The Rev. Al Sharpton released a statement Friday chastising one John Huckabee for saying South Carolina should be able to decide whether it wants to fly the Confederate flag.
Of course he meant Mike Huckabee the GOP candidate who on the campaign trail Thursday said outsiders should not tell South Carolina what to do when it comes to that flag.
Either way, as the controversy of race settles on the Democratic side, Sharpton said Republican Huckabee is now offending the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.
In the midst of a national celebration of the life and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. around his birthday, and right before the South Carolina primary John Huckabee has sought to divide this country between Blacks and whites, and north and south by implicitly supporting South Carolinas right to fly the Confederate flag over its state capitol, he said. Mr. Huckabees position is a direct slap at Dr. King and all that he fought for.

Huckabee vs. Sharpton—no matter who wins, we lose.
I agree
Maybe...
Outsider, huh? Sorta like an “interloper” donchano?
All righty, I’ll chime in on this because I think I’ve managed to get in before it becomes a rehash of the War of Northern Aggression.
The Confederate Battle Flag does not belong above the dome of the state capitol. I have no problem with it flying over a Confederate memorial on the capitol grounds, where it is a historical symbol in its historical context. That is precisely the compromise struck a few years ago, and everyone seems fine with it until someone tries to stir the s—t every couple years.
I don’t live or vote in South Carolina, and I believe that is their choice. So my opinion is worth every penny it cost you.
Sharpton is a giant oompa loompa. We need to get one of those cute little outfits for the fella.
Sharpton is only helping Huckleberry.
But I think that’s his intention.
IMHO, As long as the Confederate flag is not flown above Ol' Glory, It isn't none of my business where South Carolinians (or any other) care to fly it.
Dixie has proved more than faithful, with the blood of her sons in the balance. More power to her.
Voted by the legislature or ordered by the governor; it would depend on the specifics of the state constitution. I don't know SC law in that much detail.
Was it made into law? if so, it's not quite that simple to stir it up.
Oh, sure it is. "Made into law" does not end the argument. If you will, allow me to offer some word pairs; Scott/Sanford. Plessy/Ferguson. Brown/Board. Lemon.Kurtzman. Roe/Wade.
Not only is it fairly easy to fight the law, but for Americans, it's habitual. It;s part of our national DNA. Fighting the law is how we came to exist, and fighting unjust laws is how we survive, And thrive.
Oh, what do you mean the president can't do that? Then why does it come up every 4 years?
Please explain to the S. Carolinians that the Dems, no matter who is elected, will remove their flag and dictate to them what is a proper flag to fly.
Why would anybody vote Dem in SC if they want to decide the flag to fly, and if not, why don't they remove it themselves? It just seems odd they have Democrats in the state, yet fight over the flag issue every 4 years. Is Hillary going to send troops down to remove it? That would be some must see TV. Why is it always a Republican problem that we don't care what a state does on it's flagpoles, and if we did, we still don't have the power to do anything about it? I could just see the gubmint telling Texas their flag should be an illegal alien crossing the river on a blue background. It makes no sense to be arguing over these things with Muslims wanting to cut our throats and other more pressing problems.
All us white boys must look alike to the convicted liar.
>>>Huckabee vs. Sharpton
There is unlimited material for a political cartoonist.
If Sharpton and Huckabee’s kids are in there, there won’t be room to fit anyone else in the frame.
I hope their children have ambition to walk away from the refrigerator.
