Russia Issues Pre-Emptive Nuclear Threat

By Sky News SkyNews - 27 minutes ago

Russia's military chief of staff says Moscow would use nuclear weapons in pre-emptive strike if it felt threatened.

General Yuri Baluyevsky said there were no plans "to attack anyone" but reasserted Russia's right to defend itself.

"To defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Russia and its allies, military forces will be used, including preventively, including with the use of nuclear weapons," Gen Baluyevsky said.

The remarks do not represent a change in policy for Moscow.

But they do come at a time of heightened tension between Russia and the West.

Russia is embroiled in persistent disputes over US plans for missile defence facilities in former Soviet satellite states that have joined Nato.

A row has also broken out between the UK and Russia after the director of the British Council in St Petersburg was briefly arrested.

Britain closed the council's offices after accusing the Russians of harassment.

Putin is crazy with megalomania — his newly acquired power from rigged elections is gone to his head. To make matters worse, Putin has $$$$$$ Billions and real POWER to burn. Bush never should have trusted this Russkie KGB POS. ‘Nuff said.

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer - Bush was doing the right thing with Putin.

This policy was enunciated a year ago. No change, nothing new.

Shut up. No one is going to nuke you anytime soon, Russia.

But if you want to do a service to the world, start getting tougher on Iran (won’t hold my breath)

So far, the only people attacking Russia are the Muzzies. It’s OK with me if Russia nukes them.

Why does defending one’s lands seem so over the top? Especially given the history of Russia being invaded over and over.

On the contrary Putin has put many gangsters from the 90s away! Or driven them out of the country.

In fact most Russians adore Putin. The only ones how don’t are the ones willing to bring back socialism and join in betraying Christian lands like Kosovo...like most of Europe and this WH.

It’s the same with China. They refuse to be in the same position they were in prior to WW II with their territory being carved up and one country taking one piece and another taking another. Rev 3

Rattle that saber, Putin, and imagine that you matter.

Um, I hate to break it to you, but with Russia's massive nuclear arsenal (being beefed up as we speak), he matters.

We live in perilous times.

The instability of the pre-WWI era, the brutality of the WWII era, and the massive overkill of the Cold War era. What a lovely mix, if you like that sort of thing.

I don't.

They damn sure know that any nuclear detonation is going to result in a response in kind.

You sure about that?

Has Clinton's doctrine -- which changed our posture so that we would absorb a first strike without retaliating -- ever been rescinded?

Please spare me any Cowboy George huff-n-puff-n bravado about how he'd never let that go on, nosireebobonwheels.

Thanks.

Might or might not. Depends on a lot of factors such as whether anybody cares if Grozny is nuked by Moscow.

How about they get tougher on Iran and we stop giving away Europe to the Muzzies as in KOSOVO!!!

The madness is on both sides...but we can do something about ours.

That's not my style as far as being a nuclear-Cowboy is concerned.

Has Clinton's doctrine -- which changed our posture so that we would absorb a first strike without retaliating -- ever been rescinded?

Rescinded???

I'm not doubting your word, but I can not comprehend any nuclear power ever abandoning the strategic cornerstone of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) that has worked so brilliantly as nuclear deterrence and that the global consensus that you could not survive a nuclear first strike seemed incontrovertible.

So your revelation comes as a shock to me and would greatly appreciate any reference om this subject on which I will proceed to google as soon as I am done with my response.

As far as anyone asking me to venture a guess on what I think the Clinton Doctrine might be, with the way I feel about Bill Clinton I would have to say The Clinton Doctrine is a scholarly treatise on

what is, is.

China may want the Siberian territories.

"May"?

China is definitely biding their time, viewing as inevitable a victory via demographics, as the Russian population continues to decline.

They're actively pushing that agenda by doing the same thing that Mexico is doing in the southwest, i.e., slipping more and more "undocumented" Chinese into Siberia, creating a de facto "community" there. A fifth column ready to roll...

One day Pres Clinton announced that no nuclear weapons were targeted on the children, that all were targeted on the oceans. Also, a nuclear strike would not necessarily call for a nuclear response. This is history.

>>>"...so give it up for my main man Vlad!" <<<

On the other hand, if it's McCainiac negotiating with Putin I would expect him to say:

"soooo you think, do you, DO YOU, that your units are bigger than mine. Zat what you think ....welll...we'lllll will just have to see Vlad...HUH, zat whatcha want"?

Fast forward to Nuclear Armagedon!

I believe it occurred historically, precisely as you've thoughtfully conveyed and want to thank you for taking the time and courtesy to confirm this for me. I will do as much perusing, research as is necessary
to satisfy my intellectual curiosity in uncovering the details, minutiae on this issue.

Thank you once again for your courtesy and consideration.
