Tribute video for Congressman Duncan Hunter, who ended his candidacy for president today.
I figure I’ll keep mine on for a few months. I still see Al Gore 2004 stickers sometimes.
My my e-mail from Duncan Hunter, and I’m sure many of you received this e-mail, as well:
“It’s time for me to gear up for 2008’s defense bill that will be put together over the coming weeks. There is work to be done in the areas of troop protection and new capabilities to be deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. And over the horizon, the emergence of Communist China as a military super power will require a new emphasis on U.S. capabilities in undersea warfare, space, and long range air-power.
The best way to maintain a new era of peace is for the U.S. to remain strong. Over the coming year I will endeavor to help craft a defense bill that meets the new security challenges.
Since our campaign began over 200,000 additional manufacturing jobs have been lost. 1.8 million jobs have left the U.S. for China. This fracturing of the U.S. industrial base is a long term threat to America. I hope that the remaining candidates will recognize it and address it. As the senior Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, I will seek to address it.
Only hours ago a border patrolman was killed in the California Desert. This tragedy emphasizes more than ever the compelling case for the completion of the border fence. Since I wrote the bill that mandates 854 miles of double border fence only a few miles have been constructed. Over the next year in Congress I will do everything in my power to get that fence built.”
Duncan Hunter is STILL watching out for us!
All but one...the one I support. Of course, he’s been treated even worse than Duncan was by the press and by the party.
Who says “Thompson is soon to follow?”
You’d better hope he’s not.
And shame on Duncan Hunter for not throwing every ounce of his support to Fred.
Just shame on him.
You can say that again. I certainly hope he runs for Governor of CA!!!
What a shame Americans, even far too many on FR can no longer recognize someone who loves this country so much he's been willing to risk his life for it. "Greater love hath no man than he who will lay down his life for a friend."
Duncan Hunter IS America's BEST FRiend!!!
We should have supported him better!!!
Sad day for a strong America.
Thank all of you for adding me to your ping lists. I’m so sorry to see Congressman Hunter has dropped out.
This is a very sad day. God Bless Duncan Hunter, and all you fine folks.
Thanks for taking care of that list, Sonic. Please God, have mercy on our stupid party.
We need a weak, global, environmentally-friendly and limp wristed America.
Yes, it is a shame that so many dismissed Duncan Hunter so easily. I hope he has other plans in the future but he has earned the right to retire and take life easy. He is a class act, better than this country deserves at this point in our history.
There is some unfinished business, though. Duncan D. Hunter will still need our support in his congressional bid! I have every confidence that he is a “chip off the ol’ block”!
Dunno about that, but it will make one helluva tagline come November :D
I agree.
Thank you......and thank YOU Congressman Hunter. You showed us that there are still good Americans out there.
God Bless you, Sir. You & your family...and may God have mercy on this country.
It has been a tremendous privilege to support Duncan Hunter, a truly great American. I’m so thankful not only for the opportunity I had to witness the integrity of our conservative dream candidate, but also to post alongside an incredible group of FReepers. You people are the absolute BEST.
I also want to take this time to acknowlege and thank all the FReepers who, while supporting other candidates, maintained a high level of class, respect, and graciousness.
I intend to write in Duncan Hunter’s name when I go to vote. He still is my candidate.
I believe we should treat all the candidates with respect, even the liberal ones. But the people on this board who continued to assert that Hunter had a chance, and that the MSM was keeping it down with a tin-foil-hat conspiracy ... well, I have little patience for that.
Ping to my #195.
“...Duncan Hunter, a truly great American.::
BIG DITTO and thank you for the ping, Lauren BaRecall.
Truth hurt?
Why not show us all the great coverage the media was givng him? Prove them all wrong, post links to all the glowing coverage.
If it comes down to one of those two against a Dummicrat, I shudder to think of what it will mean for our country.
