If Fred gets the nomination and chooses McCain as his running mate, then what? Friends, or not, I’d lose a heap of respect for Fred Thompson.

I don’t think Fred would pick McCain.

somehow I don’t see any of these candidates being anyones VP choice.

Too much swashbuckling to be viable team.

Thompson will NEVER choose McQueeg as his running mate. Neither will any of the other candidates. This canard is repeated on this forum ad nauseaum by persons not very familiar with major-league, hard-nosed politics.

Thompson knows he can't foist the liberal, amnesty-loving McQueeg on his conservative constituency even if he wanted to. A potential veep must bring certain things into a ticket, age will be a factor to set up for a future presidential run, a state with a large electoral vote is also a consideration, geography plays a part, the ability to have good connections to bring donations into the ticket, on and on.

In addition, the potential candidate cannot be a hundred floors short of a skyscraper, so that cinches it that McLame will not be ANYONE'S vice-presidential candidate.
