conservative you won’t believe it.
We took the pain of Carter we can take Hitlery.
He could have switched and became a Democratic hero, but he stuck with the Republicans.
He did oppose the tax cuts, because he wanted to cut spending as well. In hindsight, that wouldn't have been a bad thing. We got our butts kicked last year because of out of control spending.
The obvious choice is Romney. I did that algebra months ago. It is nice to see others finally running through that equation again and coming up with the right answer too.
