GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain knocked President Bush for failing to capture Osama bin Laden despite "opportunities over the past six years, and vowed to "get" the terrorist kingpin if voters put him in the White House.
"I will get Osama bin Laden," McCain told a crowd of supporters at a New Hampshire town hall meeting Saturday even if it takes following him "to the gates of hell."
"I want to assure you of that as president of the United States," he said.
On Sunday, McCain repeated the promise in an interview with NBC News anchor Tim Russert.
"I'll get him," he said on "Meet the Press."
Asked what he would do differently than Bush, McCain replied, "Well, first of all, I wouldn't have passed up some of the opportunities we passed up, such as Tora Bora."

I don’t know if McCain is a scumbag, but he sure sounds like one here.
lol. I thought I read that McCain was blaming Bush for Obama’s escape. I thought he meant something about Obama Mania escaping reality and having him win the national election or some nonsense. ROTFLMAO. I tell you sometimes I wonder if I really can read.
“Just when I began to accept the idea of holding my nose an voting for him, he pulls this crap...”
I’m with you. I heard that McCain said that he got the message from voters in regard to amnesty. Then, I watched the debate the other night, and he reaffirmed his commitment to amnesty. I will no longer even remotely consider him as nominee.
Why is Romney not shouting this from the roof tops???? I don’t know if people running for President know how to do it. I guess I must not understand it much but if I was running, I would hear this stupid stuff and go in front of as many cameras as possible and repeat this and then give my rebuttle. I tell you I would probably win. the only reason I would not win is that they would seriously be sick of seeing me on tv every five minutes. lol.
Kill yourself Johnnie! You'll meet him there. Then you can cuddle in person.
Agreed.
McCain is a buffoon. And a liberal one at that.
McAmnesty would never get Osama....
He wont waterboard Islamic terrorists to get info...
And, with McAmnesty’s open border-amnesty program....Osama would be able to sneak into the US and get amnesty.
McAmnesty would look like Baghdad Bob in Iraq War.....McAmnesty in a press conference belllowing how he would capture Osama...with Osama and his terrorists buddies flipping off McAmnesty while walking right past him
McAmnesty would be an embarrassment as President...and would be the end of the GOP as we know it
it was Clinton who was handed OBL on a silver platter and declined.

McCain can’t see back that far in time.. too bad, if not for kis Keating 5 days, bogus campaign finance reform and his Just Say No to torture,, he might have had a chance..
and oddly enough with the lamebrain media spinning 24by7 and the dismal field of candidates on both sides save for 1 or 2 who get no attention, he still might.
scary.
Agreed. I think the man is dead now anyway.
It’s swollen from when Ron Paul punched him in the 3rd debate about how Washington has changed McCain instead of the other way around.
He had skin cancer removed.
What most people fail to see is that McCain’s position on the war all along was carefully constructed to be undermining of our efforts. He would complain that because we were in Iraq we didn’t have enough troops to confront any other conflicts that might come up while at the same time saying that we needed to send more troops to Iraq. This was during the 2004 campaign season while he was kissing up to Kerry who wanted to surrender. The Democrats were all quoting McCain in their surrender speeches.
Yeah, a bad temper ALWAYS means a bad person who proves unsucessful at anything they attempt. Just look at the historic record: History records that Andrew Jackson had a famous temper. He even fought duels because of it...horrible president. Then there the cases of Civil War generals W.T Sherman and Stonewall Jackson, both had terrible tempers and were abysmal at what they did, weren't they? And later there was George Patton, he was really, really bad. And just look at the examples from the world of sports: Woody Hayes, Bobby Knight, even old Paul "Bear" Bryant was said to have had a bad one. Temper certainly disqualifies anyone from accomplishment. NOT!
I believe the melanoma surgery was around his left temple, so technically that area doesn't stick out as far as the right side does, so his cheek is more pronounced.
angry old coot McCain has been a crazed and frequent backstabber of fellow Republicans.
I can picture the oped cartoons of him, will have one eye bigger than the other eye.
“I fear a replay of Bob Dole w McCain old, tired, worn out Rep candidate pitted against a young, energetic Dem opponent who, unfortunately, is also an ultraleftist. The Dem gets elected by a new, young and naieve electorate based on affability, looks, and charm, not experience, principles or policies.”
Sure is possible right now.
Pure mythology. Another made up Internet myth.
The facts are we did not have nearly enough troops to control all the ways in and out of Tora Bora. The locals let us down by letting him slip away. We had no choice but to rely upon the locals for the bulk of the troops.
Due either tribal loyalties or bribery they let him out. The locals with the SOF team that most probably was blocking his escape route refused to patrol one night. Things got so tense the team lead figured it might lead to a fire fight if he lead his guys out so they stayed put.
There were no orders to "let the locals take Osama". That is just another Democrat Party lie.
