SACRAMENTO -- Softening his past opposition to changes to California's term-limits law, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is endorsing a Feb. 5 ballot measure that would allow many sitting lawmakers to run for office again this year rather than be forced to leave the Legislature. Schwarzenegger, who as a candidate in 2003 supported California's existing term-limits law as a shield against "special interests" obtaining too much power, reversed himself in an essay released Monday that said the original law "went too far." "Under the current system, our elected officials are not given the time they need to reach their full potential as public servants," Schwarzenegger wrote in an opinion article published on The Times website Monday and in the newspaper today.

California Voters Guide for the February 5, 2008 election
**********************EXCERPT************************
Proposition 93 is filthy voter manipulation. Its even misnamed. This Prop is the height of politicians trying to play on voter ignorance, and must be stopped. In the yes arguments, they quietly admit, Some current Members [of the Assembly or Senate] could serve more than the 14 total years now allowed. Thats right, 42 of them actually with a special loophole written in just for them!
Corrupt politicians in Sacramento want to retain their power. Theyre about to be booted out of office because of term limits, which is exactly why we passed term limits to start with. Its what voters want. By shortening the overall period of service from 14 years to 12 years, they pretend this is a tougher term limit law. It isnt. Right now, you can spend 6 years in our State Assembly and 8 years in the Senate. This law would let you spend 12 years in either legislative body. What this does is give Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata extended time in office, as they are about to have to leave office due to current term limits. These are people who want to raise your taxes to fix their own reckless spending. They do not care about your best interests, but only their own political power.
This country was never supposed to have professional politicians. Prop 93 only hands more power to the worst legislators California has in office. Vote no on Prop 93. Visit http://stopprop93.com/ for more details.
Vote no on Props 91, 92 and especially 93 in February. Send corrupt politicians packing.
There are also Propositions 94, 95, 96 and 97 on my ballot, and these are referenda on Indian Gaming Compacts. I do not have the information as to what the proposed amendments to the compacts are, so am rendering no opinion at this time.
listen to audio at link at #18,,,,,after the interview with Pozner...they get into the Bavarian music and reading Arnoold’s editorial with an Austrian accent...it’s a hoot.....
See the updates; audio links to the KFI Ken and John interviews with Pozner ...and enjoy the Music with the Reading of Arnoold’s Editorial...done with an Austrian accent...
What ever Schwarzenegger endorses, I’m voting down. RINO!
“its a hoot”
Thanks, Ernest but I am fresh out of laughs for this Phony...
We all busted our butts off in 2003 to recall Gray Davis and this “johnny-come-lately” jumps on the bandwagon at the last moment, claims to be a “conservative” and “open up the hood” before he says what he will do to fix the problems in Sacramento and proceeds to totally screw up the entire situation more so than it was when he arrived!!!
I am beyond laughing...three more years of this idiot and the GOP won’t be able to get a dogcatcher elected much less another governor anytime in the near future....
All I can say is that’s a damn shame...
What with toll roads and the thermostat police on the prowl, I’m not convinced we have two and a half years.
The socialist wish list is going to get exponentially longer as this budget crisis melts down.
We better defend ourselves or we’re going to be hit with a tidal wave black water.
It's actually pretty simple: People are limited to 12 years in legislative office. But the payload is that it resets the clock on those already facing term limits by wiping out the previous law, and starts counting the years from when it's passed. So if you have to leave the Assembly this year, that changes to 12 years from now.
Which is why I'm voting no on Prop 93. If it's such a great idea, it'll be back next year... Which it won't be, because all the liberals who are about to be kicked out will write a new term limit legislation that allows them back in.
Term Limits by Vince Flynn
Taking America back...one politician at a time. TERM LIMITS In one bloody night, three of Washington’s most powerful politicians are executed with surgical precision. Their assassins then deliver a shocking ultimatum to the American government: set aside partisan politics and restore power to the people. No one, they warn, is out of their reach — not even the president. A joint FBI-CIA task force reveals the killers are elite military commandos, but no one knows exactly who they are or when they will strike next. Only Michael O’Rourke, a former U.S. Marine and freshman congressman, holds a clue to the violence: a haunting incident in his own past with explosive implications for his country’s future....”Ingenious....Outpaces anything recently published, including Baldacci and Clancy.” — Florida Times-UnionIncludes an excerpt from Memorial Day, Vince Flynn’s electrifyingnew hardcover
Hi, I am to stupid to know what I am doing. Please vote for me so I can be trained.
That is what I hear.
Besides no on 93, 94, 95, 96, 97 what is the correct vote for what else is on the ballot.
We just received our absentee ballots and the bs re what is on the ballots is amazing.
The Indian gaming props are another amazing collection of bs.
Is there a web site where we can get the real scoop on these props?
Thanks.
Now on the Indian gaming props....I don't have much to help...although the ads in support say the money for recommending a no vote is coming from Vegas and race tracks ...
“Now on the Indian gaming props....I don’t have much to help...although the ads in support say the money for recommending a no vote is coming from Vegas and race tracks ...”
The fact that the funds for the no vote is from Vegas should be enough for us to vote yes.
Thanks for your comments and link.
