"A third of my generation is dead because of politicians like Giuliani." -- Steven Pokorny, age 28, at Giuliani during meeting in Miami, Sunday, Jan. 13
MIAMI, Jan. 13 /Christian Newswire/ -- Rudy Giuliani was rattled by pro-life advocates and canceled his speech at his first bus-tour event Sunday in Miami. Activists have planned confrontations with Rudy for every stop of his Florida bus tour. Photos available online.
On Sunday, Jan. 13, at approximately 12:15 PM, pro-life activists were in the crowd at The Green Street Cafe (located at 3110 Commodor Plaza, Coconut Grove Florida, just outside Miami) waiting for Giuliani to begin his Florida Bus Tour.
When Rudy Giuliani arrived, Joseph Landry (age 26) was within 5 feet of the candidate, and began yelling: You are a baby killer! You are a baby killer! Florida is pro-life! Rudy wants public funding for abortion!" See news report. Law enforcement officials immediately escorted Mr. Landry from the area, while Mr. Landry continued his monologue.
Within Minutes, Steven Pokorny, age 28, stood to his feet and cried out, "A third of my generation is dead because of politicians like Giuliani! Giuliani wants to kill children and have you pay for it!" Law enforcement did not stop Mr. Pokorny.
At that point, Giuliani left the building, without addressing the crowd.
Mr. Pokorny was able to follow Mr. Giuliani for more than a minute, yelling out about Rudy's pro-choice, pro-homosexual agenda. Again, Mr. Pokorny was not interrupted by police.
Giuliani officials had no idea how many pro-lifers were in the crowd, and how many more times Giuliani would be confronted. This might explain why Mr. Giuliani did not make any remarks - and left the meeting without addressing supporters.
Pro-lifers have scheduled confrontations with Rudy on every stop of his Florida Bus tour.
Video footage of the confrontations with Rudy is available upon request.
There are a lot of Catholics (not Catholic FReepers, but a lot of other Catholics) who are totally behind the ‘Rats liberal agenda on every major issue EXCEPT abortion and homosexuality. And they WILL NOT vote for a Republican who doesn’t share their traditional view, especially on abortion (they may not vote for the ‘Rat, but they won’t vote for the Republican). And let’s not forget that Catholics compose nearly a quarter of the registered voters and are largely viewed as being the key to 2000 and 2004.
How far will I go to save a human life?
Generally, I would guess, that both you and I would go the same distance. That includes the life of the unborn. That isn’t the issue here.
If I thought for even a moment that shouting down our political opponents would save lives, I would support such action.
Our Founding Fathers were blessed by God with an insight that few have ever had, and they used that Godly insight to debate and write our Bill of Rights, and our Constitution, among other priceless documents.
One of the inalienable rights is the right to political free speech. That free speech is denied when the speaker is shouted down. Not, heckled, not mocked, but shouted down. Who are we to deny a God given right from another?
Furthermore, widespread use of this ‘tool’ to stifle free speech is very dangerous. I prefer to use Code Pink as the comparison, but since you brought up Hitler in post #537 let’s use him. Hitlers facist minions used the same tactics as the “Let’s Shout Down Rudy” crowd.
Look how many lives such a tactic can kill. History is littered with bodies who fell after this tactic was used.
If the Let’s Shout Down Rudy” crowd can use the same fascist tactic as Hitler’s minions (Im general loath to use him, but you put him on the table), why can’t Code Pink? I can’t think of any reasons, can you?
In short, the “Let’s Shout Down Rudy” crowd is misguided, and very dangerous. Their tactics cost lives, not save them.
Although I have said this already, I will repeat it just in case its been missed: Im talking specifically about shouting down political opponents, denying them their God given right to voice their political views. I am not talking about merely protesting.
I would just like to know why the Catholic church lets the likes of Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi, & Co. stay in their church. I thought murdering babies was grounds for excommunication....and you'd think that so many Catholics who are, indeed, pro-life would be see through the anti-American agenda that the Rats truly have.
Pretty typical--and pretty stupid. Most folks can see pretty quickly who is telling the truth and who is twisting in the wind. You clearly fall in the former category.
JustAnotherDeadPony will probably be back next week with a new screenname and the same trollish behavior. And so it goes...
Yeah, I didn't think you could answer my challenge to you.
For those of you who might be curious, here was my challenge:
Nic posted;
You are no different than a liberal or a fascist who would silence anyone with views or who have a manner of speaking with which you disagree.
My answer:
And how would I do that? By shouting them down perhaps?
----------
I think he meant yes, but well never know.
You were answered, but you don’t get repeated answers to the same question.
so........STUFF IT.
Huh? I'd say that Rudy's fascist followers here want to silence the anti-abortion activists that oppose Rudy... and the firefighters that oppose Rudy... and the anti-gun control people that oppose Rudy... and the anti-gay people that oppose Rudy... and so on.
Rudy CHOSE not to speak--or even try. He was not prevented from doing so by less than a handful of activists following him on the parade route and chanting some less than favorable comments about his record on abortion.
Many Catholics, myself included, are disgusted by the seeming apathy or outright leftist agenda of the overwhelming majority of American bishops. Pope Benedict seems to be working to change this, but it isn’t as easy as it sounds (there just aren’t a lot of qualified candidates to choose from, but that is starting to change). According to Canon Law, Kennedy and Pelosi, et al are, in fact, excommunicated whether there is a formal excommunication or not.
There you go..........letting FACTS getting into the way of your FEEEEEEEElings.
And that apparently doesn't bother them one wit!
Why should it, their “religion” is secular-humanist/moral-relativist leftism and they are the elite of the elites in that regard. They sold their souls to the devil a long time ago and got the perfect Faustian bargain.
Oh, that's right....I forgot...that "moral relativism" thingy they got going.
Thanks for the letter, it sheds a lot of light on what Reagan said in the year before he ran for President.
Answered where?
Surely you’re not denying the history of Germany of the 30’s and 40’s are you?
You're welcome. Isn't it amazing how similar the words were to those uttered before he signed the bill as governor? In other words, the man was never pro-choice or pro-abortion. His positions never changed. Funny--you still are unwilling to just admit that.
No. I'm questioning your bizarre comparison of government-suppressed free speech to two or three protesters during a parade uttering unflattering statements about a candidate's record and said candidate's choice to not respond or remain in the area and address the crowds.
Darn those pesky little facts, huh? ;-)
Because you keep repeating your question, and have repeatedly been answered, you should be able to find it.
You can start looking back at posts which number in the 300’s for my responsES. (That’s plural.)
