"A third of my generation is dead because of politicians like Giuliani." -- Steven Pokorny, age 28, at Giuliani during meeting in Miami, Sunday, Jan. 13
MIAMI, Jan. 13 /Christian Newswire/ -- Rudy Giuliani was rattled by pro-life advocates and canceled his speech at his first bus-tour event Sunday in Miami. Activists have planned confrontations with Rudy for every stop of his Florida bus tour. Photos available online.
On Sunday, Jan. 13, at approximately 12:15 PM, pro-life activists were in the crowd at The Green Street Cafe (located at 3110 Commodor Plaza, Coconut Grove Florida, just outside Miami) waiting for Giuliani to begin his Florida Bus Tour.
When Rudy Giuliani arrived, Joseph Landry (age 26) was within 5 feet of the candidate, and began yelling: You are a baby killer! You are a baby killer! Florida is pro-life! Rudy wants public funding for abortion!" See news report. Law enforcement officials immediately escorted Mr. Landry from the area, while Mr. Landry continued his monologue.
Within Minutes, Steven Pokorny, age 28, stood to his feet and cried out, "A third of my generation is dead because of politicians like Giuliani! Giuliani wants to kill children and have you pay for it!" Law enforcement did not stop Mr. Pokorny.
At that point, Giuliani left the building, without addressing the crowd.
Mr. Pokorny was able to follow Mr. Giuliani for more than a minute, yelling out about Rudy's pro-choice, pro-homosexual agenda. Again, Mr. Pokorny was not interrupted by police.
Giuliani officials had no idea how many pro-lifers were in the crowd, and how many more times Giuliani would be confronted. This might explain why Mr. Giuliani did not make any remarks - and left the meeting without addressing supporters.
Pro-lifers have scheduled confrontations with Rudy on every stop of his Florida Bus tour.
Video footage of the confrontations with Rudy is available upon request.
Many have been saved by grass-roots activism.
Grass-roots activism also brought us, most recently, a Supreme Court that is better at interpreting, not inventing, the Constitution.
You’re really loopy if you think two dudes making fools of themselves at a pit stop for a lower-tier candidate is more important than what the grass roots has accomplished over the years.
I think you should read all my posts, as I have already addressed the criminal actions part that is not protected under Freedom of Speech.
Sorry that you dislike the fact that I both support someone’s right to Freedom of Speech and the fact that it does not mean that criminal acts are protected....
You insult God by claiming you know who or what I do or do not defend in real life.
You sure are paranoid, claiming that anyone who disagrees with you is “holier-than-thou” and is telling you to “shut up.”
And you didn’t answer my question: how do you know who or what I do or do not defend in real life?
One of the saddest things about the abortion genocide of the past 36 years is that so many people will never find their true soulmate in life—the one person who was meant to be theirs, but who was instead slaughtered by abortion doctors.
I have two daughters in their thirties who are still single and searching for the men who were destined to be their lifemates. I hope those men were not killed in the womb 30-35 years ago.
I am not debating with you the manner and method by which someone could be more effective or less effective in their speech.
As I first mentioned in about post #44 or so, the right to speech is what is protected and which you seek to silence, unless it is according to YOUR personal preference.
And I specifically separated you from support of the criminal acts BEFORE I challanged you to answer my intial question.
I hope you are right,,,but,,,,the current CHAOS plays right to Giuliani's strategy!! No one is helped more by chaos than Giuliani.
I appreciate your stance, and I agree with the slavery analogy (that one day in modern society it will be viewed the same way. I shudder to imagine a modern, technologically-hyper-advanced society where it would be otherwise.). Where we disagree is in the road to take to get there. I think it’s good for you to do what you’re doing if it is where you can excel. Praying is wonderful. But I think we also need a greater emphasis on real, human to human advocacy, less marches or protests.
I mean did any marches/ protest change ANYONE’S opinion on the War in Iraq? And when talking about abortion, it’s particularily important that you change the opinions of the citizens/ voters— without them behind your cause, it’s just a matter of another election or two before the decision is changed yet again.
Do you not agree that some protests are more helpful than others?
Do you not agree that sometimes a protest might backfire and, rather than helping the cause, set it back?
How these Rudy supporters wish we prolifers would just go away during the campaign!
We must be doing something right.
Um, no you didn't. You stated the following:
So they were on private property, so what? The issue of life is so important, so over riding that it nothing else matters. Or so it was argued to me up-thread. Somehow you yourself respect private property rights, but not the wishes of the Founding Fathers?Which, by the way, misrepresents what I've said since the beginning of the thread; meaning, you are lying about what I said, as I have never indicated that criminal acts are protected, nor have I said that "the issue of life is so important" or "so over riding that nothing else matters." Those are YOUR OWN words.
I said: The Bill of Rights exist to protect the people from those who would govern them, not vice versa. I have also said, it is not upon YOU to dictate how, when, where, in what manner, or how often someone chooses to FREELY SPEAK what they think or believe, BARRING CRIMINAL ACTION. I also said only liberals and fascists would dictate those kinds of terms and then it would only be allowed according to their ideals or values.
Oh yes the grassroots...
How many pregnant girls did you take into your home and supported so they would not feel desparate enough to murder their own babies ???
You are full of what others should do ...whatever that might be...it has not been identified for the last 400 posts...but you have not done anything yourself and you do not have any plans to...
Apparently so!
Who is wanting you to shut up? Not me. I can’t believe all the whining from those who can’t stand it that not everyone thinks these protests are a good idea.
I most certainly do want to “debate the merits on honesty and truth” and whatever you meant by that.
But you refuse to even acknowledge what the issue is!
I said you are sounding like the Dixie Chicks and explain why and all you do is pontificate that you “shall not impose MY will on others in the arena of public speech.”
Which is exactly what I said constituted DixieChixism. Will you address that, please?
(1) Please explain HOW discussing whether an act of speech has a positive or negative effect constitutes “impos[ing] YOUR will on others.”
(2) Please explain HOW discussing whether an act of speech has a positive or negative effect constitutes “wanting to FORCE others to shut up.”
Then you are vile.
To take a phrase that is one of honor and heroism in our country, and which celebrates the bravery and self-sacrifice of ordinary Americans, and use it as a “new way” to capture the events at Tianammen Square, specifically the tank rolling, is obscene.
Isn’t it ironic that Rudy and his handlers can’t deal with the freedom of expression of two prolifers, yet they honor and applaud the vulgar and offensive public displays of the Gay Pride parades?
It Seems Rudy and Co. want Free Speech for SOME, but not for ALL.
The Mussolini comparison is not at all farfetched.
The failure to condone equals "dictat[ing] where and how" a message may be delivered?
Only if you're the Dixie Chicks. You just keep digging that hole. Please, I really want to know how you conclude that the not condoning something is the same thing as dictating that it cannot be done.
I think this post just proved you’re a lawyer.
