Jindal era begins with high hopes (Bobby Jindal R La. Inauguration today)

BATON ROUGE -- If Bobby Jindal is searching for a way to define his inauguration today as Louisiana governor, he might choose "Great Expectations."

He's said as much himself.

On the campaign trail and since, he's promised to make Louisiana, a state known nationally for its colorful and corrupt political icons, "the gold standard for ethics."

Embracing victory in the Oct. 20 primary, he declared a "fresh start" for a state often derided -- sometimes by candidate Jindal -- as an underachiever and even an embarrassment in many national comparisons.

Although he concentrated his campaign efforts in northern Louisiana, he has since acknowledged the devastation of hurricane-ravaged southern Louisiana and promised to restore the New Orleans area and the coastline.

And as governor-elect, he's distributing inaugural materials emblazoned with a seal that bears the words "Believe in Louisiana," a message that might be translated, "Believe in Me."

Just IMAGINE the fanfare and overblown media coverage this would bring had the new governor been a Dem replacing a Rep in that State.

You can just imagine the slobbering press panting and saying, "Oh I can wait until he raises taxes on the rich!" And the female press ladies could be heard saying, "He makes me so hot and bothered. And abortions will be free up until the moment of birth, and possibly after! Isn't he a dream?"

Gee, the Dem’s are strangely quiet on our little version of the current national election.

4 years ago we had a choice of a woman or a minority... We chose the woman to our eternal regret.

Now, the other guy is getting his chance.

I tend to think it’s a David vs. Goliath battle to change Louisiana (so there’s hope) but New Orleans is a lost cause until the next Mayor’s race.

That’s funny, but also true.

This guy's only 36 and he's a governor-elect. Man, I'm way behind!

Rush Limbaugh interviewed him in the Limbaugh Letter and he sounded like the man I would love to vote for as president instead of his being a "mere" governor! I hope he can do something in that corrupt state to really turn it around!

(Hi, stranger)

Jindal is an amazing man. Did you ever think you would see the day where a former Hindu named Piyush Jindal would become the governor of Louisiana? For all the race-baiting on the left, I think those of us on the right can be proud of the fact that we have been responsible for the gargantuan strides that have been made over the last 40 years towards a color-blind society.

It is a totally amazing story and I am proud to call him
a conservative and a Republican. We get all the bad press
and yet, who is more color-blind? NOT the DUmmies!

Their hero, Osama Obama, and the others mention it, and fight
over who is “blacker” and it’s disgusting.

And we elect this beautiful man!

Hey, stranger!

I was talking to a friend in Florida last night, and he said of Bobby Jindal: If he turns that state around, you’re looking at our next President.

I just wish he could run this time! He’s the kind of HERO
that we need and don’t have right now.

Very good to see you at least somewhere! :D
