Mitt Romney is facing an unexpected challenge in Iowa from rival Mike Huckabee, who has enjoyed a groundswell of support from religious voters, particularly evangelical Christians wary of the clean-cut former Massachusetts governor because of his Mormon religion.

The common worry among evangelicals is that if Romney were to capture the White House, his presidency would give legitimacy to a religion they believe is a cult. Since the LDS church places heavy emphasis on proselytizing -- there are 53,000 LDS missionaries worldwide -- many mainstream Christians are afraid that Mormon recruiting efforts would increase and that LDS membership rolls would swell.

THE ONLY PROBLEM with those fears is that they don't add up. Evangelicals may be surprised to learn that the growth of church membership in Massachusetts slowed substantially during Romney's tenure as governor. In fact, one could make the absurdly simplistic argument that Romney was bad for Mormonism.

ONE WAY TO GAUGE what might happen under a President Romney would be to look at what happened during the period of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Held in Salt Lake City, they were dubbed the "Mormon Olympics."

Despite all the increased attention, worldwide the Church grew only slightly, and in fact in the year leading up to the games the total number of congregations fell. Overall, from 2000 to 2004, there was a 10.9 percent increase in memberships and a 3.6 percent increase in congregations.

The LDS church is likely to continue its current modest-but-impressive growth whether or not Romney wins the White House. Perhaps the only real worry for evangelicals is that, if elected, the former Massachusetts governor will demonstrate to Americans that Mormons don't have horns.

Thankfully, I knew this and put the Book of Mormon and the LDS church tot he test, I now know that the Book of Mormon is Gods word, and that Jesus Christ is my savior for I received a testimony of Jesus at the same time I was told of it.

I have testified many times on this thread, and on this forum of Jesus, I have never seen you do so, so that we can know you come from him, can you testify of him now?

Interesting, Jesus knows me and will call me by his name for I have publicly confessed him here and throughout my life since I received a witness of him.

Matthew 10:32-33

33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

This scripture, when viewed through Trinity's distorting lens makes it meaningless, but when viewed clearly, makes it very clear who is Jesus', those who profess him, and keep his commandments are his, those who merely use his name as you have pointed out, have no promise. Why is it primarily Evangelicals that have such a big problem with Mormons. Why is it that the Lutherans, Catholics, Methodists, just about any of the mainline Christian religions, don’t seem to have a problem with of have a live and let live attitude towards the Mormons, and primarily it is the Evangelicals that can’t seem to abide by the Mormons. Especially since the Evangelicals themselves have been portrayed by Hollywood and the MSM as snake handling, praise the lord, hand waiving, southern country bumpkins with a space between their teeth cultists. If anyone shouldn’t be on their high horse, it should be the Evangelicals. Go figure.

Logic has nothing to to this but Truth does and you people follow lies from a false prophet who is damned. People who whole heartedly follow false prophets are so as well. Being a good Christian is having a love for the Truth of God’s Word and saying things that are unpopular. Paul said knowing the terror of the Lord we persuade men to repent. You Mormons follow another Gospel and Christians who warn you are not doing this to be mean but to get you to follow the true Gospel Of Christ. We are merely reiterating the words of our forefathers Peter, Paul and the rest who were good Christians. You can’t handle the fact of being exposed for the frauds you are by the truth of the Scriptures and you may have spiritual experiences but they do not come from God. The Bible is clear on this.

If one believes the Bible is correct, then, by that Standard, Mormonism fails the test.

 

 

If, however, you are convinced that the Bible is either in error, been corrupted or mis-interpreted, then you are free to believe whatever you wish.

Rather than rendering judgments about fellow freepers, shouldn’t you follow Christ’s teachings in Luke 6: “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.”

I always find it interesting that those who do not want their practices and policies examined tend to trot out those few verses; hoping to stifle any more questions.

 

Sorry folks, but there is MORE to be said in the matter of 'judging'.
