We begin by recalling the profound words of Ronald Reagan at the Conservative Political Action Conference Feb. 15, 1975: A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency or simply to swell its numbers. We believed that then, and we believe it now. The issue for us -- and for the conservative community -- boils down to which of the candidates is most representative of the fundamental conservative principles we believe in. The answer is Fred Thompson.

F&F also had some fool (I came in after they had introduced him) saying that Romney was the best last night because he was the only one who had the courage to attack McPain.
The MSM is out this morning in full swing to annihilate Fred.
Huck is central to the Rudy McHuckster cabal. The only question is whether he is closer to McCain or Guilani. There's a reason these three don't attack each other.
Of course not. They let it stand.
A Ron Paul supporter would say something like that.
It seems to me that all this Fred Thompson news is too little, too late. By now, no one is listening or hearing anything about Fred Thompson. He should have been more forceful last September when he finally made his announcement to run (after dilly-dallying around for about 4 months).
I actually prefer Fred to the others in policy and in demeanor. However, he seems to be off of the radar screen for the news media and for the voters. It’s a shame. I hope I am wrong about this, and he manages to make a surge, but I am not holding my breath.

IMHO, I think HUCK is a Democrat troll bent on destroying the Republican party.
Their targets are, in this order:
1) Tancredo
2) Hunter, and
3) Thompson.
With the first, he is out of the race.
With the second, he is out of the debates.
And with Thompson, they will have him marginalized, soon.
One nice clean little cabalistic, exclusionary race with the four RINOs and one nutcase left standing.
Wonderful.
If I were you Fredheads, and I would go scorched earth right now, go for broke.
That other magazine endorsed a rino. The real conservative mag made the real conservative choice.
Exactly. The dems cross over to vote for him. They want HuckUsUp to be the Republican candidate BADLY.
I’m not saying “Nobody was swayed by Fred” last night.
I’m saying that I don’t think it is the second coming that so many are trying to promote.
Do you think that ripping into one of the other candidates (no matter who), makes Thompson look big?
It is one thing to critique all the others, because that is how you differentiate yourself.
BUT when you set your sights on the bogey in front of you (Huckabee), the bogey behind you (McCain) is going to take you out.
Like I said before, Thompson always had (for me) the aura of authority; a person above the fray; untarnished by the stain of “petty politicking”; almost larger than life (like Reagan), but last night’s performance brought him down to the level of the common politician.
This really hurt my mental image of him.
Fred was 3rd in Iowa, over McCain. McCain won NH by getting the Dem crossover vote. Michigan will go to Romney probably. If Fred wins SC we would have 4 winners in 4 states with Fred winning the most conservative one with closed primary's.
<<BUT when you set your sights on the bogey in front of you (Huckabee), <<
Get real. Setting the facts straight is what has needed to be done and what Fred needed to do and he did it well, with just the right touch.
...or Ron Paul. Saw lots of signs for him in heavy Republican country yesterday.
They can’t say he’s “lazy” anymore, so now they’ve changed to too “late”. Fred has to be too something because the other candidates don’t hold a candle to the only conservative running.
Good endorsement for Fred...this was the magazine Ronald Reagan read quite a bit, I believe
Are we sure this was the endorsement Fred was referring to?
Make that the only conservative left in the race other than Hunter that gets no air time.
It bothered me to see Fred have to attack Huck that way because it is not in his nature.
But he has GOT to do what he has got to do to win.
Sitting back with the attitude “they can take me or leave me” isn’t going to win him the nomination.
Hell, Fred’s an actor right? If he has to “act” to do it, then so be it. He has to convince the voters why he is THE best choice.
After he wins he can go back to the “real” Fred.. the mature and steady adult that we need to lead this country.. and world.
