I am always amused that stating a candidates record is an attack.

"It was real interesting hearing Fred Thompson talk about Ronald Reagan last night," Huckabee said. "Because Fred Thompson supported [then-President] Gerald Ford in 1976 and not Ronald Reagan. He supported [then-Sen.] Howard Baker in 1980 and not Ronald Reagan. I appreciate his recent conversion, but some of us were for Ronald Reagan back in the early days; our legacy goes back a little further."

“Of Huckabee’s Metamucil’s joke, on Sunday morning Thompson said “his response was to return fire with some potty humor. That’s the best he could come up with for the last three days.”

That bold text is so persuasive! I bet color would convince even more.
Convince them of what, I have no idea.

The Metamucil remark was childish and certainly unpresidential. Other than that, ugly doesn’t come into questioning policies and issues.

ABC News is simply following the news media and DNC strategy to push Huckabee to the nomination. They’re saving all the dirt they have collected on Huckabee until the general election.

both men tread more lightly on the candidate who leads the most recent poll in that state, Sen. John McCain It looks to me like both Thompson and Huckabee are positioning themselves to be McCain's VP.

Fred Voted for the Nominee I am sure. There is one candidate who has campaigned on behalf of Democrats against Republicans and that is Mike Huckabee. He also pardoned more criminals than Mike Dukakis. Violent repeat offenders. I looked around the Baptist Church today and the place was filled with probably 1,300 people. Huckabee released that many criminals. It really adds some scale for it.
He talks like a liberal. He wants to be a vertical candidate who builds a bridge between liberals and conservatives. He can keep that bridge to no where.

I think that Thompson wants to knock out the Huck, before he takes on his good buddy McCain.
Don’t know how Thompson is going to deal with McCain one on one being good friends and all.

Wow, Huckabee is at least as nasty as McInsane.
FRED: Huckabee has “raised enough money now to get some hit pieces and dredge up personal stuff and personal accusations against me,” Thompson told CNN. “And now you’re seeing the real Mike Huckabee come out. So, I think we’ve done a favor to the American people. Because these are serious times, and they require somebody that knows what they’re doing and doesn’t walk into a situation with foreign representatives and heads of foreign nations with training wheels on.”

How do you claim to be the heir to Reagan when you voted against him twice? If it had been up to Fred, Reagan would have never been President. It doesn’t make you question his judgement?

Truly pathetic. When do we get to hear some rebuttal concerning Guantanamo Bay, Immigration and the teachers union? Probably never.

An article that doesn't trash Fred from ABC?
From what I've heard, Southern voters like this kind of thing and will pick sides. And Fred relates much more strongly to the average Southerner than does Huck.

Fred pointed out Huck’s liberal record accurately. America got a healthy dose of truth, thanks to Fred. Huck is not a conservative. He can’t defend it, so he attacks Fred personally. Fine by me, but that still doesn’t explain his liberal record. He has no business being our nominee. Neither is McCain. Not ever.

Sports analogy: Tennessee 31 Arkansas 14. ‘Nough said. Fred will thump the Huckster like the Vols did the Razorbacks.
