Or, are you saying that, irrespective of polls, voters in an open caucus are more likely to vote for a black candidate so they will appear to be pro-diversity?

Yes. Folks will say what sounds politically correct in public, but will be more likely to vote their hearts in a secret ballot. Compare, for example, the results in Dixville Notch, NH where a handful of folks vote just after midnight. With only 8 or so Democrat voters, there was no chance of a secret ballot, so it went 7 for the Black, 1 for the Hispanic. On the other hand, places with anonymous voting broke quite differently.

I’m always up for a good conspiracy theory, but New Hampshire uses paper ballots. In most of the state there is an optical scanning machine to read the paper ballot, but if any candidate suspected fraud they could demand a recount based on the original voter-marked paper. It seems to me that the Bradley ( Wilder ) effect is a much more likely explanation of what happened yesterday in New Hampshire, not secret signals from a 92 year old plutocrat.

The Pollsters poisoned the Well by their mere act of testing the Voters and publishing the results prior to the close of Polling. Plus, a Simple Game Theory.

This is much simpler than believing that people were lying to the media or some kind of fraud theory.

People get bored when watching a game where one team is being killed, especially if they can switch to another channel to watch a game that is still exciting. The Media had spent the days before and the actual election day telling people what a waste of time it was for them to drive to the polls to vote for Obama as he was going to beat Hillary by 10+ points! During the actual election day, the Drive By Media and even Fox News conducted a public Funeral for Hillary!

NH is a state with lots of Independents and they simply tuned into the other channel, i.e. the Republican Primary, where the same media had told them how Mitt Romney had won the prior night's Fox TV debate.

The Independents evidently wanted to have an impact in the election if they bothered to go to the polls, and they did. They threw their previously dedicated Obama votes over to the Republican Primary and voted for McCain.

Simple but effective. They changed the outcome of BOTH elections.

What a great idea. That will show ‘em. You’ll really get your point across by staying home and pouting on election day. If enough Republicans do that because their guy doesn’t get the nomination, Democrats will not only take the highest office in the Executive Branch, but they’ll probably pick up a lot of seats in Congress and the Senate as well, making them extraordinarily powerful. They’ll get any judges they want confirmed. They’ll get whatever obnoxious legislation they want rubber stamped through both houses and not ever have to worry about a veto. It will be “great” and will all be thanks to people like you who get in a huff and want to pack up and go home and pout if their guy doesn’t get the nomination.

To all those who threaten to stay at home if Hunter or Thompson don’t get the nomination, I say good riddance. The Republican party does not need people like you. I suggest you go form your own party so you never have to settle for a candidate that is not your first choice. That way your principles will always stay intact. You’ll never get a candidate elected and therefore will have no real say in government, but at least you’ll have your principles.

I agree. Isn’t that what happened in the last election and then so many democrats got into Congress/Senate?

I say, go and vote for the best candidate on the ticket, even if it’s NOT who you ultimately want. What’s doing to happen is going to happen and IMO, everything happens for a reason.

Better to vote for the lesser of the evils, then to let the Democrats have it all. Unfortunate, but true.

I continue to be very worried for the general election - I work at a large sw company. Overheard part of a converstation in the break room between 3 women, probably all in their early 30’s. I know 2 of them - very smart and good engineers.

Only heard part of their conversation but they were very sympathetic to that ‘attacks’ that HC was facing. Wow - vote for someone because you feel sorry for them????

You know, I may get a little passionate and carried away from the time, and maybe somebody says, "Well, you know, women shouldn't do that." Well, I disagree with that. It may take some getting used to because we haven't had a woman president, but, um, I'm confident that people are going to say, you know, "Wait a minute. I want a fighter in the White House."
