LIMA, Ohio — Darla Jennings walked through the streets of south Lima last night sobbing as hundreds of people behind her called for justice after the shooting of her daughter, who was killed by police as she held her baby. Tarika Wilson, 26, was shot and her 1-year-old son was wounded when Lima police conducted a drug raid on their home Friday night, prompting members of the black community to organize a candlelight vigil and demand answers from police. "They shot my daughter and her baby," Ms. Jennings said through tears while being consoled by other family members.

Actually the Cato roadmap must only show a few. We had a raid in Durham NC where a 19 yr old was shot to death by police. I kid you not, they were attempting to recover a stolen Playstation. Must have been afraid he would flush it down the toilet.....this was in 06 or 07

If you want a “consumable” like crack cocaine to be legal..do it through the legislative process that the Constitution provides for. So far it has not worked. I trust however that enough morons will get elected to do it.

If you cannot wait or you’d rather not make the effort to do it legally———check out Europe-—the kookie Dutch have legalized pot and the Swiss their heroin...yummy.

No. they haven't. They decriminalized it. And for the record, both pot and heroin use is 1/2 what it is here.

I was just looking at some of the comments on the Lima forum in their paper.
Am glad to see many there believe the police did what they had to do.
Also if the mom wanted her kid safe as the one comment says below, she asked for it.(my comment)

mother of six children who would allow a known and convicted violent felon, under the influence of illegal drugs or possession of illegal drugs to be staying at the residence.....

They decriminalized it

Doublespeak. Orwellian. It is what it is. Debased and demoralizing.

I think it is merely not the Federal Governments job to wage a war on drugs. By the 10th amendment it would be the states right. As far as I am concerned, it should be legal. I don’t like coke personally but if someone wants to get all coked up and peep out the blinds until 6 AM, have at it. I frankly never saw the attraction of a drug that keeps you up all night and whose only benefit is that it lets you drink phenomenal amounts of alcohol and let you feel sober. As a result you look and feel like an extra from Night of the Living Dead in the morning. Call me a former druggie if you like for trying it a half dozen times, but believe it or not people can make decisions for their own good. If you want to make a dent in the drug problem in this country, make treatment free. Anyone with a drug problem should be able to go to a state sponsored Lindsay Lohan style rehab. In the long run, this would save society much more than it would cost to outfit 90,000 SWAT teams to rid us of our dignity and constitutional rights.

No, it is a real English word that was used long before Orwell was born. For example (from Wikipedia):

While decriminalized acts are no longer crimes, they may still be the subject of regulation; for example, the licensing and regular medical testing of prostitutes, or a monetary penalty in place of a criminal charge for the possession of a decriminalized drug. This should be contrasted with legalization, which removes all or most legal detriments from a previously illegal act.

Both are necessary: jail time/financial penalties/etc. for dealers and treatment for those who need it.

Until then I back serious SWAT teams for getting rid of dealers in our communities.

While I will admit I have had a similar attitude as the one you posted on many occasions, I every so often get rocked back to reality with stories like what happened a little over a week ago in Little Rock, Arkansas - two thugs walked up to a house and fired over 50 rds. into the front of a house. Yes the house was in “one of those neighborhoods”, but the front bedroom contained a young girl of 6 and her 4 yr. old sister playing games. The 6 year old was hit 7 times, I believe, while the 4 year old was “only” “slightly wounded”.

What did these two little girls do to deserve getting shot - one that will just leave a permanent scar, and the other loosing her life....

If all the innocent children could somehow escape, and THEN allow the drug dealers, gang-banger, and other thugs to battle it out until none are left standing, that would be one thing... but it isn’t an option.

Any woman who calls herself a mother, while harboring a crack dealer does not deserve the title of “mother”. While we are fighting a half-hearted “War on Terror” in foreign countries (which I am basically for - if it were not for the double standard we stand for - Israel cannot defend herself from terrorists while we do, and we won’t shut down the open borders of our own country), how many children and other innocents with no voice face terror in their own streets, neighborhoods, or bedrooms? How do gangs operate? Through fear - they strong arm the residents into shutting up. They commit acts of violence - often towards innocents. They should be treated to the same anti-terrorism treatment that an Al Queda thug should...

And as you say - when a thug gets killed in the “hood” - the family grieve and it barely makes a blip - other than the screams for the government/police to do something. So the police finally get enough heat and try to crack down.... and they get run out of that same ‘hood for doing what they were told to do. I believe it relates to two things - first is the strong-arm terrorist tactics of the thugs, and second is a desire to make everything the responsibility of “the man”

Had a neighbor got shot in the finger doing a door breakdown (holding the warrent in his hand as is the DC custom).

They sued the owner of the property ~ and recovered.

The marijuana is a non-issue in my book and even as a police officer you might agree that it does not deserve execution without a jury. On the other hand in this case you say the police “did what they had to do” I understand, the child may at some point need that hand to smoke a joint. Damned shame they didn’t paralyze him, he still has one hand. (sarcasm, for the slow to recognize) As to the cocaine, have you channelled the dead to know that the mom even knew it was there? I am careful about who I let in my home and I have no love for the cocaine crowd. But I have found out people have been over who were doing, or in fact have done cocaine at my house. There is no odor, it can be hid anywhere and I am not interested in doing cavity searches of all my guests. O.K. I am in favor of doing cavity searches on some of my guests, but not all...lol

I did a much more thorough search of what you've been posting. Only good one was this green cat that glows in the dark. FAH.

Otherwise it's just one-liner after another.

You and I rarely post on the same topic. Here you are on the wrong side. If you'd bother to read the post(s) to which I responded you'd seen that I was being quite neutral. There's simply not enough information in this story to give us the whole picture.

read post 148. I am an average citizen who had the power of the state thrown at me to carry out an act of personal vengence. “serious SWAT teams” are a threat to your rights.

As I noted, he shot and wounded one dog and shot and killed the other dog. The shooter was definitely a bad shot.

Some of the cities and towns up in the Himalayas let you snort, suck, burn or inject anything you want.

Marvelous lifestyle./sarc

Why should I pay for treatment for someone who knowingly and willingly made himself "sick"?

The risks are known and they didn't consult with me. It's not my problem.

The fact remains that no mention of any suspect weapon was mentioned in the article...My point had nothing to do with the accuracy of the LEO shooter.

Ya see a dog can be considered a threat...Yet still no mention of a suspect weapon.
