Where does a Conservative go?(Vanity)
My feckless brain ^ | Me

Posted on 01/20/2008 1:18:25 AM PST by TexasMatty

As a Conservative I am lost. I will not, under any circumstances vote for John Mclame. He has sold Conservatives out. Nor will I vote for Jesus' favorite candidate Schmuckabee. I believe the most Conservative candidate is Thompson and can't help but wonder who is voting in these things. If Mclame or Schmuckabee is the nominee I can't vote. It will pain me deeply to not vote, but either of those clowns are no different from the lefty. Me question to my FRiends is.. WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO??? The situation seems rather desperate.

The most important things are to win the WOT and get the best judges we can.

McCain was supporting the surge when it wasn't cool and his buddies in the media were saying all was lost, so he should be OK on WOT.

I don't think he'd pick as good as judges as Dubya but even a Kennedy or O'Connor is much, much better than a Ginsberg or Breyer and the possibly is very real, unlike with Clinton or Obama, that he would put another Scalia or Thomas on the court.

So the conservative thing to do, if McNut should be the nominee, would be to vote for him. And if you fear him that badly, work for Romney so it doesn't happen. McCain, it appears, is actually more conservative than Huck or Julie and it's going to come down to one of those four.

And remember, one-term Democratic presidencies are very bad for this country. Think Carter and LBJ (granted he had six years).

I am pulling for Romney on competance, but would hold my nose and vote for McCain.

“I can’t vote for Mclame or pHuckabee.
Romney I will hold my nose and vote for.
What the hell has happened to the Reagan coalition.
I feel like I am in the Twilight zone.
God help us all....”

I was feeling the same way until I realized that this race is STILL WIDE OPEN! And actually, this race as JUST BEGUN!Most folks are just now starting to look at the candidates because they are not voting until Super Tuesday. A lot can happen between now and then. We all know that McCain and Huckabee can’t last past South Carolina. What state has Guiliani won so far? He has his hopes on Florida, but I don’t believe he is going to win here. Lets keep our focus on supporting Fred as long as he is fighting for us. He is not giving up! His speech last night was on every network because the MSM were just salivating for him to drop out. Well Fred snookered them all! He is not out, and after he visits his mom it is on to Florida. I am getting back to my calls here and will keep working for Fred. GO FRED!

I am not voting for any of them now that Duncan Hunter is out, let Hillary, McCain, Huckbee or Obama run the nation into the ground for 4 years.

McCain would NOT pick a fight with Ted Kennedy over the SCOTUS. We’d get, at best, a Souter.

You still have a protest vote and we can defeat the dividing hardcore commies. At least chose someone who is still an American. (McCain, Huckabee, Obama, Edwards)

That means conservatives are somewhere between 30 & 40% of the Republican ‘base’.

Not even close, unless you are counting Huckabee.

The votes show that what most people around here call "conservatives" are 15% of the GOP base vote, if that. At that level, and given they are making demands they can't back up at the polls, they are going to get slapped in the face.

I voted for Fred on California’s absentee ballot, and I at least hope he’s considered for VP, where he would drive the Dems wild like Cheney does! If not Fred, I will vote for the chosen Republican candidate. It’s most important that we stop the Dems, and I get frustrated with friends and Freepers who are so sold on their particular candidates that they swear to stay home in a huff on election day if their guy isn’t chosen.

If Fred Thompson somehow mounts a come-back and wins this thing, I will gladly eat my words. I just don’t see that happening, though. It was a fine dream, but I’m afraid it is time to move on.

You got with Romney ...and pray for a Mitt/Fred ticket.

That’s what you do.
The only chance for conservatism.

McCain would be a disaster in WOT. Even if he is not unbalanced - and IMHO he appears to be, his record on amnesty is outrageous. For example, he voted AGAINST barring violent gang members and terrorists from entering this country. That is insane.

I do not know what his problem his, but at times he is full of rage and other times he appears to be medicated. He is creepy and physically feeble.

Hillary can turn voters, especially women, easily against him by baiting him into a temper tantrum and pointing out how he betrayed his first wife and would bring the "other woman" with a history of theft and drug abuse into the White House.

If he betrayed the woman who loyally stood by him, why not also this country if it suits him? He has already shown his readiness to do just that. The Manchurian Candidate?

================================

The part missing from your equation is that without that 15% the party is screwed.

What we are witnessing is a slow motion shooting of the foot.

With three SCOTUS seats opening up in the next three years I will likely vote for McCain. At his age I will hope he will be a one term president or less and expect Jindal to be ready in that amount of time. As far as amnesty is concerned he has a big fat target on his person. If he tries to stab us in the back again we will stab him in the front and make sure he is warned(and everybody on this site is doing that). Electing him in ‘08 is the best bet for a real president in ‘12.

Just remember if you elect to not vote at all it's really TWO votes for the opposition. I'm for Romney/Thompson but would hold my nose for the McCain or Huck. In the unlikely event that John or Mike wins the presidency it will but up to real conservatives to reshape congress and influence the RINO President.

Individual Liberty - Small Government - Strong AGGRESSIVE Defense - Lower Taxes - FREE Market.

That's an argument to be made during the primary. That point becomes rather moot if he should be the nominee.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Mitt, but I don't feel an iota of the rage at McNut as expressed by some on some of these threads.

And McCain would be a infinitely better president than Edwards/Obama/Clinton.

The GOP is telling conservatives where to go, loud and clear.
