Muslim women cry foul

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ontario -- Three Muslim women in Canada have filed a human rights complaint against Syed Soharwardy, the Alberta-based imam who brought publisher Ezra Levant before the Alberta Human Rights Commission after Mr. Levant's magazine republished the Danish Muhammad cartoons.

Qasira Shaheen, Robina Butt and Shugufta Iftikhar filed their complaint, dated Dec. 28, with the Canadian Human Rights Commission, saying they "were treated differently from men in the following manner: Abusive language uttered towards us; Not permitted to ask any questions; Denied participation as equal members of the Muslim community; Physically and verbally threatened; Made to sit in the back of the hall; Accused of disrupting and sabotaging the proceedings; Forced to vacate the premises; Followed-up by obscene and threatening phone calls and letters in the mail."

“Denied participation as equal members of the Muslim community”

You’re not equal you are musllim women. You are property.

Robina Butt, told The Times that the women were motivated by respect for human rights

Sorry, that just does not pass the smell test.

They have nerve to try this! Even though the HRCs are vile it
serves the Imam right to get his own medicine back.

Levant needs to register a complaint with this crappy commission that it is denying his rights.

It seems the answer to this is, first, to realize that (1) women do not have equal status with men in the Muslim religion; (2) Muslims have no religious hierarchy to control the imams and therefore no recourse inside the Muslim faith; and (3) the Canadian Human Rights Commission should not be involved in internal religious disputes and, second, to start your own mosque to teach the religion you want.

All religious communities need to realize the same thing. If they disagree with their pastor and there is no established hierarchy to which to appeal, it is time to branch out, not involve the government.

>>it serves the Imam right to get his own medicine back.<<

They can file all the complaints they want. The Commission is not going find in their favor. It wouldn’t be politically correct to find against an Imam.

Muslim women may be considered “property” in the muslim community but kufir (non-muslims) are even lower and at the bottom of their worldview you will find the “former muslims” who are considered even LOWER than the lowly non-muslim “kufir”.

Yep. And if any reform of Islam is going to happen, it will have to be started by women. Between polygamy and their “honor system”, which means that the honor of a man depends on the moral character of his family’s or clan’s womenfolk, women are walled in by Islam.

More power to them. The violent aspects of Islam can be curbed, but it will have to come from inside Islam, and I believe only Muslim women can effect that change.

This is the very situation that has arisen for "moderate muslims" to declare that jihadist muslims "aren't real muslims" and therefor it is hate speech to refer to ANY jihadist terrorism as "Islamic" in nature. Not making the claim that all muslims are terrorists, but too many muslims deny that any muslim has engaged in religious inspired violence. This from a society that has its own word for holy war.

I agree. So long as the Muslim faith has no central authority to define their faith tenets and whether those claiming to be Muslims are, in fact, Muslim faithful or whether they should be ex-communicated, then the entire faith is tarred by the terrorists. I would like to see some reforms that permit Muslims to make authoritative declarations on behalf of the faith in the same manner as Christian faiths do—or at least some Christian faiths do.

Sorry Mr. Butt, but your parents gave you a bad name. Anadiplosis strikes!

As I have written elsewhere: Source- http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1929538/posts?page=261#261

To quote myself from the earlier dust-up over "human rights commissions?"

Let me ping myself, and add this:

If you want to see what Islam is really like, see this:

-Islam, a Religion of Peace®? The Most Damning links...--

Use the links- read the comments- watch the videos.

I am the author of "Islam, a Religion of Peace®?" and I stand by everything I have ever posted about it-- it is a Death Cult, masquerading as a religion.

Islam hates women, the truth, and freedom. And free-thinking.

"Useful Dupes" on the Left have deluded themselves in to thinking that they can use Islam for their own purposes to demean, or destroy Western culture, and then discard it.

But they will be among the first to fall beneath the bloody scimitar, if their goals are realized.

Free Dominion's stake, and fight, in this matter affect us all.

A free, and self-governing country-- and I do not care whether you are talking about Canada, or us-- cannot coexist under the jackboot of Star Chambers and censorship.

They are utterly incompatible.

Stand up, and be counted now--

--or be silenced, forever and ever...

Nothing will happen. The men will say it is cultural bias to empower women and they are being oppressed. The case will go away. Canada always seems to side on ‘diversity’, regardless how insane it seems. I like Canadians. I like Canada. It is just way to liberal, and they paint themselves into corners all the time
