It was not socialized medicine. It was private insurance.

Please explain to me the difference of a state requiring you to have auto insurance or health insurance?

Right. Private insurance. That the state coerces you to have under pain of punishment under the law. And those folks who chose not to have insurance and pay the fine, where do they go to get treated?

Of course you realize that this is just another stop on the express to full state-sponsored socialized medicine.
