2 years of Clinton and his attempt to nationalize the health-care industry got us the most conservative Republican Congress in decades. That is what has allowed us to remain free and prosperous .Congress has much more power than the president. The president can’t write laws but Congress can and they can override a veto with a 66% majority.

Most of the things that the president does have to be approved by congress like nominations, judges etc.

To vote in a pro-Amnesty socialist because he calls himself a Republican (Huckabee or McCain) over a pro-Amnesty socialist who calls himself a Democrat is foolish at best and will destroy America and give us a Democrat Congress because the media will blame Republicans for anything a Republican president does like they Bash Bush constantly. But with a Democrat President at least we have a shot at having a Republican Congress. Remember that Congress has to approve any appointments even supreme court justices.

There’s no guarantee a Democrat President will give us a Republican Congress in 2010. Even the Republican Congress we got in 1996 was unable to enact most of its agenda and was forced to compromise with President Clinton on more than a few things. These compromises became a strategy, which, after 8 years, grew into the “compassionate conservatism” we all know and love today.

Also, McCain is a lot of things I don’t like, including pro-Amnesty, but calling him a socialist is a bit of a stretch.
