Do you think for a second that Hillary has a shot at winning any Southern state? I surely do not.
Really? Then how do Democrats ever win statewide races down there? And they do, you know. A guy like Romney has a distinct disadvantage in the South in that he's an elite Yankee with a liberal record. Why on earth would southerners vote for a guy like that? Many wouldn't.
With Romney or Rudy on the ticket the South is in play and that's BAD news for the GOP.

See, that’s playing defense. That’s hunkering down in a trench hoping not to get over-run.
Better to lay offense. With Romney, a grab can be made for Michigan’s Electoral Votes. And California’s.
Let’s let the Democrats play defense for a change defending their trench.

How many state wide Democrat winner of Southern states have a 45% or higher negative approval rate like Hillary does at the START of the campaign? How many openly campaign as out and out political Leftists like Hillary does?
Your creating a straw-man argument here that is not based on any hard data.
