My problem with Romney is that he doesn’t draw well with Independents. Conservatives have to look elsewhere if they want to WIN in November.

So far the voters aren’t buying what Mitt is selling.

Mitt went negative way too soon .. this is the “competence” everyone is pointing to?

Just becasue the National Review tells me to support Romney, that means nothing.

My churning stomach tells me it is going to be a battle between McCain and Huck.

Ha ha ha, finally admitting Romney is toast, which I've been predicting for a while -- I love the sound of whimpering Mitt-bots in the morning!

I am supporting Romney as the best candidate with the financial resources to go the distance in November. He can unify all three branches of the party — economic conservatives, foreign policy conservatives, and social conservatives. He would also be exceptional in a debate setting against either Obama or Clinton. And, on economic matters, he’d be an exceptional president.

$$$$

Ditto! also he would deal in a far superior way with foreign leaders than ANY of the other candidates of either party.

2. McCain then goes to SC with a tremendous head of steam and can garner 32% or so of the vote. Who is going to stop McCain in SC?

There's a good chance Huckabee wins SC. There's an outside chance Fred does.

I don’t know if he’ll wind up the nominee, but he clearly has the momentum at the moment. If he continues to do well in the primaries up until super tues. its going to be interesting to see if Guliani’s strategy of ignoring the early states will pay off, or not.

McCain won NH and is polling well in early states by doing good old fashioned politicing.. obviously he can’t visit the super tuesday states as often as he has NH... If he continues to win primaries though, he’ll get free press and $$.

Its going to be interesting to see what happens in SC.

McCain was “acceptable” until I discovered he was a believer in man made global warming. Now he joins the huckster on my unacceptable list.

Huckabee might be able to have had some time to leverage Iowa to something in SC... I think you are dreaming about Fred. McCain clearly has the momentum at the moment.

Huckabee will not be the Republican nominee, whether he wins in SC or not. Huckabee’s continued presence is guaranteeing that either McCain or, less likely, Rudy, will be the GOP nominee. The person that Huckabee is destroying is Romney, who ironically is the only GOP candidate who can hold the Reagan coalition together (save Thompson) and who has the financial resources to go the distance thru the general election.

However, new polling in FL shows Rudy slipping badly---Huck gaining some ground.

Rudy, I think, has been banking Florida absentee votes for the last 2 weeks. This makes me nervous as I am not a Rudy guy.

Once again, Huckabee will siphon enough votes in Michigan to destroy Romney and put McCain one step closer to the GOP nomination.

And one step closer for Huckabee being on the bottom of a McCain/Huckabee ticket.

McCain clearly has the momentum at the moment.

IF he does, learn to speak Spanish and say hello to Global Warming legislation. (more taxes)

I truly hate primary election season... the sniping by everyone is just rediculous.

Simple analysis is greeted with such nonsense.

One could just as easily say if its Huckabee learn to thump the bible act holier than thou and smile like a pastor as you lie through your teeth.. if its Romney learn to marry your cousin and live one a commune and venture to MO. someplace to visit the garden of eden... etc etc etc.

I for one will be glad when the primaries are over.

Regardless of who anyone backs, there is little doubt that McCain at the moment has the momentum, in 8/07 he was dead in the water, he came out of Iowa with momentum, and has taken NH... he may hit a wall in SC and never be heard from again, who knows... but at this particular moment, whether a person likes him or not, he certainly has the momentum on the R side of the isle. Romney’s strategy and campaign is not working, Fred hasn’t moved a lick since before he officially announced and Guliani having skipped the early states has dropped out of the press coverage dropping his overall numbers. Huckabee I really doubt anyone will be remembering his name in a few weeks.. he’s trying to leverage IOWA into something in SC.. and may pull something off there, but I don’t see him around after Super Tuesday at the latest.

Now anything can change at any time.. lets face it, but at this moment in time, that’s how the race is.

Agreed, but you have to let people know what they don’t know. I just read a few posts back that the poster did not know McCain was of the Global warming religion. If not here, where?

Hello ILGTT.. I am glad that others agree with the possibility that a Dem. will tax the hell out of us and make life tougher for the middle class.
Just the thought of eliminating the child tax credit, or reducing it by half like Kerry wanted to do would make a big difference to me.
Then again, I deserve it for polluting the planet with my continued procreation.

Thompson did admit that was a mistake, the other two never did.

Hitlery and McCain winning the primaries just proves too many Massachussett-ians have migrated into “Live Free or Die” state.

As always with liberals migrating, they want the conservative way of not having many taxes, then continue to vote their mindset which will lead to more taxes (never mind all the other fascist stuff they love).

Yeah, it would be better to abort or use birth control right?
I am not asking anyone to pay for them but merely stating that this is a consideration when I vote.
If you have a problem with it, snarky comments directed at me won’t help a darn thing...just vote for the Lib.
