I’m not saying “Nobody was swayed by Fred” last night.
I’m saying that I don’t think it is the second coming that so many are trying to promote.
Do you think that ripping into one of the other candidates (no matter who), makes Thompson look big?
It is one thing to critique all the others, because that is how you differentiate yourself.
BUT when you set your sights on the bogey in front of you (Huckabee), the bogey behind you (McCain) is going to take you out.
Like I said before, Thompson always had (for me) the aura of authority; a person above the fray; untarnished by the stain of “petty politicking”; almost larger than life (like Reagan), but last night’s performance brought him down to the level of the common politician.
This really hurt my mental image of him.
<<BUT when you set your sights on the bogey in front of you (Huckabee), <<
Get real. Setting the facts straight is what has needed to be done and what Fred needed to do and he did it well, with just the right touch.
I'm not saying that it "made him look big" but it convinced some people that Fred is in this to win! It showed some "undecideds" that Huckabee definitely isn't a conservative - at least enough to do more research to find out Huck's record rather than just trusting what Huck has said about himself or what the local (typical leftist MSM) newspaper has been pushing.
The folks I talked to, prior to last night, just thought Fred was a nice guy but not passionate about wanting to be POTUS.
I'm truly sorry that your "mental image" of Fred is now tarnished. This isn't touch football - it's a full contact sport.
So, are you gonna complain or tell us which candidate is a better conservative? Here's a hint - there isn't one. Here's another hint - Fred is the best we've got so go out and support him and quit bashing.
By pointing out the TRUTH? How is that?
Like you said, your a Huckabee supporter.
