Ex-Butler: Diana's Mom Called Her 'Whore' for Dating Muslim Men
LONDON — Princess Diana's former butler testified Monday that the princess' mother had called her a "whore" and criticized her for her associations with Muslim men.
At a coroner's inquest into Diana's death, Paul Burrell testified that Diana's mother, the late Frances Shand-Kydd, had destroyed much of Diana's private papers. Shand-Kydd had said she destroyed about 100 documents, but Burrell said he carried away half a dozen trash bags filled with shredded paper.
He said he didn't dare challenge the mother. "Mrs. Shand-Kydd was quite formidable ... and she did what she thought best."
Burrell said Diana had invited him to listen to a telephone conversation with her mother, who upbraided her daughter in June 1997 for romances with Muslims. That was before her romance with Fayed.
Burrell said he heard the mother say that Diana was "a whore and that she was (expletive deleted) around with Muslim men."
"She said some very nasty things," Burrell said.
Burrell also said there might be a secret about the late princess in a journal he kept but was unwilling to disclose. He later said there was no journal, he never kept one.
He was also reluctant to say which member of the royal family told Diana she should beware of surveillance, but he did write the name and passed the note to the coroner, Lord Justice Scott Baker. Baker looked at it, and said it had no relevance to the proceeding.
In an increasingly surreal day, Baker said the surveillance warning did not come from Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip or Sarah, Duchess of York. Burrell's note was given to a court official for safekeeping, and not disclosed.

It looks like Diana was hurt when the heart surgeon, Dr. Hasnat Khan . He broke up the relationship. Princess Diana would never have fit into the Muslim world and he knew it ... bet ya, Dodi was a rebound relationship and perhaps the hope was that she'd make the cdoctor jealous and get back together.
I didn't follow her life closely but that is what it sounds like. The accident was just that, an accident.

What is the point of these Mohammed Fayed-driven hearings where all the nastiness in Diana’s life is being dredged up yet again? Is Fayed going to be allowed to dredge all this up whenever he feels like it? What is the point of these hearings, and why do Diana’s friends and employees have to participate? Can’t they all just tell Fayed to go jump?
Let it go... for her sons' sake.
I wish everyone would leave this story alone. I can’t imagine her sons hearing some of this stuff and how it must affect them even though I’m sure they have learned to dismiss most of it. I think it must be difficult enough at their age to have to deal with all these rumors and books etc. Who cares what her mom said now? It means nothing and only hurts her sons.
me too! she would have fit in well with the Hollywood crowd that sleep around. From all that has been said and printed it appears her fascination was with lots of men, not just Muslim. Would I be committing blasphemy if I defined her a well bred slut??

Same here, too. I remember once, I was on a plane trip, and some woman was reading a biography of Di. This was years before her martydom, and I remember saying to my wife as we took our seats "why would anybody read a biography of Princess Di?" I still wonder.
