Westminster Rally 12/29/07
Bob, Chris and I arrived a little after 1PM to be greeted by ProudMarineMom, her son and LurkerBill. LurkerBill was kind enough to step in since Trooprally had other commitments after the Olney FReep. It was great to have PMM back in attendance and see her all smiles with her Marine son by her side! We were ecstatic to have him standing with us also. Captain Nancy Yeager of the Westminster City Police Dept. was discussing rules about where to stand so that drivers could see the crosswalk better. We abided by the rules and the Rally was underway. Von said Herb would be there in a bit, and showed up to join us. There were a total of 7 of us, an improvement since last week when we were solo.
Two other police officers were patrolling the area, making sure things were civil, which they were. The first 2 moonbats showed up around 1:50PM. Little by little, the rest showed up. 9 for the CCP and WIB to our 7. There was a family going into the jewelry store that thanked us for standing out there. He mentioned that it made them sick to see the other side out there with their ridiculous signs. Lots of waves and beeps today. There was a 1 finger salute but hey, what is 1? Not bad. That's OK - a unique response occurred, that made our day. We got a standing ovation from a group of ladies crossing from the library over to our side of the street! That was original and very uplifting! Another lady wanted to make sure she understood what was going on. She asked if either sides of the street were opposing each other and I said that was correct. She stated it perfectly. You all want peace but just after the mission is complete and the troops come home. She said her son was just out of HS wavering whether he wanted to join the military. She thanked us. A few others walking by expressed their thanks and were happy to have us there. Another lady passed out candy to us. A guy getting out of his truck on our side shouted across the street, If it wasn't for these guys (the troops), you would all be speaking Chinese! ProudMarineMom left a little early to get ready for work. We thought that our time was up at 3pm, but Capt. Yeager informed us we had until 3:30pm. She told us that CCP and WIB only had until 3pm. We decided to wrap it up at our usual time - 3pm.
DC Chapter ping for the good folks holding down the fort in a small town north of DC.
[Mrs] T and I will be seeing you this Saturday - no unexpected family doings this time. You should also have a several others from the Olney FReep.
[Mr] T
Westminster Merlan BUMP!
BUMP
Yeager, eh...
A giant BUMP and a thank you for the ping.
I am glad to see you had a good size group this week!
Thanks for the ping.
Could you please clarify for me? Is this a weekly event, or is it only the weekends that the moonbats show up? If the latter, which weekends? Thanks so much!
SP~
Thanks for the Ping BufordP!
Thanks for the BUMP concretebob, Albion Wilde and 3D-JOY!
Doesn’t matter if the moonbats are out or not, we enjoy supporting our troops and the response is very positive in Wesminster. Always for the troops! :)
SP-
ProudMarineMom and I are there every Saturday from 1-3pm, unless something comes up. Her hubby and my hubby and son usually join when the CCP and WIB are there which is the 2nd and last Saturday of each month. Hope you can join us one of these days!
You’re very welcome!
Excellent! Thanks for the great action and report.
Thank you all. The more people see those of us who support our troops out there in public, the more courage they will have to speak up themselves.
Thanks Wayne! I am working on another AAR from this Saturday. Running behind, but trying to keep up.
You’re welcome, WVNan! You are so right - the more people that see us might prompt them to get out and do the same thing - show their support for our troops.
Go, RockerMom2MyHero!! Great job!
Thanks again, Albion. I had a great teacher - Mr. T!
Have a lot to learn, but this is a start. 1st Westminster AAR of 2008 to follow.
