Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee won the first Republican primary of the 2008 election last week, but many top conservatives are not happy, with some calling him a "christian socialist" and others a "Republican Jimmy Carter."

I bought that shirt from Frank J., do you IMAO?? If not go to IMAO.US for a good laugh.
I would think it wasn’t meant to be for anyone that doesn’t make it through.
I think the Christian social conservatives have to realize that they are not the “backbone” of the party and need to share that title with the fiscal conservatives. In addition, a limited government platform appealed to independents and libertarians. They all tolerated each other, even though they found portions of the other’s agenda irritating.
The Republican party’s strength was the Coalition. The position of Huckabee and Obama on fiscal issues is similar. Huck is certainly not for limited government. If the Huckster is the candidate, the coalition is broken and the other two elements are disenfranchised with no one to advance their agendas. I predict that there will be a backlash in the Republican party and many will look to a third party, or sit the vote out. The social conservatives will end up having none of their agenda met as will the others because they forgot that their strength was in the Coalition not the “backbone” of the religious right.
If you hear what I am saying, there is no differnec
I know this. At 54 years old I have cast my last vote for ANY RINO for any reason. McClame, Hucklberry, Joolyannie ... not of those will ever get my vote ... not even for dogcatcher.
Believe in nothing and you will believe in anything.

Smart words from the smart lady who is Mrs. Duncan Hunter.

AMES, Iowa Mike Huckabee played bass for much of the morning with his rock-and-roll band Capitol Offense, taking the stage at one point with an Elvis impersonator and Lynn Hunter, the wife of his rival for
the Republican nomination, Representative Duncan Hunter, to sing Johnny B. Goode.
Is Elvis with you Lynn? he asked?
Im afraid so, she said. Hes voting for Hunter.

The key is to start a "Draft Kennedy" movement. That way if Huckabaloo can't win a blue state, we get a really funny Democrat president who guarantees tabloid laughs and a Republican victory in 2012, the Mayan Apocalypse.
Wait a minute...is that Herb Tarlek from WKRP working security?
So in this statement about Fred, have you just not committed the same error that you accuse Rush of - balancing out conservatism with the ability to win in November?
I’m not voting for a liberal, whether they are running as a Democrat OR a Republican.
It is hypocritical to vote for someone because they cloak themselves with the ‘Republican’ banner, at the same time we’d be out there tearing them down if they were a Democrat.
That is what a liberal would do.
LLS
Speaking of Huck, he is appearing on Letterman tonight.
cute ;^)
THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM
LEFT....Obama..Edwards/Clinton..........Romney/Huckabee/Giuliani...McCain...................Thompson...Hunter..RIGHT
You guys supporting Romney, Huckabee, Giuliani and McCain have lost your compass. Nothing personal, but those guys are not Reagan conservatives.
I agree. I do not like slamming any Republican during this crucial time.
Rush should cool his jets.
I’m a Christian traditionalist pro-lifer and I won’t vote for a lying, greedy opportunist like Huckabee, and he could NEVER win a general election, anyway.
Fred would never win New Hampshire, it is a liberal state. That’s why McCain and Giuliani and Romney are doing well there. They let Independents vote for Republicans there. It skews the results.
New Hampshire does not represent the majority thinking of the Republicans in the country.

If you don't believe me, ask long time conservative . Schalfly has not endorsed a candidate for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, but she has spoken out against Mike Huckabee, whom she says as governor left the Republican Party in Arkansas "in shambles".

Exactly!
That is exactly what I am trying to get people here to realize.
We need Fred. He needs to get it in gear.
McCain sucks though, as does Giuliani.
Mitt is better than Huckabee, but if I have to vote for Huckabee, then I will - to keep Hillary or Obama from winning. This is something that people here should realize.
