“What a surge! Soon he’ll be almost caught up to Ron Paul!”

What an ignorant comment. If you knew anything about his campaign you would realize he skipped New Hampshire and Michigan so no one expected him to get many votes in those states. He did a little campaigning in Iowa but still did better than expected coming in third.

South Carolina is the first state he is actually trying to win and I think he will. People who take polling numbers from New Hampshire and Michigan are not at all informed about the Fred Thompson campaign.

He is surging lately because people started noticing he’s the most conservative candidate with a chance to win.

I hope Rush talks on his about Mike Huckabee’s campaign dirty tricks again, some people in SC are reporting that they get these phone calls, and they are asked whom they are voting for, and if they push a button for Fred, then there is this message ( in which distorts things ) ... that Fred lobbyed for a Pro-Choice Org ( this has been talked about on FR over and over,,, and has been debunked ) ..... and other mistatments..... RUSH has got to expose Huck’s dirty tricks..

Yesterday, Romney was dead in the water. He’ll get some notice, but will a NE Republican play well in South Carolina?

Romney had the most delegates yesterday, and he's got the most delegates today. And oodles of money. He was never dead in the water. Fred, on the other hand? He's polling BEHIND Mitt, and McCain, and Huckabee in SC. And he's got 6 delegates to Mitt's 42. So who's dead in the water?

If New Hampshire was McCain’s ‘must win’ state, and Michigan was Romney’s, where is Thompson’s ‘must win’ state?

You should save your breath, or your fingers, the trouble. I’ve begun to consider Thompson supporters as much a cult as Paul’s.

Another Fred Fun Fact:

On September 12, 1996, the Senate passed the Lautenberg gun ban as an amendment to the Treasury-Postal appropriations bill (H.R. 3756). The Lautenberg Domestic Confiscation Gun Ban disarms gun owners for small (misdemeanor) offenses in the home — “offenses” as slight as spanking a child or grabbing a spouse. This lifetime ban, in certain cases, can even be imposed without a trial by jury. It is also retroactive, so it does not matter if the offense occurred 20 years ago. Thompson voted in favor of the amendment.

Thompson supporters are a “cult”? You understand that the founder of FR is a Thompson supporter, right?

Another Fred Fun fact:

On July 28, 1999, the Senate ended a filibuster led by Senator Bob Smith (I-NH) — a filibuster intended to keep anti-gun crime legislation from progressing any further. After the 77-22 vote, the Senate moved to send the language of the anti-gun Senate crime bill (S. 254) to a House-Senate conference committee. Thompson voted to break the pro-gun filibuster.

I think he has to do well in South Carolina. I don’t think he’s necessarily out if he doesn’t win but he at least needs to do better than fourth place in my opinion. I think he has a good shot at winning it because he has had surge in the last week or so.

People need to stop running down Fred Thompson even if they arn’t supporting him. He is still a solid conservative which most people here should like. Romney is my second choice and while I don’t believe he is as conservative as Thompson, he is the only other guy who has a chance to get the nomination who I would vote for in the general election. I would like to see a Thompson\Romney ticket.

And anyone who is supporting Huckabee isn’t a real conservative so I don’t really care what they have to say. Huckabee is a liberal who wants a Socialist Theocracy.

3 more sure signs that Thompson will win

1) I made a donation to him. So now he’s up $100. That’s more than I gave to anyone else, so he’s obviously loaded.
2) I put his name in my sig (mega free publicity)
3) I put money on him on Intrade. Ok, that was really only because it was down to like 3.50, but I figured if we go to a brokered convention he’s the one candidate that the least people hate.

Having witnessed the character of the trolls for these other candidates, I’m even more sure that I support the right man for President.

And cult has nothing to do with it. Wanting a conservative President has EVERYTHING to do with it. Our party may not survive the election season if anyone other than Fred gets the nomination. Fred has no “show stopper” issues in his past that would stop any significant percentage of Republicans from voting for him in the general elecion. And on top of that he’s extremely conservative and an unabashed federalist. That’s more than good enough for me. That’s worth fighting for in my book. The vitriol of the opposition helps confirm this. If Fred were really no threat at all, we would not be seeing a hundred troll posts on every positive Fred thread. I’m really encouraged.

Fred Thompson for President!

Fred’s looking a lot healthier these days. He’s more energetic and aggressive and dominates conversations on news shows to get his message out to the public.
