Mittens for Romney
Rush Limbaugh ^ | 01/15/2008 | Rush Limbaugh

CALLER: He exudes the most powerful morality I have seen in any candidate.

RUSH: So you have no doubts he would never cheat on his wife?

CALLER: That is correct.

RUSH: This is fascinating. Ruth, I can't thank you enough.

CALLER: I thank you, Rush, and just keep up the wonderful work. My husband and I listen to you every day, and we love you, and just keep that faith, because there are Republican conservatives out there who will prove who the true candidate will be, and I believe it will be Romney.

RUSH: We'll see. I'm glad you called, Ruth.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We have decided to come up with a name for you babes who are smitten with Mitt Romney, first of many, but this works: Mittens. We're going to refer to you as Mittens.

You know, playing with words and creating your own standards of morality doesn’t make your views valid and all others invalid.

Is it morality to say that the boy scouts should allow gay leaders?

Why is a person’s sexuality relevant for his capacity of taking care of children? One of my closest friends is gay and he would rather die than sexually abuse a child. Frankly, I think it is immoral that you feel you have a right to dictate what others do in their private lives that does not affect you in any way. I happen to feel homosexuality is a sin but I do not have the right to impose my views on others who feel differently. Child abusers are the problem - not gays per se.

Is it morality to compromise your principals and stand by seeking only the ‘status quo’ on abortion?

So, it is preferable to break your word to those who believe differently than you do? And you think this is moral?

Is it morality to appoint ‘moderate’ judges because they are easier to get approved?

Isn’t it better to have judges who can process cases and place evil persons in jail than to have these criminals released back into the population due to a violation of their constitutional right to a speedy trial? Courts are overworked as it is and without judges that can be approved by the Democratic legislature; criminals will be set free regardless of their guilt. Demanding Governor Romney only appoint conservative judges would’ve resulted in thousands of criminals going free since the Democratic legislature would’ve never approved the appointments.

Is it morality to look at the cmaera and America and lie about what your own ads say?

I take it you’re talking about McCain’s “amnesty” bill. I suggest you look closer.

Is it morality rail against ‘sanctuary cities’ while sitting idly by for you entire term doing nothing about the 4 cities within your own state claiming sanctuary status?

Is it better for a governor to exceed his authority and override the actions of publicly-elected officials of cities? And how do you expect him to do that, especially given the liberal nature of Massachusetts and its legislature? Wave a magic wand? There’s a big difference between what a state governor can do concerning the actions of a city and what a city mayor can do over his own city.

Is it morality to force American citizens into a madatory health care plan supported by government dollars, overseen by government beaurocrats, and imposing fines one those who think your system reeks of socialism?

Why is it wrong to have people covered by health insurance? Is it better to have people lose their homes just to pay for medical emergencies, as two million Americans have done so recently? Why is mandatory car insurance for all drivers ok but mandatory health insurance for all citizens bad? People who don’t drive don’t need car insurance but since everyone has physical bodies that can get injured or sick; it’s obvious everyone needs health insurance.

Please ... tell me about his morality as it relates to public policy.

You’re welcome. Now, get off your high horse and learn what is and what isn’t moral before you start condemning others.

Rush kept implying it is his looks that women find attractive. The last woman caller set him straight. It's THIS image that will win women over:

No Conservatives have always known personal character is important. It was when Billy got caught cheating that LIBS suddenly said it didn't matter.

” It’s THIS image that will win women over:”

Key word being “IMAGE”. I’ve noticed that when the fliparoos are talking about their man, Flip, they often talk about his lovely *image*, but very little is said about his substance. In today’s society, sadly, it’s all about image, good feelings, good looks, etc. Behind the mask of this “pretty image” is a liberal who masquerades as a conservative. Are you image conscience people so easily deceived? Apparently so.

Are you Mitt haters so arrogant? Apparently you are.

You have no idea what motivates me, what I know about Romney's issues, etc. You simply presume that you are intellectually and morally superior to me.

Well, I for one am sick to death of being told I'm deficient in some way if I like Mitt. Or Rudy. You are welcome to your politics and your opinions. But don't assign motives to me that you have no possible way of discerning.

“Are you Mitt haters so arrogant?”

No, we don’t hate Flip, and we are not arrogant. We simply do not care to support liberal candidates who pretend to be conservatives. Using words such as, hate, religious bigots, etc is a typical liberal tactic used by liberals to intimidate their enemies. Says a lot about you and your fliparoo cohorts.

“You simply presume that you are intellectually and morally superior to me.”

Well, I never thought about being intellectually and morally superior to you. But, now that you bring it up....

“But don’t assign motives to me that you have no possible way of discerning.”

I haven’t assigned “motives” to you. Quite frankly, I am puzzled why a conservative would want to support a liberal. According to many of the fliparoos here its’s all about his good looks, his pretty family, they say things like, “he’s so telegenic”, “he’s so smart”, “I love the *image* he projects”, etc. Maybe you have a different motive for supporting Flip than the rest of them, but whatever your motivation is, you can’t say it’s because Flip has a consistent and solid record governing MA as a conservative. He not only governed as a liberal, he ran as one too. That’s been proven again and again here. So it it isn’t his, pretty boy image that sways you, it must be his liberal policies. Which is it?

I agree.........Republican women do not want to “sleep” with him like the Dem women did with Bill.........we want a “gentleman” in the White House - like GW is. One who loves and cherishes his wife and family.

Mitt Romney is not a liberal. Of course, that depends on your definition of the word.

Here on FR, the last time someone called me a liberal was when I criticized the pro-life protesters shutting down Rudy’s campaign events. I’m apparently not “activitst” enough for them.

Mitt Romney’s policies are as available for you to see as they are for me. I don’t feel inclined to list them for you one by one. Just know that I support him and think he would make a wonderful president.

“Mitt Romney is not a liberal. Of course, that depends on your definition of the word.”

And Bill Clinton said, “it depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is”. You speak the clintonesque language very well. Interesting.

“Here on FR, the last time someone called me a liberal was when I criticized the pro-life protesters shutting down Rudy’s campaign events. I’m apparently not “activitst” enough for them.”

You are actually boasting on this forum that you criticized the pro-life protesters for expressing their first amendment rights? I can’t believe you’ve been here since 1998 and would make a comment like that. You know full well that this forum is very pro-life and for you to admit that you were critical of people who protested at Rudy’s campaign says all we need to know about your politics. You’ve outed yourself big time with that comment.

Curious, at what point did you become a liberal, or have you always been one from the beginning of your signup on FR?

Why do you care so much about what you imagine my politics to be?!

If you pervert the word liberal enough, I imagine about 90% of Freepers could suddenly fit in that category.

[Note that I threw in that verb “pervert” so you can play juvenile little word games by turning it into a noun like you did with “definition”!)

By your reasoning, the church at Ephesus should never have allowed the Apostle Paul to preach because he persecuted Christians twelve years prior.

You opinions, of course, are valid. Most opinions are.

However - my opinion remains firm - it is neither moral nor conservative.

Don’t redefine conservatism to fit your candidate. If you want a moderate - admit it and move on.

Don’t redefine morality as a public official to reside solely within his personal and family morality. Jimmy Carter was a fine family man - but his version of public service set this country back years.
