WASHINGTON A high school track star has been disqualified from a meet because officials said the custom-made outfit she wears to conform to her Muslim faith violated competition rules.
Juashaunna Kelly, a senior at the District of Columbia's Theodore Roosevelt High School, has the fastest mile and two-mile times of any girls' runner in the city this winter. She was disqualified from Saturday's Montgomery Invitational indoor track and field meet.
Kelly was wearing the same uniform she has worn for the past three seasons while running for Theodore Roosevelt's cross-country and track teams. The custom-made, one-piece blue and orange unitard covers her head, arms, torso and legs. Over the unitard, she wears the same orange and blue T-shirt and shorts as her teammates.
The outfit allows her to compete while adhering to her Muslim faith, which forbids displaying any skin other than her face and hands.

“Not all Muslims are terrorist but most terrorist are Muslim.”
This is true. However, I refuse to judge all Muslims by the actions of some. I don’t want to be judged based upon someone else’s actions, and I don’t do it to others. I judge others based upon their own actions and character.

The head covering kinda defeats the purpose, doesn’t it, when you’re wearing a skin-tight uniform?
A “unitard” doesn’t leave much to the imagination .....
They have uniform rules for a reason. Can’t have everyone out there wearing whatever they want.
I am curious as to why this uniform wasn’t noticed during the past three years.
You posted, in part: Not having the loose clothing does give her an aerodynamic advantage ...

I don’t think the rules prohibit a team from adopting the unitard as their uniform. Frankly, I am surprised that more teams don’t use it, like speed skaters do. The offials didn’t seem to be very consistent in their application of the rules or means of resolving the matter. I gather from the posts above and the other thread on this that the problem was with the two-tone coloring of the uniform. If that is the rule, then that is the rule. However, the officials apparently suggested some sort of t-shirt with the team jersey over that. I don’t see how that would solve the problem of the two-tone unitard, which had two different colored long sleeves. Something just doesn’t sound right about this.
I have read the Koran and also discussed it at length with my friends. They have explained to me that there are a variety of interpretations, and that the parts that are used to incite violence at some mosques can be and often are interpreted very differently elsewhere. They are disgusted with the terrorists and their followers.
They explain to me their beliefs and I accept them. In the 15 years that I have known them, they have saved lives at great risk to their own, they have helped thousands of people. Yes, I sleep well.
You consider my trust in them to be misguided. However, you live in fear of these people, based upon a limited and biased understanding of who they are. There is a big difference between respecting that some Muslims are truly evil, and have twisted the religion to support acts of cruelty and terrorism, and being afraid of a female high school track star.
lolz
Why doesn’t she wear a solid colored unitard to match the color of her skin?
I’m sure she would, if anyone had told her before the day of the meet that she needed to. She’s been competing in this unitard for three years, and it’s custom made. It’s not like she could just snap her fingers and make one instantly appear out of thin air.
I didn’t think a sarcasm tag was necessary.
I got to agree with you, if anything her uniform was a hinderance to her performance.
I dont see the big deal when I used to run track you were allowed to wear black spandex in the colder months. Its not like she is running in a Burka its a track suit which is in her team colors..

Bawahaha!
That one made my day... ;)
Nice try, but my experience isn't very "limited" and I've seen the work of islamist in several countries as well as the propaganda used by these groups. The current world wide war is being waged by disparate groups under the jihadist banner.
They are to strike anywhere, obtain access and gather intel. It isn't a myth, but a guerilla war based on an ideology. That's why it's going to be harder to fight but easier to win.
I guess you've got access to the very, very silent moderate majority of muslims. I stand corrected. When the time comes for all good muslims to make a choice between US laws and islamic law... well I'm sure your fellow workers will chose US law.
Oh, can you call them up right now and ask them how they see you? I mean, in their religion, how do they see you.
I assume you're not a muzzie, correct me if I'm wrong. Then I'll let you know what you are. an infidel
Question number 2 for your tolerant muzzie friends..... how is a "good" muzzie to treat an "infidel"?
In case you don't know, I'll help you out.
There are only three choices for Infidels.. become a Muslim embracing Islam and Islamic law, become slaves to Muslims paying tribute or lastly, die... Those are the only choices... The Koran allows for lying and deceit in fighting against Infidels... The Koran and Islamic writings call for followers to use all methods including violence to subdue the world to Islam...
As far as me thinking you are "misguided". Nah, not really, you're way to kind to yourself.
If you're a regular Freeper then you're familiar with search engines and document searches. Look around the internet and see what you can find of muzzies rising up and opposing "extremists". Not verbally but with weapons. Not very many, huh?
Why do you think? If a Christian sect started bombings, beheadings, poisoning, burning and declaring a "Holy War" against something, you'd have Christians soldiers and citizens but an end to them.
Now where are the muzzies in this country rising up in loud protests and marching against the "bastardization" of Islam? I must have missed those in my neck of the woods. Cause all I heard was muzzies making excuses and blaming Jews and America for the hate.... blaming Jews and America for 9-11... blaming Jews and Americans for the Bali bombing.... blaming Jews and America for insert the muslim murderous act
So if your wife and kids are in a plane or in a building that goes up due to muzzie extremists..... I'm sure your muzzie buddies will say that the Jews or Americans are the real cause and that they personally just feel terrible.
I'm glad you sleep well. Not to worry.
You sleep safe in your beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do you harm. ~ George Orwell
Thank your nieghborhood liberal for 40 years of pc teachings.
It wouldn’t matter if the moderates stood up and loudly condemned anything. People like you would just point out that they are allowed to lie, if it furthers their jihad. They can’t win, and you will always hate them, as long as they are Muslims.
I understand more about terrorism than you seem to think. I am a firefighter/paramedic and worked WTC recovery. I have seen the destruction pain and suffering that terrorists cause. I lost friends there. I would like to see supporters of terrorism suffer, just as their victims did.
I also understand that to defeat this enemy, which is the terrorists, we must know who they are. Confusing the issue by including 1 billion people worldwide does nothing but hinder the effort. Especially, when we include 17 year old high school cross country runners. Sure, we can keep this girl from running in a track meet and maybe even hurt her chances for a scholarship. It doesn’t make me feel a damn bit safer.
I give you credit for being civil, and having a reasonable discussion (except for the little missy thing) I disagree with everything you say, but I do respect you for saying it in a reasonable manner. I am in quarters this evening and have work to do. (BTW, I am not Muslim, I am Catholic)
The problem is with the koran and the pedophile prophet of islam. Mohammed was a ruthless madman who invented the religion for his own benefit. Any religion that is founded on the epileptic rantings of a man who wed a 6year old girl is worthy of skepticism and disdain, especially when the “holy” book advocates open hostility towards non-muslims. Add the fact that islam teaches its followers that it is OK to lie about ones intentions to further the cause leaves many of us to be skeptical of “peaceful” muslims who are still adherents to a backwards, violent religion.
Many of us will not offer up our values, ideals, and loved ones to the alter of political correctness that compels us to believe all religions are created equal...
That is nihilistic stupidity.
