If there's no FRed and no Hunter and we're left with the four headless RINOs, then what?
January 10, 2008 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/10/2008 3:40:52 PM PST by Jim Robinson

The question was posed to me last night, if the only two conservatives in the race were to drop out, leaving the hapless RINOs Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee and McCain to ward off the Evil Witch of the East then, Jim, what do we do?

Well, I think four issues that most of us conservatives will agree on that are at the top or near the top of our priority lists are National Defense, Border Security, Guns and Life should be considered. We can argue all day long on whether or not these guys are constitutionally minded, small government fiscal conservatives, and I don't believe any of them are, but we'll leave that for another day. Let's concentrate on National Defense, Border Security, Guns and Life.

Well, I can see right off that that rules out Rudy, the draft dodging, gun grabbing, sanctuary city abortionist. At least the other three claim to be pro-life, although Romney has been a pro-choice abortionist for all of his elected history until he decided to run for president. I think Romney's pro choice, big government nanny state (RomneyCare) record gives him two big black eyes and should knock him out of any further consideration. That leaves Huckabee and McCain.

Now, all four of these guys are terrible on border security even though they're all claiming now to be border hawks. McCain led the charge for amnesty and the rest fell in line like dutiful RINO troopers. Can't really make a distinction among these guys on the border issue. All fail, though I think most conservatives would rank McCain at or near the bottom.

Guns. Rudy's definitely out. McCain's out. Romney's not much better. Guess Huckabee the big duck hunter outshoots the others in this category.

Rudy fails in all categories, McCain and Romney fail on guns, and all fail on borders. So I guess Huckabee has more to offer over the others at this point as he is at least pro-life and pro-gun.

Now comes national defense. Sorry, but I can't see the draft dodging, gun grabbing, gay loving, cross-dressing, illegal alien pandering abortion activist Rudy Giuliani as a very appealing or effective guy to head up our military, even if he did make some rousing anti-terrorist speeches on 9/11. The "gays should be allowed to serve openly in the military" Romney (no military or national security experience that I know of) doesn't give me goosebumps either.

So, again, we're down to Huckabee and McCain. Now you all know that I like Huckabee as he is a likable fellow, and I hate McCain, but wait. If the whole shebang is going to be decided on which of the still standing Republican wannabes should defend America from the terrorists and the surrendering Democrats, I think I'll have to go with McCain over Huckabee. At least McCain served in the military and has a whole lot more military and national security experience while serving on various committees in the senate than does Huckabee. Huckabee has none. And I doubt Huckabee can defeat Hillary. But then, McCain probably won't either, so guess that leaves plan B. Squat down, tuck your head down between your knees and kiss your ass goodbye.

Here's praying that the only two all around consistently reliable conservatives hang in there and one of them gets the nod.

Go Hunter!! Go, FRed, GO!!

That is not true in the least.

Not a factor? Ask presidents Gore or Kerry.

You got it. RomneyCare/HillaryCare, et al, will bury us.

Most Americans (and certain most RINOs and Republican Firsters) have an extreme aversion to the words and concept of "Third Party". It is almost as if it is a deeply held allergy in the American body politic for years on end.

There is a very good reason for that.

Fifty seven percent of all voters vote against the liberal and, lo and behold, the liberal gets to be President of the United States with less than 43% of the popular vote and the Supreme Court stays non-conservative for at least another two decades.

Those who forget the Lesson of 1992 are doomed to repeat it.

Say, why don’t we simply take a poll on which candidates conservative FReepers most favor and support, then observe and hope that other grassroots organizations have similar leanings, then mobilize and join forces nationwide and work like hell to get a genuine CONSERVATIVE nominated and elected. To hell with the liberals, RINOs and Hillary Clinton, et al.

Wow! all for that! But you need to put Hunter in the deal... And at least give us a "none of the above" on these polls. I have not been able to participate very much lately.

In fact, in every poll we’ve ever taken on FR, the pro Life & Liberty, fiscal, and national security conservatives Thompson and Hunter stand out head and shoulders as FReeper favorites over all RINOs, liberals, moderates and wannabes. For a variety of reasons, the vast majority of FReepers simply do not believe or trust Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee, McCain or Paul.

And there will be one, two or three new ones per week for the next several weeks.

At any rate, you have my promise here: I will be voting REPUBLICAN this November, even if the dude does not have an (R) after his name.

Tired of voting for Democrats in either party!!

I agree with the tapdance between Huck & McCain.

Additionally, Huck has had himself badly damaged by the media and Republicans referring to him as “Baptist Preacher.” (For some reason many folks hate baptist preachers???)

McCain never had to answer for the Keating Five. I guarantee he will hear about it in this election. (At least with Hillary over Obama, he can balance it against Whitewater and Hsu.)

McCain is 71. If he lasted just one term, then perhaps Hunter or Thompson can gain traction during those out-years.

In any case, I think Giuliani and Romney are out of the question.

McCain is pretty scary. I don't think the man is capable of taking advice from anyone. That could spell disaster in a national crisis.

At this point for me it is:

FRED OR BUST!

Some people made very similar statements about the California Governor race between Swartzeneggar and Bustamonte. Some said a vote for McClintock is a vote for Bustamonte, the worst case scenario.

And then Californian's elected Swartzeneggar and we have Swartzeneggar with a "D" after his name, or Bustamonte with an "R" after his name. What's the difference?

I won't sit out this election. What I also won't do is vote for Giuliani, Romney, or McCain.

Since Reagan I have gotten involved in the political process. Volunteering at the local campaign office, attending caucuses, laughing off Liberals giving me the finger because of my GOP bumper stickers, etc. But if Rudy, McCain, or Huckabee are nominated, I’m sitting this campaign out. I will vote - We do have an important election for Governor here in WA, but I’m not donating money or raising a sweat to get these 3-stooges in office.
I was so hoping to be involved with the election of President Fred Thompson, but If it does not happen then I would think Romney would be the least likely to advance a liberal agenda from the whitehouse.

To allow a Democrat into the Whitehouse is pure treason. To allow a Democrat to appoint the next 3 Supreme Court Justices is pure treason. In your heart, you already know what you have to do. It's not what you want to do, but it's what you have to do.

RUMSFELD: "You go to war with the army you have, not with the army you want."

Highly qualified Conservatives like my Congressman John Culberson (Houston, TX District 7) need a Republican President in the Whitehouse regardless of the type of Republican in order to have any chance of moving the Conservative agenda forward.

Don't abandon fellow soldiers on the battlefield to be slaughtered. Never.

Oh please, you’re talking to someone who has a LONG line of military service and a son who served in Iraq and this family knows damn well about what patriotism means. I’m standing beside my country, period.

Hahahahahaha. Remember you said this?

"YOUR country? We are all a part of this country and we should pray for OUR country, not just yours. I know a few soldiers that could enlighten you, but I doubt you'd listen."

Hypocrisy, thy is pay dirt.

Since I don't have the ability to speak for any one but myself you a$$, I say MY country. But, since you are under the delusion that I speak for everyone, I now demand that you and the entire FR forum, hell the entire country for that matter, get behind Hunter.

You're a jerk newbie. Begone.

Then get ready for President Hillary!. This is a bad thing, but not necessarily the worst thing.

One thing the “Any Republican over any Democrat” group misses is that the President is also head of the national party. He gets to stamp his image on it. Having the Republican party remade in the image of a RINO would probably be even worse than President Hillary!.
