The LAPD's SIS unit kicks a$$!

While Kimber Arms seems to just be using this as a marketing ploy, if the SIS detectives endorsed this new pistol, then I might consider buying one...

Photobucket The new SIS family of pistols was designed in cooperation with LAPD™ SSI Detectives for their duty carry. Slides and frames are machined from stainless steel.

"a gun company is marketing a line of high-end pistols named for the LAPD's Special Investigation Section, an elite group of plainclothes detectives with a history of fatally shooting suspects.

They say that like it is a bad thing.

Anything Kimber makes is good, but I don’t see anything so special about this one, other than a few more bells and whistles.

As far as the “outraged” lefties, they’re just displaying their ignorance. Somebody needs to publicly tell them how stupid they look when they can’t tell one gun from another. The police chief made a good start, but the LA media probably won’t report it.

WOW, I trained with the Kimber Arms LAPD SWAT version built on a tight 1911 frame. Sweet smooth weapon. They are very hard to procure by the public.

Can these city and civil rights leaders tell me what criminal would subject themself to a background check, then purchase one of these for over $1000?

"It is very disturbing," said Councilman Jack Weiss. "If any member of the public is shot with one of these guns or, heaven forbid, a cop is shot with one these guns, what would be the explanation?"

Symbolism over substance rears its foolish head again.

The only disturbing thing about this incident is that someone with a child's level of understanding of the world has somehow stepped into a government position that ought to have been reserved for adults...

Let me guess, deprived childhood? Poverty? Racist oppression?

Liberals, they are so transparent.

This isn’t the first time Kimber has marketed a pistol designed to LAPD specs. An earlier model, the Custom II TLE (Tactical Law Enforcement) had LAPD SWAT input in its design - most notably the serrated front of the grip, the Mepro tritium dot sights and match barrel. I really like mine :)

City leaders criticize the modified version of a gun originally made for an elite unit of the Los Angeles Police Department that has a history of fatal shootings.

So, for instance, a history of non-fatal, near-miss shootings is better for us? I think not? Looked at one of those SIS pretties at the local gun shop a few days ago. Nice. I keep asking for something like that for Christmas. Guess I have to start reminders for my birthday now.

Why would anyone have their underwear in a bunch over this? Especially civil rights “leaders”; it seems like a great tool to protect one’s civil rights.

Heaven forbid that we mere subjects be allowed protect ourselves with the same weapons the government is allowed to use against us.

the modified version of a gun ......that has a history of fatal shootings.

Sounds like an endorsement to me. Isn't that what they're made for?

They always keep the focus on the gun. Never people.

Like guns have special magical powers, in a society that officially does not believe in magic.

If a gun is used in a crime, it is ritually killed, when the perp walks in a few years.

So this design is “implicated” in numerous killings, when the people holding the magical guns are those who walk deliberately into very dangerous situations. Some evil force has permeated the very mainspring of this gun, and if civilians get them, they too will be forced to kill.

I think we need an official gun exorcism ceremony to make the antis feel better about these supernatural emanations from machined steel.

LAPD's Special Investigation Section, an elite group of plainclothes
detectives with a history of fatally shooting suspects.

IIRC, this is the group that occassionally tails suspect criminals
(armed theft, bank robbers).
I think a couple of the unit were in place when a small armed theft
gang held up a store in the San Fernando Valley...and that was
the end of that gang (ventilated with plenty of in-and-out bullet holes).
Hearing about some thugs getting their own medicine from the
good guys: "PRICELESS!"
