Michigan Conservative Leader Endorses Mitt Romney
Romney for President Campaign ^ | Monday, January 14, 2008 | Romney Press Shop

Today, Marlene Elwell, noted pro-life leader and Founder and President of Catholics in the Public Square, endorsed Governor Mitt Romney for President. Marlene was also at the helm of the successful "Marriage Protection Amendment" campaign in Michigan in 2004 that preserves marriage in the Michigan Constitution as between one man and one woman.

Elwell is as pro-life as they come. A rock solid conservative. She was responsible for leading the successful effort to secure a marriage amendment in Michigan. Her grass roots network is legendary. She had been on McCain's campaign but left it after a few months, saying she thought he had "contempt for the faith-based community."

Michigan will be interesting. Over burden of taxes, declining industry base. If there is a 'favorite son' you would think it would be Mitt as his Dad's a former Governor. It will be interesting as to the candidates (Rep & Dem) they vote into 'first place'. It will also be interesting to see the gross number of voters who do go to the polls.

Additionally it will be interesting on how Michigan (and other States') Dems fare in regards to having their primary too soon with the Nat'l Dem Party.

I’m a Fred man, but I’d LOVE to see Mitt beat McCain like a drum!

Although this is an area of great interest to me, including the idea first publicized by Fr. Neuhaus of religion in the Public Square, this is the first I’ve heard of her.

I do wonder why on earth she agreed to work for McCain earlier, however, especially after McCain’s vicious effort to get Catholics feuding with Evangelicals in the 2000 primary.

According to the article linked below, she and a friend were fired from McCain’s campaign last summer:

Maybe she’s OK, but I don’t know anything about her and I can’t imagine why a traditional Catholic would have agreed to work for someone like McCain.

The quality of Mitt Romney is starting to shine. Between him and Fred Thompson, the Republican Pary will be well served. My dream ticket whould be Romney-Thompson. I don’t care about which order.

I hope Romney can beat McNasty tomorrow. I just cannot believe that the Republican standard bearer could be someone:

who supports amnesty
who was, and is, against drilling in ANWR
who voted AGAINST tax cuts.
who was one of The Gang of 14
who believes in global warming and is in favor of a carbon tax.

McCain should be running as a Democrat, not a Republican

That is right. I don’t care what order either. The most important thing is to get McCain and Huck out of the way. We can fight amongst ourselves later. :-)

Mitt has a tremendous lead in the Motor City, with Huckabee and McCain apprarently drawing votes from him in the western part of the state.

The republicans, conservatives better wake up and smell the coffee, get behind one man, Mitt Romney with all his faults is a fast study! Fred is getting on in age, that is bad but, the younger voters are excited about Obama and NOT WELL INFORMED! The media will never tell the younger voters the real story with Jihad Hussein Obama. We need a conservative that has young voter appeal and I blieve Mitt is the man! He is a great debater. Obama or Hillary will never perform in a debate like Mitt. We all have our faults Or at least I do. We can make a President out of Mitt if he is not a President already.
