SACRAMENTO -- Softening his past opposition to changes to California's term-limits law, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is endorsing a Feb. 5 ballot measure that would allow many sitting lawmakers to run for office again this year rather than be forced to leave the Legislature. Schwarzenegger, who as a candidate in 2003 supported California's existing term-limits law as a shield against "special interests" obtaining too much power, reversed himself in an essay released Monday that said the original law "went too far." "Under the current system, our elected officials are not given the time they need to reach their full potential as public servants," Schwarzenegger wrote in an opinion article published on The Times website Monday and in the newspaper today.

Two of my favorite words in politics are term limits.
Arnold is a RINO - no surprise as he’s married into the Kennedy family.
Obviously bought off by the socialist legislators in Sacramento.
Arnold is on a roll. I can’t think of anything he has supported over the last couple of years that is even remotely conservative in nature.
It’s amazing to me that some activist republican hasn’t started a recall of this nimrod.
this is NOT term limit reform! This is a relaxing of term limit rules that would otherwise cause a rolling out of almost FIFTY career politicians from the California pig trough. Not surprisingly it is precisely those elected officials that authored this bill. Just another scam by the California morditos...
I vote absentee, and I already voted no on Prop 93. That being said, it takes a lot of gall to look the voters in the eye and say that those arrogant, insolent, overpaid, overfed, egotistical, greedy, pompous jackasses in Sacramento don’t have enough time to solve problems.
The party leadership is mute.. ‘cept for a few... Oh wait , he is the party, huh?
The sands are running thru the Recall egg timer even now.. trade garamendi for a trojan horse and shoot for 2010? talk about a stacked deck.. at least the Senate Republicans could bunker in and fight off tax hikes..
The writing of this prop is so confusing (feigns shock). So, basically it looks like they reduce it from 14 to 12 years, but allows them to stay longer than 14? Help?
The language was ...colorful...and Nunez(sp?) got especially ROYAL treatment...

"Proposition 93 is not reform when it has a special loophole that benefits 42 incumbent politicians who are termed out by giving them more time in office. Some politicians will even be able to serve up to 20 years in office --- just like before we passed term limits,
Proposition 93 is not reform when it lengthens terms for politicians. It doubles Assembly terms from 6 years to 12 years and makes Senate terms 50% longer --- increasing them from 8 years to 12 years.
Proposition 93 is not reform when it dramatically increases terms for more than 80% of state legislators.
Proposition 93 is not reform when powerful special interests with business before the Legislature are spending millions of dollars to pass it."
