Today is the day.
I would have the same feeling that I would about McCain/AnyoneElse. No thanks. One less thing to do on election day.
It might be possible, but it wouldn't be good politics. If Fred's the nominee, I think the southern social conservatives would come around and back him. Fred would need someone (esp. a non-southerner) to bring in other voters.
I agree. They both need to go after McCain. I saw McCain get off the plane and it appeared like he had a difficult time walking. His mental condition worries me more. WTH is it with him wanting MS13 and terrorist be admitted into the country? No normal person would want that.
Do people forget the Democrats trying to get McCain to flip partys in Jan 2006? Forget that Dems wanted McCain as their VP candidate in 2004?
How quickly the supposed Conservatives for McCain forget McCains political record. From Tax-cuts to the War to Judges McCains whole strategy has been to be as Liberal as possible and stay in the GOP.
Politically there is very little difference between Hillary and McCain. You get minor variations on this and that issue, like abortion, but over all McCain and Clinton share the same political philosophical outlook
McCain has done nothing for the Conservative movement in 8 years. While talking a good game on spending, he has done nothing. He has actively worked against the Conservatives on Social issues, on the WOT, on Iraq, on Gitmo, against Rummy, on Immigration and on Judges, on Global Warming etc etc etc etc etc. McCain has far more in common with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama then he does with any Conservative.
Funny how the Talking Heads miss this. Out of 49 Republican Senators McCain has been ranked 45th by the American Conservative Union for his voting record!
McCain would be the worse of both worlds. A mislabeled Conservative Administration headed by a Bill Clinton style unprincipled political opportunists who would spend his time actively advancing the Democrat Partys agenda while knifing Conservatives in the back daily. You could even count on a McCain Administration appointing Leftist Judges in order to avoid fighting with the Democrats in the US Senate.
Tough on Foreign Policy? You think Mr Close Gitmo and extend the same legal protections US Citizens have to the terrorists McCain is going to have a tough foreign policy?
McCain would fracture the few remaining GOP Congress critters into pro and anti McCain factions. McCain would be the worst of all world politically for the Conservatives. At least with a Democrat Leftist Administration, as opposed to a McCain Leftist with a GOP Label Administration, the Democrats would get all the political fall out of their disastrous political decisions and the GOP would unite in fighting them.
The worst of all possible worlds for Conservatives in 2008 would be McCain getting elected President.
I am an atheist, but this morning I said a prayer for Fred before I turned on the PC. This one counts
GO FRED!
It’s worth being able to live with myself and my decisions. Plus, voting for someone like McCain or Huckabee would do nothing, absolutely nothing, to advance conservatism. The Republican party will be no more if either of those two gets the nod.
We don't have a "big tent." That's what liberal Republicans say they want. We have a socon/ficon/strong military base. McCain and Huck have only figured out one of the three legs of the stool apiece. If you think McCain's going to nominate justices who will interpret the Constitution constructively you're deluding yourself. If you think Huck's getting an HLA and DOMA passed, you're deluding yourself. No thanks, I'll stay home for McCain as the only reason I'd vote is for Supreme Court justices. I'd vote for Huckabee but then I'd have to vomit and take a benzodiazipine to stop the seizing.
I’m hoping that somehow Fred Thompson can beat McCain and Huckabee in South Carolina the. That way, a number of delegates will be spread out between McCain, Huckabee, and Thompson and Romney will have 3 times the delegates (after his win in Nevada today) as his closest opponent. A Thompson win in South Carolina today would be the best thing that could happen to Romney there (well, besides Romney somehow winning S.C., of course.)
I hope you’re kidding. That would be a foolish reason to vote someone into the office of president. Let your governor and legislature deal with it. God, I hope you’re kidding.
If I were voting in SC, I think I would have to conclude Fred will be gone next week...drink some Maalox...and vote for Huck. We can deal with Huck later.
Are you out of your friggin' mind? Let me get this straight.
A. You're a Fredhead.
B. You're skeptical of Fred's chances because of media polling.
C. Therefor, as a Fredhead you conclude the best course of action would be to vote against Fred.
Just brilliant.
Kucinich, even though he is just a congressmen.
What do you attribute that to? Why do they know about Huck but not Thompson? Curious as to their main source of info.
No, I only heard the first ten of 15 minutes, then was called away...and I don't have Rush 24/7, which is something I plan to rectify once we finallt the promised DSL through here!
This is where the Dobsonites are so naive in backing Huck. Fred would actually get more ACCOMPLISHED, realistically, for the pro-life cause. If, within four years--even eight--we could get a SCOTUS majority and overturn Roe v. Wade and send it back to the states, that would be PLENTY!
YEP. Otherwise known as "groupthink".
Somebody better go after McCain soon or he is going to walk to the nomination. He is leading in both the national polls and many state polls. He is the leader on most future markets. He is getting kid glove treatment now that he will never get from the Democrat nominee in a General Election.
