The Mainstream Media Is No Longer A Relevant Source of Information
American Chronicle ^ | January 18, 2008 | By Dave Gibson

At one time, the American press was well-respected throughout the world. They earned that respect with hard work, honesty, and by reporting on important stories. Unfortunately, the MSM has abandoned all of those principles which has rendered them completely irrelevant.

They now spend their time reporting on the latest drunken antics of celebrity tarts such as Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. The press now seems obsessed with whether or not Lindsay Lohan is still in rehab. Their other obsession is with the unproven and unscientific reports of global warming. Of course, they will still take time out from these issues to fan the flames of racism or to belittle our men and women in uniform.

Gone are the days of unbiased or even true investigative reporting. We will never again see truly in-depth reporting designed to protect the public from our government as well as multi-national corporations. Is not the story of foreign governments buying our public highways at least as important as the Pentagon Papers? Is not the fact that our own President is allowing and even encouraging a flood of illegal aliens and drugs into this country any less newsworthy than the Watergate break-ins?

We now have a left-wing press who will never report on anything that could damage the furtherance of the liberal and globalist agendas of which they approve. Rather than information that will expose a corrupt government and empower an oppressed public, we are given sensationalist gossip by these so-called serious journalists.

Here are five important stories which the mainstream press has failed to report:

The case of high-ranking ACLU official Charles Rust-Tierney, who was caught with child pornography.

The Northern Virginia youth sports coach had served as the head of the Virginia chapter of the ACLU for many years, and was an active member of the board of directors at the time of his arrest. He had been viewing the material on a computer in his 10 year old son's bedroom.

Rust-Tierney owned numerous computer discs filled with images of young girls being victimized. The investigation report described prepubescent girls "seen and heard crying" and many "bound by rope." There were even videos discovered in his home which depicted infants being tortured and raped.

This was an important story fro a few reasons. Rust-Tierney coached rec league sports and regularly had contact with dozens of children. When he was arrested, he was a lawyer for the Washington D.C. Public Defender's Office and worked exclusively with mentally disabled clients. Given his obsession with images such as small children being raped, it would only be logical to examine the opportunity he had to sexually exploit untold numbers of people, both adult and child alike. However, the most interesting and ironic part of this story is the position the ACLU has taken so many times to defend the distribution and possession of child pornography. Executive director of the Massachusetts ACLU John Roberts once argued in court on behalf of two men who had raped and murdered a 10 year old boy. Roberts defended the men's obsession with child pornography by saying: "Mere possession should not be a crime."

The question that should have been asked was...Does the ACLU so vigorously defend this vile material because their own officials enjoy it so much?

The plan to merge the United States, Canada, and Mexico into the North American Union under the illegal treaty known as the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP).

While WorldNetDaily columnist Jerome Corsi and radio host Alex Jones have reported heavily on this subject, it is dismissed by the government and media elites as nothing more than a conspiracy theory. They do this even though there is a SPP office inside the Commerce Department and the information can be found on the federal government's own website. This is truly a case of hiding in plain sight.

The fact that the press was kept at bay during a recent summit held in Montebello, Quebec by the leaders of the three nations, President Bush himself called Corsi a "conspiracy theorist" during his staged press conference should have raised eyebrows in newsrooms across the country. However, the MSM is silent and complicit in the loss of our borders and sovereignty.

This must be what talk show host Michael Savage means when he talks about the government-media complex."

The de-valuation of the dollar.

According to the U.S. Department of Treasury, since Sept. 2006 the national debt has been increasing by $1.47 billion a day. Our national debt is currently over $9 trillion. For the last two years, the Congress voted to raise the national debt ceiling. They did this to allow the federal government to continue making interest payments on our foreign loans...Basically, so that China and Saudi Arabia would not repossess the country!

It is very easy to blame current energy prices on malevolent Arabs or sky-rocketing home prices on greedy developers. However, we must face the fact that because of runaway spending, our dollar will simply not buy as much as it would a few years ago.

In November 2005, the Federal reserve announced it would no longer publish the M3 money aggregate (the worldwide total U.S. dollar supply). Their press release claimed: "the costs of collecting the underlying data and publishing M3 outweigh the benefits." The announcement received absolutely no coverage from the mainstream news media.

The federal government is printing up money at unprecedented rates just to keep up with Bush's spending habits. The unconscionable behavior is now de-valuing our currency and it will eventually spell disaster for all Americans.

The ongoing acts of Muslim terrorism inside this country.

While the MSM ran non-stop coverage of the 9/11 attacks, ever since they have been nearly completely silent on the numerous incidents of terror carried out by Muslims on U.S. soil. There have too many to list all of them here, but let us take a look at just a few..

Last year a Muslim man named Naveel Afzad Haq forced his way into the Seattle Jewish Federation building and shot six people, killing one of them. All of his victims were women, one of them being pregnant. As Haq walked the halls firing at defenseless women, he shouted: "I'm Muslim-American" and "I'm angry at Israel." Also noteworthy...his father is a founder of a Seattle mosque.

Earlier that same year, a young Muslim man named Mohammed Reva Taheri-azar rented an SUV and drove it into a crowd of students at the University of North Carolina. The native of Iran told police that he had decided to carry out the attack due to "the treatment of Muslims around the world." That attack left nine people injured.

Then there was the case of the six jihadists who were caught in a plot to execute soldiers at Fort Dix. The day after federal officials announced the arrest of Muslim terrorists attempting to bring about a murderous attack on a U.S. Army base, the only real coverage of the case could be found on Fox News, The Michael Savage Show, and a few websites. The next day CNN.com featured a story about the so-called 'pillow angel.' By day two, the story could not be found at all on their website, and CNN provided almost no television coverage of the plot. The three major networks had completely dropped the story by the second day as well.

One of the reasons the MSM refused to cover the Fort Dix story was undoubtedly because three of the terrorists were illegal aliens and had crossed into this country over the Mexican border.

Unlike the American press of World War II, today's reporters seem to be in league with the enemy and cheer on our defeat.

The importation of vast amounts of Chinese slave-made goods.

While the press continues to pass on the daily recalls of lead and antifreeze laden products made in China, they never mention the fact that most of the hazardous materials coming from that country are being made by slaves.

In China's Liaoning Province, forced labor factories clutter the landscape. the laborers are being held in Chinese prisons, many of them are actually political prisoners. several factories are run by the Chinese military, which profits directly from the sale of cheap Chinese goods sold in this country.

China is consistently the world's worst offender where both human rights and the environment are concerned. However, they seem to be immune from critical examination by the MSM.

The complete refusal by the mainstream press to report on important stories is the reason why Americans have turned away from newspapers and network news. They have instead turned to talk radio and even more so to the internet for coverage of the aforementioned stories as well as many others which the MSM pretends do not exist.

The Mainstream Media Is No Longer A Relevant Source of Information

That is a conclusion I came to more than 10 years ago and nothing has changed which would cause me to reevaluate.

GENERAL TECUMSEH SHERMAN ON NY TIMES/REPORTERS:

‘’I will illustrate why I regard newspaper correspondents as spies,’’ Sherman wrote on Feb. 17, 1863. ‘’A spy is one who furnishes an enemy with knowledge useful to him and dangerous to us. I say in giving intelligence to the enemy, in sowing discord & discontent in an army, these men fulfill all the conditions of spies. I am satisfied they have cost the country hundreds of millions of dollars & brought our country to the brink of ruin & that unless the nuisance is abated we are lost.’’

‘’While they cry about blood & slaughter they are the direct cause of more bloodshed than fifty times their number of armed Rebels,’’ he wrote.

You know that, I know that and most people on FR know that, but unfortunately the sheeple (majority) of this country don't have a clue. Whats really scary is that they really don't want a clue because that would require thinking and thinking is really hard and it's much easier to have some pompous leftist moron on the tube do it for them. Worst of all, thinking for yourself could cause, horrors of horrors, un-pc thought.

Unfortunately, the title is garbled a wee bit.

They are indeed, no longer a source of relevant information, but in that so many continue to be dependant upon the MSM for what little they 'know' about our nation and the world, the MSM remains a relevant source of information, by virtue of the very masses they infuse with their lies and drivel.

“At one time, the American press was well-respected throughout the world.”

Perhaps in the 1930’s and 1940’s, but during my lifetime, they have always lied, yet no where near as bad as they do now.

Speaking of blind squirrels and irrelevant sources, my wirehaired doxie writes better than Jack Russell. What an awkward, cliche-ridden waste of pixels.

They now spend their time reporting on the latest drunken antics of celebrity tarts such as Britney Spears and Paris Hilton...and now we have the revelations in the Hillary White House papers from Senator Rockefeller that members of the press were waiting to get marching orders to help destroy those who opposed Hill's medical takeover plan - how far they've fallen.......

When the American newsmedia made the decision to become a propaganda machine instead of a provider of truth and information it damned itself to irrelevance and ignominy. It has earned the scorn and disgust of decent, honest people now and for all time.

The author must be a mind reader. I was writing about the same subject 4:00 AM this morning. Now I’ll give him credit for this article in my column when I finish writing it.

Nice to know that at least two of us think alike. My doppelganger, perhaps?
