The Colorado sheriff who dispatched a SWAT team to break into a family's home, hold them at gunpoint and take custody of an 11-year-old boy for a medical exam sought by Social Services is defending the actions, saying the boy's father told officers to "bring an army" if they returned.

I looked up HTML. I’ll try to do better from now on.
“Why was that necessary?”
Because the principles that undergird the folks who generally organize, control, and administer public schools are the same principles that give rise to the beliefs, values, attitudes and actions of this “sheriff.”
They are the principles of statism, of “government knows best,” of “All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.”

Well then, in your world, I guess we’d have to round up everyone who went to public school.
Good post.
Geee......I can’t help but notice you’re from Colorado...interesting coincidense
I am an EMT, I respond to these kinds of calls. The father would not even allow the medics to determine the child’s vitals, which would have gone a long way to protect the father from charges of child neglect. Rattle off all the statistics you want the father was wrong. The medics needed to examine the child to use those charts you threw in there. Get over yourself.
He was "skitching"-- what we used to call holding on to the side of a car while it is moving, typically sliding on an icy surface. A lot of fun at the time, but we were really, really ignorant on its dangers.

Why?
Cause they would look stupid for making such a big deal out of this and now were using the hospital as cover . The use of SWAT was just plain stupid on the person that authorized calling them out. The SWAT team just followed orders and got to practice dynamic entry and takedown for an easy workout. Oh, well.
I didn't expect one. It's clear that you haven't read any of the associated articles and are essentially talking out of your posterior.

He did allow it initially. But the paras wanted to bring in the boy for observation. Please read the thread.

“Well then, in your world, I guess wed have to round up everyone who went to public school.”
Why would you think that? That's a non sequitur.
Being OPPOSED to statism, I'M not the one (unlike the fellow I quoted above) who believes that folks should be rounded up for their political, social, religious and cultural beliefs when they contradict the state.

THANK YOU.... I’ve been on the FR for years. AHHHH!!!! and I’ve always used the “< P >” when I could have been hitting ENTER twice.
Thank you....you’ve saved me hours...hahahahahahaha.
Vitals are respitory rate, pulse and blood pressure. None of which are on the charts or useful and necesarry to determing concussion or skull fracture.
Simple observation, answering questions, reciting Bible verses (gasp!) as the parents did is actually useful and appropriate per the charts.
Yes. I am talking out of my ass.
The father was ALSO a paramedic, and just as capable. Are you actually attempting to suggest that in Colorado this uninvited paramedic was going to check vitals for free? - no it was I'm going to check vitals - your training inst good enough, and your bill will be in the mail - please pay promptly.
Thank you Fishtalk for backing up the military style government fee extraction system. In your world the fathers own training is immaterial, as were the guns and swat team response to refusal to shell out unwarranted money. The kid got medical care - his father was a medic. End of story except for government bureaucrats with delusions of adequacy.
I have a lot of friends who are nurses and paramedics. They don't shell out for ambulance call unless they see something that warrants it. That is their right. That the father chased a burglar off with an axe years ago does not take away his right to provide free medical care for his child.
The sheriff left things out himself, and is trying to spin this to avoid a justified lawsuit.
I’m on the father’s side on this one. This SWAT crap has got to stop before it gets any more out of hand. They’re trying to paint the father as a nut-case because he chased a burglar down the street with an ax! There’s a burglar you’ll never see in that neighborhood again. Problem solved.
That sounds far more normal than NOT protecting your family. Did anyone ask if the burglar might have been a rapist or child molester? No, the Dad is just a nut because he doesn’t want his kids attending liberal indoctrination centers that condone and preach the acceptance of a Police/Nanny State, homosexuality, diversity, globalism, ad nauseum.
Seriously, I personally chased a pervert out of Mt. Shasta, CA back in 1980 when he was harassing and following my wife and kids while walking home from school. My weapon of choice turned out to be an ax-handle due to convenience.
Living along I-5 left us vulnerable to many transients and lowlife passing through on their way to Oregon. I caught up with the scumbag in the center of town (the only stoplight back then), stopped my truck in the middle of the intersection, got out and grabbed the ax-handle from my saw box and directly confronted him. He ran like off like a little scared bunny.
This all happened in front of 3 of the local LEO’s whose office was right there on the NW corner. Not one word from my LEO friends, but instant cheers from nearby residents who had witnessed the weirdo stalking my wife & kids.
The Police couldn’t legally do anything until he made a more aggressive move. However, the husband/father, that being me, claimed unrestricted rights to protect my family.
Mt. Shasta was a logging town back then, so things were different. Men could be men without being chastised for it.
Had the little sh!t not outrun me, I would have not hesitated to proceed giving him a well-earned thumping, which was my intention. Sadly, today I hear Mt. Shasta has become yuppie cosmic heaven.
