True, Fred backed Ford over Reagan, and in 80 Fred backed Howard Baker rather than Reagan

Hey, Fred came in 3rd behind two candidates who are unacceptable to the GOP.
One was carried by non-Republicans, and the other was carried by evangelicals.

Now the race moves on to states where there aren’t a large number of evangelicals and the primaries aren’t open to non-Republicans.

So now the real race begins.
We’ll see how Fred does now that the two other candidates won’t have their bases of support, and Hunterites are no longer a thorn in our side.

The way I see it, if you come in third behind two candidates whose free ride has just come to an end, that makes you the front runner.

I don’t have the time tonight to type up a reply to something you wrote over the span of weeks and have since copied it onto any 2008 thread you can find.

Face it, there is no perfect candidate this time. All of the Republican candidates have flaws. I guess it really does depend on what your core issues you are:

If you are a military hawk: McCain.
If you are a fiscal conservative: Romney
If you are a social conservative: Huckabee.

To me the war in Iraq is the biggest issue, thus the man who fought the Dems in the Senate and urged the surge is my man. Huckabee’s foreign policy experience doesn’t extend beyond battling Japanese beetles in his yard.

Huckabee more than any other candidate is aligned with the Dems on military and fiscal issues.

I’ll work on refuting your op-ed that has been pasted in every thread while you work on practicing your vote for Hillary.

If Hunter and Tancredo had endorsed Thompson before Iowa, that might have helped Fred.

Want to know why John McCain is the worst possible choice for President?

He has demonstrated he has no core convictions. He is the same sort of twist in the wind political opportunists that Bill Clinton was. His only guiding principal is to be slavishly obsequious to what ever the latest “News Media” trend is. That may win him pats on the head from the US "News Media" it is no way to run the country.

Look at his record. Media are upset about money in politics, be the cheerleader for a really stupid, unbelievably harmful CFR law. Media people are upset Iraq, posture as if you are both for and against the Iraq mission at the same time. Set up a really stupid Congressional Committee headed by a mixed bag of Dincon and Democrats to manufacture a dumb “Baker Commission” report to give you political cover for that issue. Iraq mission is turned around, as we Support the Mission people have been telling it was only a matter of time to get too, Mccain falsely allow his surrogates to claim credit for the strategy Rummy created. Media people upset about torture. Pen a vague meaningless amendment and grand stand about it less then 6 weeks before a crucial mid term election. Media upset about Gitmo. Decide you are all for closing Gitmo. Media decides Illegal Immigration is the "new Civil Rights movement" become the loudest Republican Congress critter cheerleader for Amnesty.

McCain is an unprincipled, dishonest swing in the breeze politicaco who’s only core political principal seems to be rabidly chasing after the US Junk Media’s approval. That may let him con his way into the Republican nomination, it will NOT win him a General Election. Those people will turn on McCain the second he is nominated.

But remember as your folks said there aren’t enough Hunter people to make a difference.
You can’t have it both ways.
Might want to check in at DU for further instructions

If Tancredo and Fred who both entered way later than Hunter would have endorsed Hunter that may have helped.
It works both ways

I know you wouldn't have.
You would have gone straight to Mike Huckabee instead of making a pit stop by Duncan Hunter first.
Either way that's where you and your ilk are going to wind up.
That was never in doubt.
So Hunter drops out and Huckabee gets a 0.5% bump.

I’ll vote for your cat, too. Wait. Which cat/ The NY cat or the other one? Never mind. Doesn’t matter. They’re both imminently more preferable to Schmuckabee.
