The South Carolina Republican Party and FOX News Channel have determined in their infinite wisdom (and audacity) WHICH candidates the voters of South Carolina will hear tonight!
FOX already pulled this stunt in New Hampshire last Saturday night. For those of us who were really interested in hearing Congressman Duncan Hunter's viewpoints in contrast to the other candidates - TOUGH LUCK.
My blood is boiling.
As a brand new citizen who voted for the first time ever in the NH Primary on Jan. 8th, I believe it's WAY TOO EARLY in the race for the media to eliminate serious candidates and deprive voters the opportunity to make well-informed educated choices at the ballot box.
To call the S.C. GOP and complain: 800-215-2344 or 803-988-8440
Hunter would have had a better chance of placing i;n the top 5 in NH if the gatekeeper MSM, Fox and ABC in this instance, had allowed him to debate prior to the voting. The NH primary was originally supposed to be the primary where all candidates got an equal start. The NH GOP withdrew their support of those debates, BTW.
Hunter is one of my two choices too but if he cannot poll higher and get votes higher than he has been, he is not earning a place in the debates.
It’s clear they chose a criteria that was designed to exclude Hunter.
For example, they could have only included candidates with delegates so far in the race... Duncan Hunter qualifies.
They could have included those that made a showing in NH... Duncan Hunter did as well as Rudy.
No, they chose to go by nationwide popularity polls rather than looking at the only polling that matters—actual votes.
I fear for our country more than ever—when you rely so heavily on the media to tell you which candidates you are allowed to vote for, stick a fork in us, we’re done.
Okay. You convinced me. Hunter’s failure to attract national attention greater than 1% or place higher than 6 in NH is obviously the fault of FOX, MSM, and has nothing to do with Hunter’s failure to convince people to vote for him via his campaign.
If every person who said they like him but he does stand a chance..........WOULD JUST ONCE CAST A VOTE/( or opinion poll) FOR HIM.....he’d stand a chance!
“So when we have the general election debates, I presume you’ll be lobbying for the inclusion of any candidate, now matter how little support he has or how big a crackpot he is, as long as he’s on the ballot?”
Yes.
This is complete B.S. I want to hear from Cap Fendig. How dare the MSM shut him down! We all know that the only reason Cap Fendig isn’t the nominee is that the MSM doesn’t want him to be! grumblegrumbleMSMCapFendiggrumblegrumble
Paul has complied with voting regulations and is a valid candidate. He has a decent following and is on the ballot. He has served in our armed services and is a solid citizen. He serves in Congress.
Yes he should be included in every debate.
I wouldn’t vote for this ass-hat clown for love or money.
Agree.
I find it interesting, Hunter who is and has been one of the most outspoken candidates in regards to this illegal invasion of our country, the one who has called for secure borders, built fences etc, has not flipped flopped on this issue, is one of the very few representative with a kid in Iraq, is now being excluded from the debates.
This really reeks.
You're going to have Duncan put down?!?!
Good God man, I can't support THAT!
Duncan Hunter is a solid conservative. He has lived his life with honor, and serves in our Congress. He served in Vietnam. His son has done three tours in Iraq.
Duncan Hunter has complied with all election requirements to be placed on state ballots across this nation. He is a valid candidate.
Hunter should be included. It turly is a remarkable slap at conservatism and even to decent U.S. Citizens to deny a voice to this man. I am ashamed of the Republican Party and FoxNews colaborating to deny Hunter a voice in this debate.
If anyone is qualified to be president of this nation, it is Congressman Duncan Hunter.
At this point, if you are on the ballot, you deserve to be heard.
Period!
Yes i would.
I like the guy as much as anyone, but just as I had to put down my family dog last year, its time for Duncan to go.
You’re going to have Duncan put down?!?!
Good God man, I can’t support THAT!
(chuckle)
No, I’d put him in a coming GOP cabinet to be crystal clear.
(love the screen name btw, one of my all time favorite comic strip characters)
There are 11 candidates on the ballot (http://www.scgop.com/Candidates/Default.aspx?SectionId=923). If you put them all in a one hour debate, NONE of them get heard.
I see a effort by the RNC, more specifically the “all powerful Council”..........as in CFR, at work for the very reasons you stated, and because of his stance on China. And the media is just enabled by it.
You must be a new hire.
That being said, go ahead and change the title.
Squish it up a little though, there is a limit on characters in a title
Here it is:
Six candidates to participate in historic 2008 South Carolina Republican Party Presidential Candidates Debate in Myrtle Beach
Should John Cox and Alan Keyes be included too?
As to the second part of your questioning, it’s akin to the “Guiliani is the only who can beat Hillery, therefore to not vote for Rudy because of principle is a vote for Hillery”, crap. There are still plenty of independents who’ll choose the candidate best satisfying their criteria, not based on avoiding a combo dream-team any pundit happens to have concocted; the right-seat position might not even be picked from the running herd.
Why would you think Hunter supporters - should their candidate of choice alter course - not think Thompson their next logical pick?
